World Series protest: Progressives protest how MLB works with Glenn Beck
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Oct 19, 2011 | Joe Garofoli

Not to put a wrinkle in your freshly-hung World Series bunting, but Wednesday’s start of the Fall Classic will have a political subplot. And no, it doesn’t involve a protest of announcer Joe Buck for sucking, to use a phrase endorsed by 13,325 Facebook users.

The progressive group Americans United for Change is ticked that MLB Advanced Media, the interactive arm of Major League Baseball, is working with ex-FOX Newser Glenn Beck. MLB Advanced is using their technology to stream Beck’s new online subscription program, GBTV.com.

Yes, in case you’ve been wondering where Beck’s been, if you want to hear him now, you have to pay for the pleasure.

Still, Americans United wants MLB to sever ties with Beck, who they say has long “been a major league leader in hate.”

But if you ask them to give specific examples of Beck "hating," they stumble and phumpher before angrily exclaiming "just listen to him!!...it's obvious!!"

LOL! Hey, I’m watching the World Series right now! Take that you flippin’ SF fairies!

They’re just upset they didn’t make it there again this year.

Cheers

I’m upset that George Soros is alive and has spawned more evil.

One doesn’t have to pay to hear Glenn on the radio, nor do they have to pay to log on to The Blaze web site.

GBTV is $5.00 per month.

gbtv is GRRRRREAT! I’m glad Glenn and FOX parted ways. He’s better than ever! Thanks to everyone at gbtv and the blaze.

Thanks to ESPN. I had the MLB Gamecast streaming while I was FReeping tonight.

Congrats to Texas and St.Louis (Tiger fan here). I was amazed at Texas’ discipline at the plate (1 through 9) and their relief pitching. I’ve alway been a big fan of LaRussa...one of the greatest managers in the history of baseball. Judging from game 1, this should be a very good series.

/FR (to bed to watch a gbtv archive)

Thanks Major League Baseball!

Their staff includes Tom McMahon, whose wiki entry reads

Tom McMahon has over 18 years of experience in Democratic Party (United States) politics providing strategic advice, managing campaigns, overseeing successful fundraising operations, and training Democratic candidates at the federal, state, and local level. From 2005 to 2009, McMahon served as Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee (DNC)

Does that mean the Deputy Communications Director Lauren Weiner is this Lauren Weiner?

Federal prosecutors have decided to bring charges against a Democratic researcher accused of fraudulently obtaining a credit report on Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele, now a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Lauren B. Weiner, who has since resigned from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Washington, will be charged with obtaining the report without authorization, according to a letter sent to Steele by the U.S. attorney's office in the District.

Washington Post

I guess if you take the rap there is always a silver lining in one of these outfits.
