Herman Cain: Electrify the Border Fence

Doug Powers

October 15, 2011

It’s now a “9999plan: 9 percent personal income tax, 9 percent national sales tax, 9 percent business tax, and a 9 amp jolt if you try to illegally cross into the US.

New York Times:

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally.

The remarks, which came at two campaign rallies in Tennessee as part of a barnstorming bus tour across the state, drew loud cheers from crowds of several hundred people at each rally. At the second stop, in Harriman, Tenn., Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.
[...]
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical. Mr. Cain often says he told the caller that he had recently returned from China, and if the Chinese could build the Great Wall then America could build a border fence.

Before we assume that Herman Cain’s suggestion will cause Democrats or even select Republicans to throw even more scorn in his direction, I’d suggest this: Cain could win over many of them simply by saying that in his border plan, the fence would be electrified with power provided by solar panels the government purchased from stimulus-backed green energy companies.

Perry is the only one that stands between Romney and the nomination.

After NH, it's downhill for Mitt. He couldn't be Mccain in 08, how will he beat a real Conservative? When the southern states vote, it's over for Myth Romney.

There’s going to need to be a way to intercept interlopers, on foot or otherwise. Cain tossed out the idea of the killer fence, which would shorten the spans that need to be patrolled. If a drone spots something, is it always going to be possible to meet that something on foot or robotically? I do not call it impossible, but it’s something the best minds of the Pentagon will be needed to engineer.

No need to electrify the fence. Cain’s 9% national sales tax should be enough to keep out the smart illegal aliens.

Those nervous nellies who think this will alienate "the middle/moderates" are in for a very, very big surprise.

Cain will pick up AT LEAST 5 more points over this and all the momentum going into November 2011.

If he keeps this up nobody else will have a chance.

Get back to us when Perry quits being a Open-Borders fraud.

Let us know when he actually supports Securing the border by doing the following:

1. Implementing E-Verify nationally as a requirement to lesson the chance Illegals can work in America.
2. Building a physical Border Wall to make is much more difficult to cross the border illegally.
3. Supporting laws like AZ1070 and Alabama's law to make it much more harder to live/work in Americal Illegally.
4. Comes out against Comprehensive Immigration reform instead of supporting it.

Quits pandering to his big-money corporate campaign donors who require a cheap, steady, tax-payer funded labor force (A.K.A. Illegal Aliens) to make their business models successful.

Until then, Perry ain't electable.

Well then.
If taken into context
I swore I wasn’t going to react to Cain headlines without researching first

"Does anybody around here have actual experience with an electric fence?"

Yes.

"Has anyone ever raised cattle behind an electric fence?"

Yes--cattle and other livestock.

"As a boy, I did. I even peed on an electric fence on a dare. Only once."

Heh. I didn't.

"Electric fences do not kill anything unless you are dumb enough not to let go and continue crossing."

An electric fence running 9 amps of current can.

"I've never heard of cattle, one of the dumbest creatures on God's green earth, even being killed by an electric fence."

The topic is about people, although cattle fence chargers provide pulses with far less than 9 amps. They're high voltage, low amperage.

"The reason is simple: the shock is not strong enough to electrocute you, but strong enough to make you remember never to touch the electric fence again."

9 amps would kill.

"Herman Cain isn't talking about killing border crashers. He is talking about border security."

9-amp security fences would kill people. Buy hey, Cain knows Nato. I'm not impressed with any of the politicians allowed by the elite folks to run for the presidency. Serving select constituents who are traitors against our country, the politicians are traitors themselves. And some of the candidates for such puppetry are downright morons.

In 4 years the illegal Texas grads will be in Austin (if they arn’t already) as Occupiers demanding their loans be paid by Big Oil corporations and they and Mom, Dad and the rest of the familia be given US citizenship - orange even the entire State of Texas be given back to Mexico oil and all.

” And, by the way, that is not free tuition, it is simply the tuition that all Texans pay. “

The way this issue is framed by the media and those supporting other candidates gives the impression
that the relatively
few who meet all the requirements are given a free ride.
That they don’t have to pay any tuition at all.
When they pay in state rates .
Out of state US citizens can qualify for in state Texas rates
if they live or work in Texas for a year ,
which is fairly standard for most state colleges and universities .
The vast majority of the less than 1% who
qualify go to community colleges
or technical schools.
Non-residents pay an average of $4,800,
compared to $2,200 for residents who live
in the college’s district
and $3,200 for residents outside the district.
Santorum was throwing around differences of $100,000 IIRC when it is mostly
between $1600 and $ 2600/ year.
I don’t know why Perry didn’t cite the actual figures..
Or why he didn’t reassure Michelle Bachmann that his Gardasil
vaccination plan was not implemented ,
it was never a reality.
Another point is that it’s often said that Perry “ passed “
the Texas Dream Act in 2001.
The Texas legislature passed the veto proof bill.
Whether Perry signed the bill or vetoed it,
it was going to be law.
He was going to be damned if he did and damned if he didn’t.

I have an electric fence that I use to try to keep ILLEGAL aliens off my property. It works to the extent that they do not cross where the fence is but go around it to my gate and cross. To date no one has been killed; I have yet to find any bodies, anyway.
