Rep. Jesse Jackson Calls on Government to Hire All Unemployed Americans for $40,000 Each

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has offered his own $804 billion jobs plan that calls on the federal government to hire the nation’s 15 million unemployed Americans for jobs paying roughly $40,000 each, and bail out all the states and cities facing budget crises.

In an interview with the Daily Caller on Wednesday, the Illinois Democrat applauded President Obama for directing his staff to greenlight job-creating initiatives without congressional approval after his $447 billion jobs bill was defeated in the Senate this week.

“Now we’re making some progress,” Jackson said, comparing the legislative gridlock in Congress to the states that seceded from the union during the Civil War.

"We've seen Congress is in rebellion," he said, "determined to wreck or ruin at all costs."

Jackson said the government’s direct hiring of the nation’s 15 million unemployed Americans would cost $600 billion.

“It could be a five-year program,” he said. “For another $104 billion, we bail out all of the states. For another $100 billion, we bail out all of the cities.”

“We put people to work cleaning up communities. We put people to work through a civilian conservation corps, through a Works Progress Administration because the hour demands it,” he said

The funny part is there are a lot of idiots that will vote for him again believing they are going to get $40,000 if they do.

JR is in his last ditch attempt to buy votes from the very same Chicago folks Obama had believing they would have their mortgages paid and their car payments made—and he is much “cuter” than Obama. Worked once before. And if their 40K job does not come through, then blame it on those evil Republicans, the Tea Party, Rush, Fox...Hank Williams Jr..Wall Street Bankers..the Rich..oh forgot Bush!

“40k would mean minumum wage would have to go up to pacify the already “working” Americans!”

Great point.

EX-ACTLY! No way the unions would stand for 40,000 per year jobs.Remember Davis-Bacon? The union thugs would crack the skulls of anyone who undermined their fat wages.

Funny you should bring that up was just reading...

September 12, 2011

The Cato Institute’s Chris Edwards highlights a controversial new decision by the Labor Department to apply pro-union Davis-Bacon rules to the CityCenter development project going up in Washington, D.C. “While Democrats in Congress are demanding government action to fix the nation’s supposedly crumbling infrastructure,” Edwards writes, “here the Obama administration has thrown up a new hurdle to investment.”

Hey, do the math.

Every welfare mama with two bastiges costs the taxpayers over $100K per year.

I’m all for this idea. Kick their butts off Section 8, stop the food stamps, stop the Medicaid, stop the energy assistance, stop the SSI for having stupid kids who won’t read because they were not read to as tots!

The welfare class COULD NOT MAKE IT ON $40K/YEAR per “family”!

As it stands now in “Allbenny”, the projects are chock full of leased two to four year old BMWs, newly leased Altimas, and seven year old Escalades on RENTED 24” rims.

I mean, what ARE you going to spend your welfare check for when your rent is paid, utilities are paid, food is taxpayer funded (plus your kids get ten meals a week free at school) and your health care expenses are fully paid?

Hey, go get a nice ride, manicures, plasma screens, hairdos, phones, bling, pot, crack, liquor, China-made clothes......

We could pay for it out of existing assistance money and have three fifths of it left over!

It would be like “The Day After” scenario—

Drives to the take out window of McDonalds
Cheeseburger and fries, please?..silence...Hello?

At Wal Mart..Where's the friendly greeter, shelves are understocked..
At the Supermarket...food rotting, shelves empty and unstocked..self checkout.

Where is Everybody??? [Pin drops somewhere]

Little too late for that, Jesse.
Might have been possible before the 787 billion dollar
stimulus, though, but the unemployed were not on Obama’s
mind. Then or now.

The blacks in Harlem always would cheer Fidel Castro when he’d come to NYC to address the UN. Is this a black thing?

Maybe the idea of living in a Gulag excites some of them.......

When Jackson proposes to create money on a whim and distribute it, we know it’s because he is an hereditary aristocrat with divine, unquestionable right to do so. He is some kind of sun god on earth. (Or maybe a smurf or leprechaun, I get confused.) So, where is the country that gave him that right? Was it Egypt? Sudan? England?

How many would immediately quit their jobs to sign up for this program — there are MILLIONS making less than that yearly here in the US. Absolute insanity — just another step to creating their Marxist Utopia no doubt.

Yep, I’m thinking the same as you... (See my first post on this thread right above this one...)

Who in the world would work for anything LESS than 40,000 if they knew they could get a gov’t job with no education, no training, etc...? You’d have to be a complete idiot not to try to get yourself fired so you could automatically be given one of these jobs at probably 3xs your current wages (thinking back to how much I made per year as a retail domestics department manager just five years ago)

I agree....this could work. I mean end all welfare programs as we know it and pay all unemployed Americans $40,000 to actually do something. I believe the US taxpayer could come out ahead on this. Don’t want to work——no $40,000, no welfare. No more sitting around on your backside waiting for the freebies. I’m afraid though that once the Free Sh-t Army figures it out they won’t go for it.

Here is the thing that scares me: They really, REALLY believe this would work. All of them, liberals. They cannot understand why just giving people money doesn’t work.

Unbelievable. You know, we could get some people elected to undo the liberal legislation that has been enacted since 2009, but...the fact that the electorate is out there that not only believes that the government could hire all the unemployed people, but would readily elect dimwits who believe that...that is what makes my spirit for the future of our country fail me.

Give the Affirmative Action Anus, legitimate son of the other illegitimate Affirmative Action Anus, full credit when credit is due, Whitey!

Rep. Jackson's Plan is simply too late. It probably would have worked a lot better than the Stimulus sold our Congress by the Affirmative Action Anus from Africa ... and would have been a lot cheaper.

Apparently he is just repeating what the paid demonstrators of “Occupy Wall Street” demand. One was quoted as saying they want a twenty dollar an hour minimum wage which he called a living wage and then secondly they wanted a living wage “regardless of employment”.

"they wanted a living wage “regardless of employment"

..but that is the nature of the entitlement mentality of "the self anointed artists, free thinkers, delusional actor fantasy types, etc., that make up a real smaller # of young adults who make up the majority of The Whole- these youth who get LEFT OUT OF BIG MEDIA COVERAGE, who are attending college or working more than one job; and I have seen them passing by the #OWL wannabe protesters. The majority do want to earn a good wage, do want to raise family enjoy life within an extended family structure. They are the majority, just "in the shadows" an ever popular term.

We only see what the media and this administration wants us to see to build up emotions, get ratings especially as MSNBC who thrive off hate/class warfare-the hypocrites that they are when lights go off.

Youth unemployment: can’t work or won’t work? Although youth unemployment is at its highest eve [UK], there are jobs to be found. Why are so many filled by immigrants? this story asks as the Telegraph's Alasdair Palmer investigates...
