Sarah Palin: Being president could ‘shackle’ me
Yahoo News, The Ticket ^ | 9/28/2011 | Rachel Rose Hartman

Sarah Palin certainly didn't sound interested in running for president last night.

"Is a title worth it-- does a title shackle a person?" the former Alaska governor asked during a discussion of her 2012 plans with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren. "Someone like me, who's maverick--you know I do 'go rogue' and I call it like I see it and I don't mind stirring it up ... [for] somebody like me, is a title and is a campaign too shackling?"

"Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to effect positive change that we need in this country? That's the biggest contemplation piece in my [decision] process," Palin said.

Palin said Tuesday that time is running out. Filing deadlines, requiring candidates to register to appear on state presidential primary ballots, are approaching in several states.

So how do you become President without first being a candidate?

After Marine Expeditionary forces retake the capital?

Behind Romney? Behind Perry? Behind Bachmann? Who knows—it may be behind Cain, but he’s still untested. But you can’t “unify” without a unifying principle/principal.

I sincerely do hope Sarah Palin has a plan in case Obama goes off the deep end and actually DOES cancel any future elections.

A lot of people in the early stages of his campaign have poo poo’ed any thoughts that Obama would go dictator, but its apparently obvious Obama does indeed aspire to be a dictator for life over America.

So far he has manipulated almost any opposition or severely degraded the agencies so they are impotent as far as to removing him.

Sarah Palin could be the next resistance leader to organize America to remove any dictator. Her and or Cain.

Well because Sarah Palin is not Chris Christie she needs to make the decision yesterday.

The question I would have for Bill Kristol is: Is Chris Christie a conservative?

Why should we let the MSM and political elites choose our candidate?

I disagree with Sarah Palin: Citizen Palin could not have made the changes in Alaska Governor Palin sure could and did.

Citizen Palin would be infinitely less effective than President Palin in making the necessary changes.

Why write her in if she doesn’t want to run?

God Bless her. But, well, I'm starting to get a little tired of this.

It is, it should be ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND AMERICA.

The last candidate that won the Presidency, as we recall, it was all about him, him, him, his conveniences, his family, his privacy, his vision, his vacations, his golf, his smothering security that limited his movements. Him him him. I would hope we could see an end to that--our country is in some serious deep shit and we need a few selfless Sam Adams' and Thomas Paine's right about now.

"So how do you become president without first becoming a candidate"

In a brokered convention. The delegates to the convention are bound to their nominee only thru the first vote and if no nominee wins then the delegates are released to vote for anyone.

Look at what she is doing.

She is putting herself into the light every time a campaign event comes up. The media is so keyed in on her that she can do this cheaply. Plus, she has a dedicated constituency that may be narrow but it is very deep.

As time goes by and the primary campaign heats up, the primaries and caucuses come more frequently, this becomes harder and harder to do.

I do not care if people like or dislike Sarah. However, the misrepresentation of what Sarah ‘asked’ was in response to a specific question by Greta. Sarah was NOT addressing the office of president at this point in the interview.

She was describing what happens when a person announces their candidacy and the ‘title’ and expectations of that candidate take on a life of their own. She specifically pointed to the ‘title’ of veep she wore in the 2008 campaign and how media and campaign handlers controlled how she was to appear to US. AND as an announced candidate the expectations would be of her to join the crowd of other candidates at some liberal media produced sound bite recording.

Any of the Perry supporters out there wish Perry had stayed home last debate? I mean, really now, he has sent his woman to Iowa to smooth over his rough edges. H E L L O??????

Possible, as anything may be, but highly unlikely. Want to know what would be a perfect scenario for Palin? Assume Bolton, or a similar type, is next Sec of State. She should be Under Sec for four years.

I don’t think she wants to run because she is aware of the fact there is a job at the end of all the hoopla. A job that is shackling.

Palin seems to be the type that likes the campaign more than what follows it.

She has been campaining for a couple years without having to actually run.

Best of both worlds. She gets attention and financial security without having to take on the problems.

If anyone believes that being elected President in 2012 as a Republican is going to be all glory without horrifying obstructions and constant hateful opposition, they aren’t paying attention.

“too shakl-ey”

This is really crap from Palin, except she didn’t say she would be shackled, but she posed a question.

She’s never in her career preferred to remain an independent non-shackled individual. She’s been clawed at since she paired with McCain not because she was a threatening independent voice, but because she had the obvious potential for being president.

She has no interest in shouting from the sidelines.

I tire of her games, pretending to be on the verge of running only to delay announcing. She is hurting other people in the race. She is starting to look like all she wants is the media attention she gets when she appears and pretends to be getting ready to announce. She told us she would announce by the end of September, well. If she doesn’t get in the race I for one am done with her. And flame away I’m a big guy and can handle it.

It didn't seem to bother Ronaldus Maximus. Read his diary, Sarah, please.

I am reluctant to reply as I believe you’re an oddball, but, allow me to state what will transpire on this site if Perry gets the nod: Anyone submitting demeaning posts about him will be ousted. Just as in ‘08, when McCain was raked over the coals, UNTIL he won the nomination. So suck it up, perhaps grow up, and deal with it.

Agree. I don't support Perry now, but will 'get over it' and vote for him if it he becomes the nominee. But what if Romney gets the nomination? I won't be 'getting over it' then. Will we all still be allowed to write "FUMR" without getting the big ZOT?

I hate to say it, and it’s not a shot at her abilities, but she was chosen to counteract the Dems picking Obama.

She was almost unknown until she came out of the blue.
