With Sarah out, which conservative candidate has the best shot of knocking out Romney and Obama?
vanity poll | Oct 5, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 10/05/2011 5:06:47 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

My personal favorites are:

1) Bachmann

2) Cain

3) perry

Cannot get excited about Gingrich or Santorum.

CAIN.

I have no problems with Bachmann. I've been growing suspicious of Perry (with his "heartless" comment).

If the GOP nominee is Romney, I'll write in Gov. Palin.

Palin as Sec. of Energy

I would like that too. Just to go out on a limb, what do you think Cain saying something like "If I'm elected, I would appoint Sarah Palin as Sec. of Energy". How would that resonate? Negative or positive?

As for my preference, I am with Cain right now but, like so many others, want to see how the rest of the debates go.

I say Cain. Kind of odd if the 2008 nominee would be McCain, and the 2012 nominee would be Cain. Kind of like Peat and Repeat except in reverse order.

Perry isn’t a conservative and isn’t honest. He should be ruled entirely out of consideration, just as McCain should have been four years ago.

Bachmann is conservative but not a great candidate. Ditto Santorum. Gingrich is conservative when the wind blows the right direction.

Cain is conservative and has the potential to become great.

How do you know Perry voted for Carter and Mondale? If you look at old news article from the 80s and early 90s when he first started his career, papers like the Austin American Statesman called him a "Conservative Democrat" and "Reagan Democrat" and he was with a wave of Reagan Democrats that switched parties shortly after Phil Gramm did.

There are no news articles I can find in the archives with any quotes or ay evidence Perry supported either Carter or Mondale.

Here are all news articles referencing Rick Perry from 1979 to 1992- show us anything that says he voted for or supported Carter or Mondale.

Between Cain, Perry and Romney, can you name the one who has run for office the most times and is the only one of the three not to lose a race? That’s the guy I think will beat Obama. Not the ideal choice but the best-credentialed to win it all.

I like that. Someone also suggested Sarah as Secretary of Energy.

And no one for Secretary of Education because the department of education would be disbanded!

At this point I honestly don’t know who has the best shot at shutting down Mittens and 0 but it’s between Cain, Bachman and Perry for me. Have to wait awhile and see what transpires.

Cain.

And I would like Bachmann and Newt in cabinet positions.

I prefer Cain, but actually, I will take anyone over Obama, so I'm just along for the ride. I still think the nominee will be Romney and always have, but if it's Cain, that would be both frightening and awesome!

Perry has the best shot financially. He raised more money in 49 days then Mittens

And most of Ricardo’s dough probably came from the pro-illegals interests, LaRaza, CASA, the US slave labor industries, etc. Who else would give him that kinda money?

it would be a vitriolfest to make 2008’s bias look moderate by comparison.

It's going to be that regardless of who wins the GOP nomination.

Which candidate has the best shot of knocking out Obama?

Ralph Nader. Not that he could win, but his candidacy is probably the only way Cain could come out on top.

FWIW, I wonder how much of Romney's trouble has to do with his father's automobile background. I doesn't matter how lousy your car was last year or the year before if this year's model has what the buyers want. Unfortunately politics isn't like that. Maybe the car business isn't quite like that either -- if this year's model is brilliant, but you can't count on spare parts and repairs a few years down the road, you may not buy it.

Cain. Period! He was my choice from the beginning. He was my choice for Senate from GA in 2004, and is my choice now!

Very depressing, seriously which it has been for awhile. I was hoping for Palin and Rubio together. If any of those on your list are standing, I will vote for any of those vs Romney. I have friends who are so upset about Palin, they have given up. They want a conservative. Hope the others live up to the backgrounds exams.

You asked the question:

which conservative candidate has the best shot of knocking out Romney and Obama?

Do you or anyone seriously think that Bachmann or Cain have a chance of beating Romney and Obama? This is not a "beauty contest" (as in who is "the most conservative that we like"), the fate of the nation is at stake.

I think it's time for conservatives to wake up and smell reality that a) Perry IS a conservative and b) he IS the ONLY conservative who is electable -- can beat Romney and Obama.
