Quickly and baldly too. Sarah Palin is a magnificent and compelling woman with great integrity. She is not a goddess, and cultists do her no service.
I hope she remains in the game in some capacity, and am confident she will. God bless and keep her.

That’s just ridiculous! Conservatives vote on content of character, not color. If all you see when you look at Cain then you need to rethink your own prejudices.

A total load of baloney! The contrast between Cain and Obama is exactly what can cure that problem.
To be truthful, I’m not sure how many fence-sitting “moderates” there are in times of extreme polarization.
Right now the only people who should even be able to CONSIDER a vote for Obama are those who like high unemployment, like a lawless Justice Department, like deficits higher than our children will ever be able to pay off, like the world being taken over by Islamists, like taxpayer money being spent to pay off campaign contributions by loaning to fake green companies that immediately go bankrupt and take the money with them, like a White House that tells military officers to change their testimony before Congress, and like a POTUS who has forged, perjured, and bribed his way into office.
Seems to me that we have 2 groups of people in the US today: those who see Obama for who he is, and those who are lazy and/or communist enough to listen only to the MSM.
I’m not sure what that does to the old paradigm of “moderates”.
Gingrich was asked if one of the other candidates got the nomination would he accept a VP position if asked, and he said he would not turn it down.

And, by the way, in the (extremely) unllikely event that a non-politician is half of the ticket, the other half will need to have EXPERIENCE - I mean, like Dick Cheney experience.

I doubt this guy sees Herman as just a black man. He just figures that the average voter will see Herman as just a black man. And the problem with that view is that if the American electorate is that stupid and shallow we are lost no matter who we nominate.

One more thing: it's pretty clear that Obama has been crippled by his lack of political experience. There is no question that Obama is very liberal, but he has shown himself to be over his head in terms of politics. In fact, because of that, liberals are pretty unhappy with the guy right now.
Query: do we want the conservative version of Obama? That is, someone who is unquestionably conservative but simply doesn't understand how the politics work? Or would we rather have the conservative version of Bill Clinton, who, while maybe not an orthodox, knew how to get things done?
Well, some Palin admirers (I'm one) knew all along that there was a good chance that Sarah Palin wouldn't run so we were looking over her shoulder at the rest of the pack, hoping to find a conservative substitute. I never warmed up to Perry, even when he had good poll numbers but Herman Cain intrigued me on various levels. However, I kept waiting for Palin's decision. Now, I have it. She's out. Although anything can happen in politics, I seriously doubt this Cain/Palin fantasy will ever happen. Although I chafe at the complaint that Cain lacks 'foreign policy experience', as if front-runner Romney, doesn't, I realize that he'll need a semi-moderate, Washington-savvy vice president. Much like Ronald Reagan had to put old Washington hand (and GOP establishment darling) George H.W. Bush on the ticket in 1980. That being the case, Sarah Palin would not qualify so I don't see it happening. In addition, Palin already ran as a VP and I can't believe she'd do that again. There were lots of reasons for Sarah Palin not to run (family, mostly, along with security concerns) and I don't see her taking on another national campaign to be second banana, again, so I vote: 'no deal' on this one.
Actaully, that’s very easily overcome. Dubya and Cheney were both Texans up until a couple of days before Cheney became VP, then he changed his residence to his former hometown in Wyoming. If West resigned his seat and established residence in another state or Herman changed his residency, they could run on the same ticket.
