Skip to comments.Herman Cain: pizza boss, radio host, ballistics expert, minister. President?

He is the latest Tea Party favourite to burst through in the increasingly heated race for the Republican presidential nomination and see their poll numbers rocket them to frontrunner status.
However, unlike previous rightwing darlings such as Texas governor Rick Perry and Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann, wealthy businessman Herman Cain, 65, can claim to be cut from a very different sort of cloth from the average Republican candidate.
First, he is not actually a politician. Cain, whose CV includes being a radio show host, a navy ballistics expert, a Baptist minister and a Federal Reserve official, has never held elected office in his life. His most famous job was as chief executive of the fast-food firm Godfather's Pizza.
Yet none of that seemed to matter to the cheering crowds at the Values Voter Summit in a Washington DC hotel late last week. There was much to celebrate. A Zogby opinion poll had just boosted Cain into first place in the race, with 38% of the vote, compared with 18% for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. Perry trailed in third place with 12%. The study even showed Cain beating President Barack Obama in a match-up by 46% to 44%.

What??? His life is an open book, he's a proven leader from a very young age. He isn't part of the established governmental entity which has thrown us into this horrid mess we're in. And thank God for that!
If you want to know anything about him or his life and successes, all you have to do is look things up on the net. You will find out everything you want to know, however, I feel you probably don't want to know. :)
From what I've seen, anyone who says he's unknown, doesn't want to know how successful he's been from such a humble beginning.
If Cain was successful in his business then that means he hired people in key positions that had a record of experience not just some people with no qualifications for the job they were applying for.
If you don’t have experience in the job you are applying for, you don’t get hired, period.
Cain is asking you to hire him with no job experience to prove that he has actually been successful as a proven leader.
Cain wouldn’t hire Cain.
You have already seen him backtrack on things he has said, and he's been under very little pressure.
What events occurred to cause the drastic increase in the top tier tax rates shown on your chart from 1916 to 1918?
Obumbles wont be running in the Republican primaries, and I doubt anybody will be voting for Cain other that some in the first primary or two.
Like Santorum, Backmann, Cain is unlikely to have the money to go far.
I have a question for everyone....Has Cain even filed paperwork to get on the ballot in the early state primaries? Iowa, NH, SC, NV, Mi, etc ?
Last I heard he doesn't even have a campaign team in most states.
“Last I heard he doesn’t even have a campaign team in most states.”
Last you heard form whom? Or did you mean “my best guess?” Or did you just pull that out of your nethers?
You mean he is going to hire a bunch of unproven people with no experience in the job he’s giving them should he get to be president?
If you don’t have experience in the job you are applying for you dont’ get the job, period.
You might get to be pizza delivery boy, but thats it.
I agree. He has no experience for the job of President. He only has experience as a businessman,
A shrewd businessman would never hire anyone with no experience for key positions.
Cain wouldn’t hire Cain.
It's even somewhat more comical the way they make the claim that Cain is running his campaign in a dynamic fashion and anyone of higher intellect would certainly choose Cain like they have. When 6 months ago, when Cain first joined the race and Palin was seemingly “unstoppable” “Inelectale” “President Palin”, etc,,, the same people told us all the reasons that Cain could not win. He was unqualified, inexperienced, just a Pizza Man, etc,,,.
It's ironic how even they don't see that we know them better than they realize and they continue on like they were Cain supporters from the very beginning. Only the nasty attacks and rhetoric has not decreased in any fashion. If anything, they are getting worse. (If you don't believe me, just go to any Pro Perry thread)
The office of POTUS is like no other. That is why there have only been 44.
The American people are charged with interviewing the primary candidates and electing the person who best meets their requirements.
A President is not hired - there is no ‘career’ path or educational degree required. It is not a profession!!!
That’s your opinion, and I respect it. I just don’t agree.
My quarrel is with people coming on here ignorantly minimizing his huge achievements in his life by saying his expertise is in delivering pizzas.
“Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss.”
There is a reason that most political reporters discount him in the nomination race, he doesn't have a campaign set up.
Even his bus says...National book tour, in huge letters.
Yes, campaigning for the POTUS is a great way to sell books.
Oh I DO know, and I have noticed the very same thing. But then we’ve been through this in 2000, 2004, and 2008 we’ve learned to recognize it.
“It takes political ‘savvy’ to get anything done in Washington.”
Political ‘savvy’ got us where we are. If you are looking for professional spenders of other people’s money, Cain is not your man.
Career politicians are the problem, not the solution.
LOL! You might try educating yourself a bit. That's too funny!
“Yes, campaigning for the POTUS is a great way to sell books.”
Except the “campaigning for the POTUS” is missing in his national book tour.
