Buoyed by a series of strong debate performances, Mitt Romney is suddenly attracting new support from major donors and elected officials, some of whom had resisted his previous entreaties, as people across the GOP grow more accepting of the presidential contender as the partyâs standard-bearer.
On Wednesday, Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and former House speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) became the latest in a string of current and former elected officials who have announced their support for Romney over the past week. Former Republican National Committee chairman Jim Nicholson, hedge fund manager Paul Singer and Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone are among the major Republican fundraisers supporting the candidate.
"It's all coming together for him," said Cochran, who formally endorsed Romney on Wednesday. "People are beginning to be impressed with him and his thoughtful comments about the issues."

You want a conservatives with a proven conservative record (which is unfrotunately being distorted by some), who is not a debater, but a strong executive, support Perry.
You want to spoiler, who will help Romney be the nominee, support Cain.
The choice is yours...
DRAFT SARAH.
In your heart, you know she's our only chance to make "winning the White House" have any REAL MEANING!
You are further removed from reality, than those who think Cain can win.
I caught a lot of flack here in 2008, when I threatened to vote Libertarian, since their candidate was more conservative than McCain. Not this time. Two people who will not get my vote?...Barak Obama and Mitt Romney.
“They’re doing it to us again”

Q20 If the Republican race for President came
down to Mitt Romney and Hermain Cain, who
would you vote for?
Mitt Romney.................................................... 36%
Herman Cain................................................... 48%
Not sure .......................................................... 16%
Clarity,
I admire your loyalty, but.. oh, never mind.
If you want a slick Northeast Liberal and someone who lost to McCain and would lose to obama vote for Rino Romney
If you want someone who calls you heartless because you don’t want to fund the education of millions of illegals
a deer in the headlights Bush number two who will go down in flames against Obama
Vote for LaRasa Rick
Sick of the MSM and the Rino Republican party picking your
Nominee and want a person of integrity, a true Leader, An out side of the political establishment candidate, The anti Obama Get on the Cain Train@!!!
If the Conservative voters don’t get their collective s*** together and end the reign of terror that is Obama then we will be equally responsible for the demise of America as we know it!!
Exactly.....promote the guy we rejected last time (McCain 2000, nominated 2008), figure he's better than the opponent, and find out he's worse than you imagined.
No thanks.
I'm sick of having the most "electable" RINO shoved down my throat. Perry has been a huge disappointment so far and he figures to be even less conservative than McCain.
Amnesty Rick is a goof who can't think on his feet—he would have to avoid debating Obama and then would lose for being a coward.
Romney is not a conservative and the Tea Party will pick our candidate and he/she will be a conservative—and so far it's Cain.
Perry is so over—Texas deserves to keep him—don't need no more open border Bushes.
“Inevitable Candidate?” Like hell we are! Stuff it WAPO!
The left will do what the left does: shape the playing field to assure their desired outcome. Nothing new and nothing to worry about. My advice is vote for your desired candidate in your state’s primaries. If you are really motivated and dedicated to your candidate, support him/her with your dollars and involvement in their campaign at your local level. In the general election I will vote for anyone but Obama, even if my candidate did not end up in the Presidential ticket. That said I’ll make sure my Congress critters stick to a conservative agenda so the keep any potential RINO President in check. IMHO, Third party voting or sitting the general election because your primary candidate did not make it is a de facto vote for Obama and the further destruction of our country.
Regards.
I assume you're talking about the Cain that's ahead of Romney right now.
You are being told what to think again by the media, the left, and the globalist.
You can convert all of FR to Perry but it will not overcome his poor debate performance and doubling-down on the tuiton thing. He was not ready with some sort of economic plan. So he’d better get his act together real fast or the primaries are going to take a toll. None of us want Romney and Cain is leading the way. But other people have to be convinced he is right for the job to defeat Obamanation. Early on Rick polled strong. Yeah it is like 2008 deja vu. Rick needs to study up fast. I would rather choose between Cain and Perry than have Romney in there. Time is getting short.
The one, only, and inevitable loser.
The Evangelical Christians will not accept Mitt, that is a given.
There is no “draft” of a candidate. That feature ended with the advent of primaries. A draft is something they do at the convention and it is only possible if there is a deadlock and no one can get a majority. Can’t happen. Were there to be a deadlock the man with the most money, Rommney far and away, would simply buy enough delegates to break the deadlock.
What republicans are they talking to? Mitt is my third to last choice among candidates. Decent man, I suppose and light years better than the retard in office now but not my choice, if I have one
Especially agree with that last sentence.
*sigh*
Corrected.
I absolutely refuse to pull a lever for another “hold your nose” candidate.
Done it too many times.
NEVER AGAIN!
Fortunately, as aforeseen, we will select our own candidate.
Your second and third choices are mixed up.
Obama and kagan than you for your support.
I have had it with the lying. Rick Perry is not for amnesty. Get your facts straight.
That’s SECRETARY Not sure. He’s going to fix the ecomony.
FUMR
Rick Perry is a joke, and will never be President.
Life long conservative Republican here.
Mitt Romney is neither.
He is a flip flopping opportunist and I will NOT support nor vote for his sorry RINO ass.
NO more hold my nose and support some flunky just because he is supported by the party.
NO to the likes of bob dole, john mc cain or mitt romney.
REAL conservatives or go fish.
I don’t care what the Carpetbaggers —and Republican Establishment -or the queer Nation say about MittyBoy being the nominee. I could care less I will be voting for Herman Cain in the election.IWILL NOT VOTE FOR ROMNEY AND same sex marriage—and ROMNEYCARE. ROMNEY is a paler shade of Barry SOETORO aka Barak Hussein Obama II.
If it were anyone other than obama, fine, but seriously, GROW UP!
We need to get obama the hell out of office! If bernie maddoff or the Hillside Strangler was going against obama I would support that.
Do you really desire obama four more years that much? 2 more kagans, more holders, more solyndras, more treason, etc.
Get a grip.
Yesterday, talk show host Hugh Hewitt was crowing that Romney is already the candidate, He argued that Cain’s success in the debates and his favorable poll numbers amount to nothing because he has no money. Hewitt kept telling his listeners that even though you hate him, “you WILL vote for Romney!”
WH is already running against Romney. Cain = Fred ‘no money & no organization’ Thompson.
“I have had it with the lying. Rick Perry is not for amnesty. Get your facts straight.”
The problem with Perry and many other pols, is not that they are outright for amnesty, but they are not actively enforcing our immigration laws. Pointing fingers back and forth between the Feds and the various state’s governors is not cutting it anymore.
The longer these homeland invasion illegals are “allowed” to stay here through govermental inaction, the more difficult it will be to rid ourselves of their scourge. In-state tution for the children of illegals is nothing more than a back door amnesty plan. Try and deport one of these people now.....lotta a luck with that....yep, amnesty by another name, all on your and my dime.
When Perry stands on the border and says “NO Mas” and backs it up with strict enforcement, I’ll reconsider. Till then he, or any like minded minded pol, will not have my support.
All true conservatives should begin donating directly to Cain’s campaign. He is the only consistent conservative in the race for the Republican nomination who has a chance. We can’t have another RINO shoved down our throats as has been done since Ronald Reagan. I made my first donation to Cain last week. If Romney is selected as the nominee, I will sit out the vote for president and vote for the most conservative Tea Party endorsed Republican candidates for House, Senate, and state/local races.
The Republican establishment has been pushing Romney for at least the past 2 years. I can’t believe that people are so surprised, I just can’t figure how they do it.
I am also sick of holding my nose. Whether or not I vote for Romney depends on such factors as his VP choice.
Republicans increasingly see Mitt Romney as the ‘inevitable candidate’
I haven’t noticed an uptick in suicide rates.
KMA, Hewitt...
Nobody that can't raise a ton of money is going to be on the ballot.
there are still conservatives running. We need to ensure they stay alive through the early primary states. There can’t be a clear decisive winner coming out of the early primaries and into the super Tuesday primaries because the only clearly decisive winner that will come out of thearly states is going to be a RINO IMHO. We should consider forgiving Newt’s transgressions too- also IMHO. what’s more, Bachmann remains the most conservative candidate left. we should all be backing her heavily. she’s smart, experienced, and capable of dismembering Obama in an honest issue oriented debate. I wouldn’t trust her to know Elvis Presley’s birthday but I would trust her to be an excellent conservative president.
some interesting thoughts about Romney’s inevitability..

No, Rick Perry really IS outright for amnesty, at least as any normal person would use the word, meaning legalizing the million of illegals here in the USA by calling them "guest workers":
When Rick Perry says he is not for "amnesty" he simply means he is not in favor of giving them citizenship. He is happy to legalize them, however, and let them stay here as sort of permanent second class citizens.
