Sarah Palin: ‘Is a Title and Campaign Too Shackle-y?’

Sheila Marikar

September 28, 2011

A Palin presidency: Too “shackle-y?”

That’s what Sarah Palin suggested on Fox News’ “On The Record with Greta VanSusteren” tonight, saying that she’s concerned jumping into the 2012 presidential race will muffle her message.

“Is a title worth it?” she asked, rhetorically. “Does a title shackle a person? Are they someone like me who’s maverick? I do go rogue and I call it like I see it and I don’t mind stirring it up in order to get people to think and debate aggressively.”

“Is a title and a campaign too shackle-y?,” she continued. “Does that prohibit me from being out there, out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what donors or what contributors or what pundits want it to be? Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to affect positive change that we need in this country? That’s the biggest contemplation piece in my process.”

Palin expressed a concern about “being caricatured” if she runs, and asked again “whether a title is needed to make a difference or someone can be rogue, can be maverick, can be passionate about issues and can get people to think very wisely about issues.”...

The desperation is beginning to show on the MSM, even Fox is playing games when they discuss Sarah Pain.

If anything I am beginning to wonder if there has been some profound evidence that Obama is planning on canceling the election, and Sarah Palin knows all about it, by still keeping out of the battlefield she can assess the best strategic move to make.

And just how would America react to a cancelled election?

If Obama could I think he would, its the only way for him to stay at the helm of his sinking burning ship of fools.

Honestly, she’s not that mavericky or rogue, they are others that talk more boldly. I think she’s starting to believe in the Messiah syndrome herself now. I say good riddance, her king making days are over.

looked at and discarded? Pfft. Herman Cain train has been chugging along, gaining followers, gaining momentum despite the MSM trying to pretend he doesn’t exist.
Rush: “You want to know why Herman Cain won the straw poll in Florida? ‘Cause you can’t find one example of Herman Cain, at any point in this campaign, not being a conservative. Herman Cain’s not hedging his bets. Herman Cain is not trying to be all things to all people. Herman Cain is not out there trying to make sure he doesn’t offend this group or that group.
Herman Cain’s out there and he is pedal-to-the-metal, 100% conservative every time he opens his mouth. It’s not surprising to me he wins the Florida straw poll over somebody’s mealy-mouthed and is trying to have it both ways on any number of issues.”

Without the title or the office, or the expectation that she’s going to pursue them, then why should we care what Palin says any more than every other talking head on the TV?

The statement she made was really bad. I was rather surprised. It was really idiotic. You just can’t have someone that is that bad at expressing themselves and their ideas running for president. Especially if some of their ideas seem like incomplete thoughts. And I like her. I think she does have a role in turning the country around. But not as President.

She’s now leading in the race to unshackled irrelevance. Politically, that’s all she will get from declining to “throw her name in the hat,” as she put it.
And “Herb Cain” will not be the nominee.

“Too Shackle-y”

She sought and became a Mayor and Governor, and sought the Vice Presidency. She’s really not a rogue. She’s has the heart of, among other things, an executive.

She has a long track record of not being told what to do by handlers. She not the type to be shackled, but she also know that the responsibilities of high office require that she sometimes shackle herself. She will be a dignified, respectful, deliberate president and she knows that.

Her Shackle-y remark is part of her preparing us for what we’ll get if we elect her. When she becomes President, she’ll be the same person we are getting to know now.

I can’t see her sitting this election out. She’s also said that if other candidates don’t meet her requirements for our next president, she’ll run.

She’s going the route of Glenn Beck. She won’t run.

Pay attention not to what Sarah can say on Fox News but what she wears: a running suit

Do you realize how that sounds? You're not only grasping at straws, you're trying to read them like I Ching portents.

Her clothing was black and blue. Is that a signal she is feeling injured?

There's PDS here, and then there's the Palinhalers.

Name recognition doesn’t translate into positive opinions. Many times it is a detriment and I believe Palin can’t win.

Absolutely right. She’s already faced the worst of The Left’s fire. It’s the GOP Old Boys’ Club, Cocktail Party elite that will be her biggest obstacle to election. And that’s a pretty sorry state-of-affairs, isn’t it?

Sarah Palin has a 3 year contract of 1 million a year and signed in January of 2010. So this contract ends January 2013.

She’s milking it for all it’s worth.

Nonsense!

Palin hasn't done a TV show in over a year, she hasn't written any books in a while and she has made very few paid appearances over the last half year. One who is "milking it for all it's worth" would be actively involved in all of those activities.

Add to that, if she were not to run, then taking the extra two months would only hurt her.

BTW, the people who are currently releasing books this fall are Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.
