I like the flat tax as well. A tax rate of X % on all income over X amount would be simple, easy and fair.

Does anyone know of a comment board where primarily blacks are discussing the merits of Cain vs. Obama? I think that would be an interesting read right now.

He supported Romney in 2008.

Romney's noted only he and Cain have private sector experience in the debates.

Of those on stage, Cain said he'd consider Romney for VP.

There's clearly a mutual admiration thing there.

I meant the people who did not vote for Cain as compared with Obama also probably included individuals who were at this point supporting one of the other candidates, but would, HOPEFULLY, vote AGAINST Obama REGARDLESS of the GOP nominee.

You forgot the part where he said STATES can restrict gun rights with legislation.

Restrict, or prohibit? Some restrictions are perfectly fine with me, like no guns in schools. No guns in stadiums, arenas and bars.

So you think a state has the constitutional authority to take away your 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms?

The issue is whether Cain was correct in stating that states can restrict gun rights with legislation. The Supreme Court has consistently found that some state regulation of firearms is permitted under the 2nd Amendment, see http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/09pdf/08-1521.pdf. An example of this is the restrictions on people carrying a concealed firearm. Such restrictions by states have been found not to violate the 2nd Amendment. Therefore, the right to carry can be restricted, at least to some extent, by state legislatures. State legislatures, therefore, is where people went to get the restrictions changed.

Herman Cain was not incorrect in his statement.

Really neither of them has the credentials to run seriously on his or her own.

IMHO, they have the best "credentials", far superior to Romney or Perry.

I figured he didn’t have a serious chance, but if this keeps up he’s going to become my guy!

The right to carry is the same as the right to bear arms. If you’re carrying a handgun, then you put it in your pocket.

I do not support concealed carry provisions.

Then Vermont would be a good state for you.

HOPEFULLY, ALL of us will pull together REGARDLESS of political purity once a nominee is selected, and do EVERYTHING WE CAN to flush that bastard out of the Oval Office in the General Election.

Second that!

Was it a shock because he is close? Or was it a shock because he had a great month, but is no closer than he was a month ago?

Not good for Obummer. Herman Cain is well known in the inner city community, at least around here. I go back to the old neighborhood once in a while to go to church. I’m thinking he could probably take at least 25% of the vote, although few black people in the old neighborhood want to admit that they would vote for a Republican candidate, even if he’s black. I’m thinking the 20% is silent torrying from the black community.

Please show a source showing Cain supporting affirmative action. He’s on record as being against quotas, as shown by this 2004 article:

http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/2004/04/28/op_413767.shtml

“But the court gave the go-ahead to the University of Michigan law school to consider race on a case-by-case basis. This is very tricky. If it means that economically impoverished kids who happen to be minorities should get consideration for assistance, that’s great. If that means that minorities get slots in place of white kids with better academic credentials, then that is not fair.

College acceptance should be based on how well a student has performed and excelled in school. Like everything else in life, people need to earn what they get, and earn it by working hard. Quotas are not the answer and they never will be.”

Until you look at his resume.

I agree. But the problem is most won't look that far. They will watch tha tee-vee and see what it has to say. That, and our national gnat-like attention span, is what elected Great Leader.

There is nothing suspicious about that. That is not his MO. Cain is not interested in attacking other Republican candidates, he is going after Obama.

But Cain has brought up Romneycare and will say more if he needs to (I doubt he will).
