It’s over. Once Fred Karger and Buddy Roemer drop out and endorse him Willard will have it all wrapped up.
I doubt I would ever vote for a NE republican. They aren’t much different than dems.

The way I see it, when the other behind-running conservatives get out of the race, their votes will probably be going to Cain. I can’t see them going to Romney.

Then why is he polling so poorly?
Chris Christie going to Dartmouth to endorse Romney on the day the debate is in Dartmouth. What a desperate act.
The elite permanent political class RINOs are worried. They’re pulling out all the stops to coronate Romney immediately. They did everything they could to get Christie to run, including arranging Henry Kissinger meetings, having Barbara Bush call to pressure him, and lining up all the Wall Street big money donors for him. When Christie couldn’t be persuaded, all of the big money donors agreed to turn their financial support to Romney. Romney wasn’t their first choice, but now he’s their only choice.
My God, they’re really going to do it - force a McCain v2.0 on us. This might be the only way another Obamanation term can be ensured.
He hurt himself; yes. But it is foolish in my view (not calling you a fool friend) to rule him out. Listen, he is imminently more qualified than Mr. Cain and he’s got rock solid conservative bonafides. The Marlboro man good looks don’t hurt either. Am I saying some voters vote on looks? Absolutely.

It isn’t surprising that Cain would be Romney’s VP. It isn’t just that you’re hearing that, Cain has said he would be anybody’s VP but Perry’s. Only Romney is on that list, because it’s Romney’s to lose.
But that isn’t even the story...here’s the story, and even the great Rush has failed to catch this, or else he doesn’t want to say it against Cain:
CAIN when asked about Romney:
“Romney is a good choice, but I believe he can’t win.”
Cain went on to say that Romney’s one problem is his Mormonism, which is unpopular, especially in the South.
In that interview, he did not mention Romney’s liberalism or his flipflops or anything else. Except for his religion which is his political problem, Cain says “Romney is a good choice”.
The primaries will determine who gets the nod. And I’m voting for Cain.
Karger is just a stalking horse for Roemer. In fact, they both may be only in the race to throw it to Pat Paulsen when he gets in.
I am not ruling out Perrys’ chances, he’s got money enough to stay in this thing and embarrass himself to no end. I am just ruling out the idea that I will (in the primary) vote for him, donate to him or volunteer for him.
Cain is running for Romney’s VP.
Apparently I a not falling for it. You don’t seriously think he would come out and SAY he was running for VP, do you?
He probably thinks he can beat Romney, and he’s right.
Cain likes Romney too, except for the one problem of Romney’s religion making him unpopular in the South.

Christie just lost a GREAT deal of my respect.
Every time a party out of power chooses a nominee to oppose a sitting President it flirts with some implausible outsider that tugs at its heartstrings. The names are familiar, but none of them won a nomination — Dean, Buchanan, Tsongas, Jackson, etc. Cain is the latest in a long line. He has no more chance to beat Perry and Romney this year than Buchanan had of beating Dole in ‘96 or Dean had of beating Kerry in 2004.
Cain's isn't even close to the strongest of the futile ousider candidacies. That honor would probably go to the Dean campaign. Dean had double digit leads both in Iowa and nationally just a couple of weeks before the voting started. Gore endorsed him. Then he finished third after a mysterious late surge by two more conventional candidates. Surprise, surprise, surprise.
That's the way it works. Uncoventional candidates can fire people up. They can poll well. They don't win. In the end voters play safe and cast ballots for conventional candidates.
Both Howard Dean and Pat Buchanan polled better at some early stage of the primary process than Cain does today. Both came acropper. Cain will too. The Republican Party will nominate either Rick Perry or Mitt Romney and Rush, in common with every rational conservative would prefer the former.
That's why Rush is trying to reduce the ridiculous Cain fever that so many conservatives seem to have come down with. It may seem like tough love, but it's really for your own good.
