Jackson, Jr: Obama should declare a national emergency add jobs with ‘extra-constitutional’ action
Daily Caller ^ | Thursday October 13, 2011 | Nicholas Ballasy

Illinois Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. told The Daily Caller on Wednesday that congressional opposition to the American Jobs Act is akin to the Confederate “states in rebellion.”

Jackson called for full government employment of the 15 million unemployed and said that Obama should “declare a national emergency” and take “extra-constitutional” action “administratively” — without the approval of Congress — to tackle unemployment.

“I hope the president continues to exercise extraordinary constitutional means, based on the history of Congresses that have been in rebellion in the past,” Jackson said. “He’s looking administratively for ways to advance the causes of the American people, because this Congress is completely dysfunctional.”

“President Obama tends to idealize — and rightfully so — Abraham Lincoln, who looked at states in rebellion and he made a judgment that the government of the United States, while the states are in rebellion, still had an obligation to function,” Jackson told TheDC at his Capitol Hill office on Wednesday.

Could Jesse Jr be guilty of sedition?

Sedition is any act, writing, speech, etc., directed unlawfully against state authority, the government, or constitution, or calculated to bring it into contempt or to incite others to hostility, ill will or disaffection; it does not amount to treason and therefore is not a capital offense.

Although, in this case it should be.

We don’t need an extra Constitution-we’re not using the original either.

I have been called un-patriotic.

I have been called a Racist

I have been called a lotof things simply because I am a Republican.

Now this spawn of a Jackass calls me a Confederate Rebel.

He thinks we should go out tomorrow and hire 15 Million people ./ What does he plan on these people doing?
Half the people in Government now are sitting on their posteriors with nothing to do.

Does he realise that when we create jobs we create a need for articles to perform these jobs. Who pays for that?

In fact Jesse many of these people are already hired by the Government. We call it unemployment, but what it really is, is a Government job where we don’t have to show up for any work.

Now if you propose that everyone on Unemployment show up at the Highway Department and are given a shovel or a Bush axe and they go out and use it, I could agree with that.

At least the weeds would get cut.

Thanks for this thread.

” - - - history of Congresses that have been in rebellion in the past,”

Thanks, Jackson Junior! I’m glad you cleared up what I mistakenly thought “Congressional Debate” was. I had NO idea that it really was “rebellion!”

Wow! US taxpayers could save a lot of money by just reducing Congress down to a High-stepping 12! Oops! Sorry! My bad! That has already been done.

Things move along so fast with a hint of rebellion in the air. Ah, the “Obama Fall,” I mean Autumn.

the straw man here. This is NOT a JOBS BILL!

Even without passing it, it has created/saved a job.

Jessie Jackson practically raised Michelle Obama.

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

- Barack Obama

No. Living within range of the Chicago radio market, I can assure you that this is not an unusual outburst by Jesse Jr.

Where’s my Budweiser franchise?

Exactly. I have an idea - how better to illustrate his stupidity than have a reporter suggest his family's Budweiser franchises hire 100,000 of these unemployed, without knowing their skill sets or, despite the business need for the additional headcount.

As a member of the 112th Congress, Jesse L. Jackson, Jr to the following oath of office:
“I, Jesse L. Jackson, Jr, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” (See: http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/oathoffice.aspx)
Talk about extra-constitutional actions strikes me as seditious.
