On the ‘image’ thing. Once upon a time it was the height of fashion for men to wear platform shoes, shoulder width collars and bell bottoms. Image comes and goes. Once upon a time women had 3 foot beehive hairdoos and pillbox hats, wearing enough blue eyeshadow to make the sky envious. Reality is what we make it. If we as a people say screw the BS that we have been fed regarding image etc, it holds no power. But enough people have to be willing to think for themselves. Perhaps someday enough people will have had their fill of having ‘reality’ dictated to them by someone other than themselves.

Well only to slightly disagree, reality is what it is, 'life' is what we make of it. Problem is (as I wrote earlier) someone once told me that everybody has their own perception of reality using the very same set of facts.

When Obama won, it was like a kick in the gut to Conservatrive America. At that moment, there was very little light at the end of the tunnel. For tens-of-millions of Americans, myself included, that one speck of light in all that darkness was the single-brightest-shining-star in all of American Conservatism. That Star has a name, and you damn well know it.

Last night, after years of believing in that one most brightly shining ray of hope, Conservative America had its heart broken, and that ray of hope extinguished.

Just as her announcement for the presidency would have lit the night sky like fireworks, her turning her back on the CALL of her COUNTRY in its hour of deepest NEED just delivered another KICK TO THE GUT of Conservative America.

Of course there are still Conservative Americans. But that pinnacle of enthusiasm, the one-greatest Energizer Bunny for millions is now just a bad joke on us. The damage done is incalculable. I was wrong about Sarah, and I freely admit it. If you had asked me "Is it even possible that she would consider doing this to the Heart of Conservatism in America?" I would have replied with an emphatic "Hell no!"

For those to whom the opportunity for schadenfreude outweighs your compassionate humanity, now is the time to kick me, and millions of other deeply trusting Americans in the nuts. We were wrong about Palin. Have your great laugh.

But make it quick. The clock is ticking, and I don't see any EMT with a defibrillator rushing in to resuscitate this gasping patient. Let your jeers and guffaws be heartfelt and deep, for soon they will ring hollow in even your own ears.

I find no joy or satisfaction in this, for what it's worth... which ain't much. The enthusiasm she would have brought to the 2012 race is now just so many half-empty, listlessly sagging party ballons.

Y'all better hope Mr. Pizza has some tricks up his sleeve that we haven't seen yet, because a HUGE chunk of the conservative movement just took a double-tap center mass.
