...9-9-9 is DOA because the Entitlement Community will demand it, and the current trend is to sacrifice everything to make the the growing community of deadbeats more comfortable.,,,

I have hope that 2012 will bring in more Conservatives and the entitlement mentality gets axed..I also feel that Cain coming from a business background has a better chance of selling a product like 999 than ordinary politicians...On FR many are always complaining about the GOP starting their negotiations low and caving in...hopefully Cain has started the conversation and negotiations from a higher level and has some room to negotiate. Based on the criticism of 999 so far the good points are being talked about as well as the bad. Retirees are upset, some businesses are upset, low income people are worried...but most people like the simplicity of the plan just not how it affects them immediately. Imagine if some negotiations and adjustments could mellow those criticisms and those who at first glance (offer) were given relief in the final product, it seems to me there would be a good chance to get a modified 999 or just the fair tax instituted...The plan is getting publicity and some good, some bad but it is being discussed!Trial balloons usually get shot down first time around, but with each additional launch and adjustment they have a better chance of surviving.

Anyone who advocates a Fair Tax either doesn't understand it, or desperately wants America to cease being a First World nation.

But as to your hope that human nature will magically transmogrify from Entitlement to Altruism must be blind to thousands of years of verifiable history.

Poll after poll, regardless of what is actually being questioned, shows that the country is nearly evenly split. Our elections keep showing that at least half of those in the US have no love for Liberty and Freedom and wish to live in a perpetual state of childishness where ALL money is dedicated to discretionary spending because ALL of life's needs and many of our felt needs are deemed "rights" underwritten by Obama-stash, the "Wealthy" or some other nameless entity that we don't mind plundering.

I don't know how to break that mindset without some huge calamity forcing a restart. The movie Mad Max series looks like a children's edition of what life would look like with such a "reset" condition necessary to spark such a transformation, and honestly, I don't think there are enough people around with the character to make it happen.

Sadly, I am one of those who is convinced that the world is reverting to its natural state without a moral beacon and we are entering into yet another thousand years of darkness.
