Presidential race loses fizz for Tea Party
Reuters ^ | Oct 9, 2011 | Patricia Zengerle and Eric Johnson WASHINGTON/CHICAGO

Posted on 10/09/2011 2:22:05 PM PDT by mdittmar

With their favored candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination lagging or out of the race, many U.S. Tea Party activists are shifting focus to the struggle for control of the U.S. Senate.

The fizz has gone out of the presidential contest for some supporters of the fiscally conservative movement now that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is not running and Texas Governor Rick Perry and congresswoman Michele Bachmann are slipping in polls.

"No one is going to get perfect in a general election candidate. That is why we think the Senate is a better place to focus," said Matt Kibbe, president and chief executive of the libertarian FreedomWorks, a Tea Party group.

In the 2010 mid-term elections, Tea Party opposition to President Barack Obama's policies played a big role in slashing the Democrats' majority in the 100-member Senate to just six seats and eliminating their majority in the House of Representatives.

With 23 of the 33 Senate seats up for grabs next year now held by Democrats, and a wave of public hostility to incumbents, Tea Party activists said they looked forward to more Republican gains in 2012.

Not a good sign. Hopefully Sarah kingmaker Palin is working behind the scenes to keep her title.

This is the “we need to stop the TP” memo du jour.

In less than 24 hours Reuters will run several TP is a growing threat - articles.

The important stuff is hidden in paragraph 13:

“Some are shifting allegiance to Herman Cain, who has gained in recent polls and appeals to Tea Party activists with a plan to drastically overhaul the tax code, but Cain has yet to prove he can assemble the strong campaign team or attract the level of donations he would need to secure the nomination.”

I sent Cain money last week, the first Presidential candidate to get money from me ever. (The Swift Boat Vets got some).

The Tea Party is just a group of like-minded individuals who think we are "Taxed Enough Aready!"

When the liberals spew against them, they are only digging their own holes....deeper.

And the demonstrations taking place in some cities will come back against the Democrats...last time they tried it (1960's) , they put Nixon in office.

How about a challenge to the MSM? We tell a Tea Party organization that Cain will speak, have them contact their members, and then see if anyone really shows up.

What a dishonest and nonsensical piece! Bachmann and Perry have slipped because the tea party types have seen them and have their doubts about both of them. Cain has surged because tea party types have gotten to know him and like what they see. Romney has held steady because he was never and still is not supported by tea party conservatives. How does this add up to tea party supporters being dispirited?

McCain was the best lesson that the MSM could ever have given us.
We have learned their tricks. We can now identify their propaganda.
We are no longer USEFUL IDIOTS.
They are petrified of the tea party. Cain IS the poster buy for the tea party.
Don’t get discouraged.
Don’t let your guard down.
We have to first fight the Republican establishment. Then the liberal Marxist.
I am not retreating.

The important races in 2012 always have been in the Senate and the House, and the race for President will be mostly a sidenote; because it will be much harder to come up with a Republican nominee than it will be for that nominee to beat Premier Hussein.

The work that was begun in the 2010 midterm elections has to be carried forward to 2012. Instead of trying to get Marco Rubio to run for Veep, we need to focus on sending him reinforcements in the Senate, and continue cleaning that ‘Rathole out.

Um, what planet does Reuters live on? Cain, Bachmann and
Santorum are all conservatives. Tea Party Conservatives will have no difficulty voting for any of them—despite our disappointment in Palin’s decision to be a queen/king maker rather than a queen.

We will not vote RINO again. Therefore, Romney and Perry are unelectable. We won’t vote for them because they are nothing more than demrats by another name. The RINO game is up.

It is hugely imporantant that Tea Party leaders put out the American Third Way - a restoration of the US constitution and an end to socialist debt oppression and Bush’s homeland inSecurity (war on terrorism) abuse of the constitution’s Bill of Rights. No more croney capitalism!

Sure it wasn’t a reference to “Mad Hatter Tea Party?”

That's probable, since the overall theme seemed to be derived from 'Alice in Wonderland', but there is NO question that the answers were designed to portray the current movement in a negative light.

Exactly right, in order to support a candidate for the most part you have to like him, and like his story. Herman Cain is very like-able. Bachmann may have been at one time, but not much now, Perry was not really like-able, and after insults to Conservatives about big issues for them, he is getting to be disliked.

At the Presidency V Convention and straw poll Herman Cain was very well liked, and since SP was not on the Ballot, he was the closest in values, beliefs, etc, so they voted for Herman Cain. They really adore the man so it was not a hard choice for them, and they did not want the Media and the leftwing Pubbies picking their candidate, no way no how.

There is a huge Tea Party movement in Florida that is pounding on the Elitist Hierarchy in the RPOF. They have meetings in my area every week, and have speakers that educate attendees on all matters that will effect us all. They have question and answer periods also.

Herman Cain's story would make a great Movie, and I could almost write the script right now. It can practically write itself. Herman could even sing the title Song from the movie.

The biggest mistake the GOpers and Palinites make is thinking the Tea Party is a political candidate or “leader”. They are not.

They organized organically from independents, democrats and Republicans to oppose global and National croney capitalism (fasism) with TARP and globalist “free” trade agreements, and Government Motors and to oppose Obamacare (Marxism) and stimilous as solutions to the corruption of capitalism. Not any one person of the GoP nor any “leader” such as Palin has any claim to them. Palinbots will follow whatever she dictates and Cainbots will try to continue on with a cult of obedience. The Tea Party won’t follow them.

I am a person who first organized the Tea Party in my State and area. I know what I am talking about because I get called on all the time to bitch about lies put in the medial and from Palin and Cain bot idiots. That Palin went for McCain twice is a big deal. She’s not trusted in my area of the Texas Tea Party. That was before she led her believers on and then pulled out. Her recent verbage against “croney capitalism” has hit a big and resounding note. But she has a lot of strikes against her.

If we keep up this limited and lying GOP serving view of the Tea Party, it will be defeated by the fascists and Marxists. It belongs to ideals of the constitutional Republic - not to any self serving and self annoited “leader.” The GOP must compete for it’s support based on it’s vision of government and freedom. None are doing that at the moment. They have to get with it and they won’t as long as conservatives play mindless idol worship.
