I'm not sure if the reporter wrote the title and first paragraph of the article. It seems to go one way at first, i.e. "This president endures with little joy the small talk" but then wanders into a pointless summary of Obama's first few years in office. It almost returns to the original point at the end, "“the person running out of air most quickly” is Obama himself, and there may not be many who come to his rescue" but not quite.

The title could just as well have been "Obama, the loser president" for all the content of the article.

Obama prefers to rule thru his czars and political fellow travelers. His has disdain for representative government. His inclinations are towards tyranny and despotism.

That is the defense to everything that has happened: Obama removed him self from the day to day stuff and just handled the big issues. It is a form of a heat shield.

Guarantee the legal notion of “should have known” will NEVER be addressed with this guy by the media.

Interesting article. He is definitely short on people skills and comes across as a cold fish. My personal take is that he thinks he’s better than everybody else and he’d do well to learn you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

He is so cool, that he’s cold and aloof. Remember how uncomfortable he looked at the “acting stupidly” beer summit in the back yard of the White Crib?

i could take “cool and aloof” - his biggest problem is he is misguided and incompetent. a very bad combo.

He’s like many other leftist ideologues — he has no human warmth because has the power of the state and the state, in his mind, is above the people. Despite all the rhetoric about empowering people, he is like drug pusher and has contempt for his dependent junkies. However, instead of pushing actual drugs, liberals push dependency on the Federal government. Once the people are hooked on Federal money, they can be controlled and manipulated. People always wonder why many of the rich are so liberal. It’s all about control. Bread and Circuses has now become SSI and WIC.

Hey, what can one say—Americans cotton to dick-taters.

We thought 0bama was going to be a great, first black president even if he was a democRAT, and all the people would come together in love and harmony
but he is doing just the opposite.

We gave him a chance. He can say anything he wants but the people
are suffering because of him and he can’t keep the wool over our eyes any longer.

Let's not overthink this. Obama won the election, so he shouldn't have to "do politics" any more. I mean, once you're king of the hill, every one else does the heavy lifting for you, right?

Anyway, so what if he's a cold fish? If his policies where any good he wouldn't be sliding down into the 30s. In the end, it all comes down to product and performance, and on both counts, Obama stinks.

this one quote captures the core of the political and public policy problem for this self-regarding jackass:

“The president’s supreme confidence in his intellectual abilities... “

this president is a classic illustration of the Dunning-Krueger effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

Obama isn’t smart enough to recognize how little he actually knows about either politics or policy. He chose his advisors primarily based on ivy league academic pedigree, regardless of their history of advocating disastrous policies (Summers, Romer etc)

Neither Obama or any of his clueless advisors apparently read the Reinhardt and Rogoff book. http://www.amazon.com/This-Time-Different-Centuries-Financial/dp/product-description/0691142165

If they had they would have known that the history of economic recovery after a housing crash is many years of slow growth.

Instead, Obama and his advisors bet on a quick recovery, devised a “stimulus” plan and health care plan based on paying off democrat interest groups and burnishing Zeros “historic legacy”.

Even now, in political trouble, the president that “historian” Michael Beschloss imagines is the “most intelligent to every occupy the white house” goes back to old style liberal, populist appeals, even as they drive down business confidence and make the economy worse.

Total fail ! My tagline stays until the 2012 election.

Bottom line - this President wants the perks of the Presidency, including world class treatment, fawning press, fawning world, etc., but wants nothing to do with the day to day work required to make intelligent decisions. His approach is “my way” without taking time to consider that “his way” may not be the best way. He is lazy, arrogant and is really nothing more than a puppet for the mob and the Chicago way. He resents anything remotely resembling work and would rather golf and dine with world leaders than be consigned to the drudgery that is required to make a truly great leader.

Sounds like my current boss who says he doesn’t want to be bothered with the small stuff — like maybe running the office? Yeah, I see what “face time” vice knowing what the heck is going on does to an office and to a nation. My boss voted for O — two gen X peas in a pod.

I'm seeing more and more comparisons to Clinton in the MSM lately.

But why is there only a comparison with Clinton in this article? George W. loved people and rarely was there a day when we didn't see a photo of him in the middle of a crowd.

Another thing missing from this Obama administration...pics of him in the Oval Office with world leaders.

Seems he disdains spending time with them as well. Bush? Couple times a week, not including phone calls.

Well, for starters, his high grades in school, from kindergarten through Hahvahd.

Then there are the brilliant articles he wrote while editor of the Hahvahd law review.

And his flawless voting record in state government and the US Senate.

Not to mention his stellar pronunciation of POKeestan...

To a narcissist people are merely things to be used for their purposes.

Obama is cold? Why bother being warm to a wrench or a nail or a square of toilet paper? Obama can be nothing but cold. He is devoid of the ability to be anything else.

(Now, imagine you’re Moochelle or Malia or Sasha....)

Profile of a sociopath

Interesting excerpt from that webpage, below. Do these traits sound like someone we know?

(1) They are habitual liars. They seem incapable of either knowing or telling the truth about anything.

(2) They are egotistical to the point of narcissism. They really believe they are set apart from the rest of humanity by some special grace.

(3) They scapegoat; they are incapable of either having the insight or willingness to accept responsibility for anything they do. Whatever the problem, it is always someone else's fault.

(4) They are remorselessly vindictive when thwarted or exposed.

(5) Genuine religious, moral, or other values play no part in their lives. They have no empathy for others and are capable of violence. Under older psychological terminology, they fall into the category of psychopath or sociopath, but unlike the typical psychopath, their behavior is masked by a superficial social facade.

Obama’s support system was largely virtual, a vast database of young volunteers and small donors whom he reveled in bringing into politics.

The author left out Obama's most important support system, the quislings in the MSM. Even with the few articles that are now seeping out about his failing presidency, in the end Obama knows they will never abandon him even if the electorate does.

Thanks for the Dunning-Kruger info. It correlates with my studies of IQ.

Excerpt: “A Framework of Intelligence
If a person has a low verbal epistemic intelligence he is not able to think realistically about his own thoughts (which is a flow of visual/spatial images). In addition to that the quality of his thoughts is also low. He may know how to react (what to say, how to say it, what to do- which is analytic intelligence) to his environment, but the justification he has is completely self-centered and selfish. Ethical thinking is complex thinking. A person with a low verbal epistemic intelligence can not think ethically. That causes most (severe) criminals to be therapy resistant. They just do not understand what the therapist says, although they may know what behaviour is expected from them. (Of course an antisocial person is not just antisocial due to his poor epistemic intelligence. Temperament is also important, or being a thrill seeker.) (On average:) An antisocial (which has a low epistemic IQ) with a lower analytic IQ will have a greater change of being caught. If he has a higher analytic IQ, he will get more of what he likes and he has more to loose. (They may become criminal when it is an anarchy.) They both have equal difficulty with understanding their own emotions and thoughts and those of others. They have equal difficulty with controlling their emotions and refraining from impulses. A person with a higher analytic IQ will try to ‘get even’ nonviolently.”

If Obama is aloof and uninterested in the drudge work needed to push his agenda, we should all be thankful.

What if Obama were a roaring freight train like Lyndon Baines Johnson? LBJ was already an experienced senator then Senate majority leader, spent a hiatus as VP then following the JFK assassination jumped into the saddle and took off, dragging Congress behind him. Cajoling, pressuring, armtwisting, LBJ did it all pushing liberal legislation through like a flood. Unfortunately for LBJ, this included escalating the Vietnam war until his entire presidency choked on it and he chose not to seek a second term. The train wreck known as the late Sixties followed in his wake.

Again, let us be grateful that Obama is no LBJ.
