Christie, Palin Out, So This Is Your Team, GOP Voters
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 10/6/2011 | Ed Carson

Sarah Palin announced Wednesday that she will not seek the GOP presidential nomination. A day earlier, Chris Christie re-confirmed he would not throw his hat into the ring.

The message to Republican voters: The current list of candidates is your team, even if you feel the same way as the Milan High student body did about their Jimmy Chitwood-less basketball team in Hoosiers.

It’s only a matter of time before Palin and Christie are on Dancing With the Stars.

Let’s hope the Tea Party can keep the rally going for 2012.

I do agree with the blogger, a 2nd rate republican president is not as important as first rate conservative legislators.

I do wonder what a Romney or Perry might do if the congress came up with the Obamacare repeal, immigration, deep cuts to the EPA(no more AGW nonesense), Education, abortion, etc...

It would not surprise me if Romney vetoed such bills.

It seems that everyone made a trip to NY to meet with the Donald (?!), I now want to hear about the trips to call on Governor Palin from Perry and Cain, ASAP.

Not happy at all, I know it can’t be Mitt or Perry, guess I’ll look at Cain.

I agree -- I don't trust the man. That's why he's number six on my list of the current field (behind Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum). But if he's the candidate, I'm voting for him -- Zero simply can't win another term.

It is fluid, but at the moment this order:

Cain
Gingrich
Bachmann
Huntsman
Paul
Romney
Santorum

I would vote for Mickey Mouse if he was the nominee.

Except for Cheney.

Dick Cheney should step in to save the country.

Draft Dick Cheney.

I know its a long shot of long shots. But he’s the only one out there consistently saying the things that need to be said. Across the board. He’s the only one with experience who has some fight in him.

Draft Dick Cheney

To me, that's Job One. NONE of the GOP candidates would do the damage to this country wrought by a second Obama term. He's GOT to go.

We do have to make sure we find more conservative legislators. That is priority number 1. As for president, long term campaign would probably still point to establishment, which means Romney. That means much more work for those who do not desire him as the nominee. I have thought for about 2 weeks the conservative fallback position may come down to Newt. I do not exactly relish that either, but he does have deep experience despite the ‘couch smooch’ with Nancy.

Draft Dick Cheney.

Two glaring problems with Cheney:

1) His health is bad... I honestly don't think he'd survive the stress of even a single Presidential term.

2) He's OK with homosexual "marriage."

If nothing else, I believe we can count on holding the house and the senate after 2012. I can be satisfied with that.

Cheney would have fairly high odds of not even making it through a campaign.
