Some variation of this article appears every 6 months like clock work. It’s being talked about plenty, more than the actual threat when you get right down to it. In order to nail the entire country you’d need a very large bomb at a very high altitude (EMP is line of sight, it doesn’t turn corners, and it loses strength very quickly). Anybody that can do that has easier means to take us out.

Amazingly, I've seen a small number of FReepers who discount the entire scenario, with some calling it as bogus as Y2K. I can only shake my head at such stupidity. One actually said, "Iran can't hurt us like that." She was strangely silent after I pointed out to her that Iran has successfully orbited satellites.

Because it is an Internet nerd topic, not a valid scientific one. No, I am not going to argue with the scientifically illiterate Internet crowd about it. This scare about EMP is nothing but proof that our education system has created ignorant idiots arrogant enough to think they do know it all.
