It sucks that so many had so much emotion invested though. Gambling with such rare coin can lead to painful losses.

So very well said, hg.

Kingmaker?.....I can't see it

You cannot be a Kingmaker without power. She threw hers away.

She just threw all her cards on the table and walked away.

A pattern is emerging: When the going gets tough, she gets going.... right the hell outta there.

RE “Well, if you mean this, then it's pathological. I'm reminded of a scene one would find in Monty Python's “Life of Brian.” Brian: “I'm NOT the Messiah.” Voice in the crowd: “See that? Only the Messiah would claim he's not the Messiah.” So Palin is now lying to you? Because of her genius "misdirection" and "unconventional" campaign---which isn't a campaign because she isn't running? Just wow.

Not lying to me. It was obvious from the beginning to me. Now it sounds like you are NOW accusing Palinistas of being delusional. Yesterday that would bring charges of being a PDS.

C4P posted a few questions a while back:

Six Clues Palin Is Running For President
Conservatives4Palin ^ | June 30, 2011 | Nicole Coulter

One need only ask some basic questions to determine Mrs. Palin’s intentions.

1 – For what reason would Mrs. Palin insert herself into the 2010 election cycle? Why go out of her way to “endorse” local candidates all over the United States? And mostly TEA Party and grassroots conservative candidates?

2 – For what reason would Mrs. Palin take her entire family on a “bus tour” of historic sites around the United States? The key here is the BUS. If she wanted to tour these sites, she could easily do it in her family vehicle. Why stir up all the attendant media coverage?

3 – For what possible reason would Mrs. Palin need a movie about her political career? Remember, she had her staff approach Mr. Bannon about making some “short” segments. It was Mr. Bannon who made the decision to make a 2-hour movie, using his own money. Why didn’t she just say no?

4 – Why is she supporting this movie with appearances all over the United States? What is the point of traveling all over the U.S., generating press coverage everywhere, and shaking hands and speaking with people, voters, in every locale?

5 – Why are there O4P organizations in over 30 states, especially in all of the early primary states? Why didn’t Mrs. Palin just tell these people to stop? Is she that callous, that she would allow these people to waste their time and energy in this manner?

6 – Why does Mrs. Palin, a native and proud Alaskan, with a television series to prove it, need a home in Scottsdale, Arizona? Wouldn’t this be a complete jolt to her entire family? Where is Todd Palin going to find work on an oil rig, or pipeline, in Arizona?

Why don’t you all just accept that Mrs. Palin is running for the Republican nomination for President, and act accordingly?

If you need an announcement, here is a suggestion: Pretend that she has already announced and act accordingly.

I am totally bewildered by this “announcement” nonsense. I want someone to give me one, ONE, good reason why a lack of announcement means she is NOT running!

Sweetie, you need to see a shrink

I liked Sarah Palin. I would have voted for her.

But some people are so invested in the Cult that now, with her going 'refusenik', I almost wonder if there will be a 'on-top-of-a-clock-tower-with-a-rifle' news report today.

...it’s your tagline...the Latin...you have it as
‘cogito, ergo Conservitus’ which translates ‘I think, therefore conservative’...firstly, it’s conservatus, not conservitus, and secondly, you’re using the passive past participial form of the verb conservare, which, being passive, requires an auxiliary to function properly, to wit, a form of the infinitive ‘esse’...
...should read ‘cogito, ergo conservatus sum’. That said, I applaud your desire to use Latin...

Thank you for the kind words, Norm.

I only posted a couple times after getting the devastating news last night, and I stayed off every Palin thread, afterwards. Thankfully, I missed all of the crowing and gloating by the anti-Palin folks (although I did get a particularly nasty freepmail from one).

Alright friend. We’ll talk more later. I just can’t right now.

Okay, you won.

Take your gloating butt back to DU.

We’ve got work to do, and all you’re doing is adding to the noise level.

Right on.

We (ie, true conservatives) sometimes get all worked up about hot button issues that we tend to lose sight of the bigger picture.

I have even heard a lot of grumbling recently about how some conservatives are sad that they voted for McCain. In the general.

How can that be???

I’m damn proud that I voted for McCain (and my vote counted, as my state went McCain). Well, to put it more accurately, I’m glad that I did what I could to deny obama any EVs (not that I was thrilled with McCain...who could be?). Of course I have never and will never vote for him in a primary.

The sad reality is that obama is evil in the extreme.

Just one case in point.

Remember Elian Gonzales? Yes, we all do. As I understand it, the guy that sort of gave the final go ahead order to send Elian back was......Eric Holder.

Then with the election of obama, he becomes Attorney General of the United States.

And in that capacity, he sets up an illegal and insane policy of putting US manufactured weapons (thousands of them) into the hands of Mexican cartel members. These weapons are then used to kill American border control personnel (something Holder is fine with) and if they are ever confiscated, then Holder can say, “Oh my gosh! Look! These weapons are American!” and thus can begin a new round of infringing on the Second Amendment rights of American citizens.

See how all this works?

The Eric Holders of the world, just like the obamas of the world, have to be ousted, and we have the ability to do so.

Say what you want about McCain, but a McCain/Palin administration would not have engaged in this gun running operation. Nor would McCain/Palin have put Eric Holder of Elian fame as Attorney General. America would be MUCH better off with a centrist, or centrist veering left administration of McCain/Palin than the America hating, extreme far left administration that is in there now.

Nor would McCain/Palin have pushed forward the “stimulus” which has been the major drag on the recovery. Most likely, they would have done nothing (gridlock) and...we would now be in a full blown, real recovery.

All of that is to say, elections have massive consequence. We can’t get too worked up about a single issue and say that we are going to sit the election out.

(Not that what happens around here matters in the big picture....obama is going to lose no matter what happens in the GOP primary)

I think she made the right decision. She knows she has some image-building to do before she is truly electable. This was not an example of cowardice. Anyone who thinks Palin is a coward doesn't understand her at all, in my opinion. Just as those who think she is stupid don't understand her at all.

What gives me the most joy about this is what a disappointment it will be to the Palin haters, who will be deprived of so much of their ugly fun. And I won't have to listen to it.
