Qualified to be president. The governorships are the training grounds for the presidency and no other candidate has served as long as he in that capacity. I mentioned good looks to make the point that that is an attribute that does not hurt but helps in elections. Some people do vote on looks; I do not include myself among them as last election I voted McCain over Obama.

I’m still having a hard time figuring out how HPV and Illegal Immigration (Perry’s two weakest points) have been argued ad nauseum in this debate, but Romney’s faults beyond Romneycare have not.

The fix is in, perhaps.

Apparently, you didn’t see this:

CAIN, when asked to comment on Mitt:

“Romney is a good choice, but I believe he can’t win.”

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jul/18/romneys-religion-a-barrier-to-republican-nod-cain-/?page=all

In the interview, Cain went on to critique Romney’s chances in only one way: he says Romney’s religion is so unpopular in the South, he can’t win.

Other than that nitpicky, “Romney is a good choice”.

Rush isn’t negative on Cain. It would be nice if Rush would drop the delusion that Perry’s record can be ignored, but that’s not surprising from a guy who tried to pretend that Romney was acceptable in 2008.

This is meant to derail the Cain train.

Cain is winning the conservative polls and he tied or within striking distance on general polls - including those out of New Hampshire, SC and IA.

It won’t work. People dislike Christie for the same reasons as they dislike Romney. True conservatives will come out for Cain.

Well, if all it takes is a long record of being governor to overshadow a record of shocking corruption, it’s a shame Bob Taft isn’t running. He could really do well.

RINO C endorses RINO R, what a surprise!

I couldn’t possibly vote for either of them.

This is gonna be a battle, and it is going to take money, a LOT of it, in order to fight it and win.

That's the point I've been making.

But there are still Cain supporters that think he can do it with nothing more than a smile and few jokes--no campaign strategy, no campaign staff to speak of, no money, no attempt to study and understand "hard" stuff like foreign policy etc. In fact, the less prepared and more poorly funded he is, the stronger they think he is.

B.S.

He's got to get off his seat-of-the-pants book tour campaign and start acting like a serious candidate. If he doesn't get serious NOW, if he doesn't take full advantage of his surge in the polls, if doesn't start dragging in tens of millions of dollars, if he doesn't put together a top tier campaign team, he's going to be absolutely destroyed in the general election if he gets that far.

He is NOT going to get elected unless a substantial number of voters in addition to his Tea Party supporters are convinced that he's fully prepared, serious, and thoughtful. He's got to start making that sale NOW.

“Sorry to hear this, let’s see who Sarah endorses.”

IMO her endorsement power was at the lower level like Senate or House seats. If she endorses at the top level it could hurt her where she is most effective.

Of course, I believe her endorsement abilities may be diminished now that she is not running for POTUS. I believe the much, not all or most, of her endorsement power lay in her perceived run for POTUS by her base. With her out of running, her effectiveness will be diminished some...maybe very little...maybe a lot. I don’t really know, I just suspect it will.

The Marlboro man good looks don’t hurt either. Am I saying some voters vote on looks? Absolutely.

And Romney, Cain, Perry, Bachmann, and Huntsman all meet the “Good Looks” test: good-looking enough to be a TV news anchor, for instance.

“Cain needs an endorsement”

Right now, I think an endorsement by Hank Williams, Jr. would help Cain and make the press’ heads explode. It would be interesting. He was a BIG supporter of Palin in 2008.

Romney isn’t hoodwinking enough people to do himself any good.

Reading between the lines, to me it sounds like Rush is hoping Cain gets the support and the money he needs. That may be where Palin comes in. Cain is the closest thing we have to Palin, without having Palin.

Correct.

Palin really was our only chance in this election, and whoever got her to back out must be grinning from ear to ear right about now.
