Sarah Palin-affiliated law firm made early-state deadline inquiries

Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading
The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.
As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palins campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.
It wouldnt be the first time that her representatives have sought information on the deadlines marking the ever-shifting GOP calendar.
The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

So, what are the cut-off dates for SC Primary (Jan. 21, 2012) and FL Primary (Jan. 31, 2012)? Anybody know?

I was in Hawaii for five days. Since there wasn’t a tsunami, I’ll assume that Palin is still sitting on the sidelines?

if she is not running, I must say I have to admire the level of detail with which she is executing her plan to keep the little minions of the MSM running around like headless chickens

When you want to move forward, youre gonna piss people off, but Sarah doesnt care. Pissing off the very people you need to have vote for you isn't exactly a winning campaign strategy. I've been gone for almost a week, and it's the same old tired theme of Palin stringing along her devotees. What will next week's hint be? Will she wear a red, white, and blue ribbon in her hair while on Greta?

“But Sarah Palins worst enemy is not the mincing liberal betaboy, oh no. Its the childless, career-tracked, urban slut machine, government-as-daddy-and-husband-substitute, spinsterette. Palin sh*ts grizzly-sized dung all over that lifestyle with her outdoorsiness, large brood, and prole tastes. The thing about her they really cant swallow are her FIVE kids.
Theres no better way to remind a hip clubgoing single chick in the city who loves to travel and sip pinot noir of her impending infertility and genetic obsolescence than with the image of a woman whos chosen not to ignore her biological imperative in favor of playing the field indefinitely.
Palin makes blue state SWPLs nervous because she is the chill up their spines that they are being outbred into insignificance.”
To: CedarDave
Oh yeah, it’s all part of her “big tease”—to have her attorneys call the various state offices about this.
(eye roll)
To: Buckeye McFrog
Yep. She’s a bit like Paris Hilton in how she knows how to use her celebrity to advance her name and career.

She would be wise to miss the NH deadline if that one is first. Nobody will beat Romney there, but if she doesn’t “lose”, his victory is neutered a bit. If she won Iowa and no contested NH, she would be in better position to win SC than if she lost NH.

Yes a serous candidate would already know that, but a candidate who would want to make sure the max number of people are standing by, holding their collective breaths, would have someone make some ‘unnecessary’ phone calls. You betcha. It is all over Twitter and FB. Palin said that when she has an announcement to make, we won't miss it. Not if all eyes are on Sarah. lol, love it.
