Take it for what you will...posted on Mark's page just now: BREAKING: GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN TELLS MARK LEVIN SHE IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012.
Ah, I can see the multitude of threads on FR postulating all manner of answers to just this question. I fear the truth might not be a favorite of her supporters.
I know better to put my hope in mere men or women.....but this woman sure fooled me.
I feel like we were led on.....and I dont know why.
I also don't think she will have one whit of 'power' to influence any election, candidate, or the Presidency.
I guess she's done.
It must be obvious I'm just plain mad!
I don’t think they like each other. But politics makes strange bedfellows.
I agree. I think it is time to raise some Cain. It will be interesting to see who Palin endorses.
My Thoughts exactly.
In a way she is a hypocrite.
She encourages people to run and then when it was her time she backed out.
I am very disappointed she won’t be running.
I am all for Cain, gaffes and all, his experience is more valuable that that of a career politician. I have some small policy differences but he is our best option. Obama has to go.
Since Obama will lose this puts Palin out to 2020 at the earliest. This was her time but she couldn’t pull the trigger. There was a campaign structure in place for her that was unlike anything we have seen, it will never be there again the same way. Too bad.
The country did okay under articles of confederation, we have 50 independent states, some of which are reasonably healthy, and thousands of municipalities and county governments, not to mention strength of community, aside from government. Things might improve if the federal government collapses or is seriously threatened.
Listen to all the fatal-istic yahoos.
“We’re doomed! We’re doomed! Only my candidate could have beaten Obama!” I’ve heard that line with various candidates, from backers of Sarah Palin to Rick Perry to Mitt Romney to Ron Paul, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. “Only my candidate is/was electable.”
Puh-leease, that’s just showing biased all-or-nothing favoritism. And while there is no perfect candidate and I have not endorsed a candidate, there are probably several of the announced candidates who can defeat Barack Hussein Obama.
It’s time to stop listening to the talking head pundits and the lamestream media. Declarations of “it’s between Perry and Romney now, period,” have proven to be short-lived. We’re a long way from the first vote cast in the first state’s primary or caucus and many things can happen.
The vetting process is good so we can choose the best possible candidate. It’s not good to listen to “whispering campaigns” full of half-truths at best and deliberate falsehoods at worse. Let’s set the record straight with accurate quotes and voting records not taken out of context and not let manipulative media headlines influence our thinking.
Think for yourselves. Don’t even base your vote on who endorses who. I’ve had favorites who have backed other candidates I did not support. T’is the nature of politics as nobody is 100% in-line with your political philosophies.
Sarah Palin is a true gem of a person. She’s a fighter and an exemplar of the common American: humble, generous, a team player, patriotic, self-reliant, and she puts her family first. She and her family have endured the most vicious attacks since she was first named by John McCain. It is that fact that makes her so well thought of by her fellow citizens. We see that she has been so wronged, yet she stood with class and courage. God bless Sarah Palin.
Like that’s the ONLY alternative...?
She has just assured us of
OBAMA vs. MITTENS.
Thanks a lot, Sarah.
I didn’t think he could take it to the finish line but as you said he is resonating and gaining ground.
He’s the obvious arch-conservative choice at this juncture..
Because she would have raised money quickly, just like Perry has.
I can’t believe you would turn on her like that. She’s a woman of integrity, honor and courage. Her whole life has been “ruined” in a sense by what’s been asked of her by her country in this brutal era. She will continue to serve and serve well. She may be President one day.
Many have sensed how mercurial a segment of Palin’s base — the fangirls (not all fangirls are women) — are. Today proves it.
I don’t want ANY of the current candidates.
Really, Sarah should have said something sooner. I wonder if there are other candidates that stayed out because of the possibility of her running.
Sorry, I’m not impressed she waited this long. The reason to hang on this long was NOT in her supporters best interest.
I’m very surprised.
I see that although you were completely wrong about Palin, your personal attacks aren't going to end anytime soon. You have even less credibility than Sarah Palin at this point.
She didn’t “play” anybody you moron. If you’ve been “mistreated” by her supporters, it’s easy to see why.
If she ran she’d split the conservatives between Cain, perry and herself. Easy win for Romney.
Thank you again.
Extend grace to those who frequently wouldn’t do the same...wise advise. Not easy, but wise.
Have a heart. LOL
As long as she was a potential candidate she was relevent --- and marketable.
You sound pretty reasonable to me freshman—welcome to FR.
Perch and rotate.
Go Hermie! You da man.
Perhaps. She may re-donate the money to the eventual nominee. Or use it to support various House races that are too small to garner national attention.
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she was ready to jump in if the time was right. Between the media attacks and the sheer number of candidates, it's hard to blame her for dropping out.
Hey, it was a great dream but you don’t always get what you want. Fortunately there are a couple of good back up choices. Not sure where all this Romney winning with 25% is coming from. The Tea Party still has something to say about the winner of this battle.
Hate it when Kraut/Kristol get to gloat.
Pray for America
I think it would be cute to transform the "c" into an "r".
Partially that's because I think it confers an air of dignity. "Mister Cain"
Sane conservatives don't vote for liberals of any stripe... Democrat or Republican! And the proof is all over FR.
FINALLY we can get past all the silly “wait till Palin joins the race comments” and focus on who is actually running.
Your country continues (as it has been for about 3 years) to be under assault. Think about this great Republic and what each of us can do to save it. Respectfully.
Yep- he’s on ascendency. Strong message, right message.
I have liked other lessers but he is breaking away from the pack.
I don’t go with the lead pony; but he is a real conservative who is gaining momentum.
Bummer for SP but it’s about the best run for the USA.
I understand the frustration. I love Palin, but I did not become a Palin-Waiter (as opposed to a Palin-Hater).
I learned a lesson long ago about expectations. Expectations are the largest cause of stress and arguments in our lives, especially in our marriages.
Many times we expect something, but it does not happen and it hurts.
Ask yourself, why did I expect this? What made me expect this? Why should I expect this to happen?
Get a handle on your expectations and your life improves dramatically.
Yes. But Perry declared two months ago, and his lack of organization has already shown. It's no coincidence that Romney, who has never really dismantled his organization from 2008, is the lead horse at this point. I'm not saying that Romney will win, but he has a serious advantage because of his team. Romney has his crap together. Sarah doesn't. So far, Perry doesn't appear to, either.
I hope her time comes in 2020 after two Cain terms. Sarah was my first choice, but I was wavering between Cain and Palin. A Cain-Palin ticket would be great, but maybe her working to get like-minded candidates elected to the House and Senate will serve the nation better while still being able to tend to her wonderful family.
Kudos to Sarah.
I’m betting that she realized she has a hard time being elected and did the selfless thing, stepping into the background and letting someone else take up the conservative mantle.
I don’t think so. A good executive knows how to pick the best people for the job and how to delegate. We already know he’s been an excellent CEO.
A pawn becomes a queen if it manages to cross the whole board.
I'm from Michigan. I'm familiar with the Romneys. Dad was a RINO. Son doesn't fall far from the tree. He's flipped more times with his positions than John Kerry. Romneycare. Abortion flips. Gay flips. Strapped his dog in a cage on top of his car while going cross country. Gun grabber. Laid off a ton of people through Bain Capital. With jobs as the number one issue, Bain will be brought up over and over.
Besides all of that, he has trouble closing the sale. 08 was set up for him to win. He couldn't beat McCain. I think he is the least electable candidate against Obama too, including Palin.
I'll even vote Huntsman over Romney. I don't know who I'm backing. I'm considering Perry and Cain right now. I think Huntsman is the most electable, but I'm not sure I can pull that lever.
(seriously good post. It’s a testament to how much hurt there is going around that it took 200+ posts to get something like this)
Thats a fact. How stupid to claim to have faith that she could be the President of this nation and make all the decisions involved but not have faith that she made the right decision now.
That said Newt is very smart, but I doubt he will get the nomination
Cain will not win. Cain and Perry will split the conservative vote. Romney will win the nomination and probably the Presidency. The only option is either Cain or Perry to gain enough in strength to knock the other out and get their endorsement. I don’t see Perry bowing out. If Cain continues to do well I don’t him quitting or needing to quit. So there we are.
They may not currently like each other, but they may find they need each other. If they do not join, Romney is likely to win.
Cain needs somebody with government executive experience. Perry needs somebody more conservative to give him more credibility with the TEA Party people who've soured on him due to his immigration position. The two of them together may beat Romney.
Cain it is, then.
Second, I always said, I would support Sarah No Matter her decision, and I still do.
Third, S*** just got real, The UNITED states of America won't survive four more years of Ubama, and this is a major set back in that direction.
FOURTH, the GOP had better not nominate and Ubama lite (aka Romney), other wise, Well, G_D have mercy.
Oh Yeah, I still say GO SARAH, GO!!
