There were no more immediate details about his death.

I wonder what this will mean for the stability of Saudi Arabia? How will this impact the region?
With the King approaching 90, this could set up a power struggle between Prince Bandar, and Prince Khalid.
While both are America-philes, both have been out of favor in recent years, for one reason or another. Murky waters ahead, it seems.
Um, there is no shortage of princes in the House of Saud. I’m sure someone will step forward and occupy the ‘vacancy.’
If it’s NAYEF, we are in trouble...
He’s the most active, and open supporter of the Palestineans in the family, and he is the most Conservative (meaning radical muslim) of the bunch, it seems.
This is the same guy who blamed 9/11 on “the Zionists”, saying it was impossible for 19 youths to pull it off, or that Bin Laden did it alone.
And he’s “only” 78 yrs old.
Arab Spring in Saudi Arabia?
Will the ruling family have a civil war?
One of the younger Princes in the Military, I think it’s the US-trained Khalid, is overseeing the construction of a border fence running the entire length of the Iraq border, to keep out potential immigrants and refugees when the US leaves Iraq.
And he’s advocated for isolating Iran.

Some history on the King and extended family.
That was going to happen........
Then the Japan Earthquake happened..............
Nayef is the only one of the 4 who has expressed any interest in governing.

Nayef was designated the next Crown Prince in 2009?
Will Khalid try to wrest control from Nayef ??
Bandar (known as big Bandar) was a fighter pilot and program manager for the Peace Hawk program. Though he was a prince he was a major in the RSAF.
They’re dropping like flies!

Is this the one The Boy Bowed to?
But who will Barry bow to now?!?!?
Not a good time for this to happen. Not a good time at all.
No, Obama dropped for the King himself...
Embarrassing moment for Americans, that was...
Was it the cup bearer ? or the butler ?
“Not a good time for this to happen. Not a good time at all.”
That’s what I was thinking...
Succession will very much a family decision. King will have great input, but there will be much family consultation.
Which is the one who hires American women to live in his harem?
Oh God. If Saudi Arabia gets the Obama treatment, we’re done.
The House of Saud makes the Vatican's College of Cardinals look adolescent
Why couldn’t I have been born a Saudi Prince?
Is this the same Bandar that was an ambassador, or something like that, to the USA?
Soiled Laundry only got half a billion! If they'd have known they would walk with it they would have shot for a whole lot more!
Lookout this can always be really bad in the middle east. Talk about living in interesting times...
Nayef sounds like bad news, trying to deflect blame away from the Saudi members of the 9/11 terrorists, among other things. Still, he would cozy up to Washington thanks to the Saudi’s spat with Iran.
They said the line is very unstable. I guess the other prince isn’t doing well health-wise either and underwent back surgery recently?
Interesting times...
Snappy dresser. ;) Do you know how old is he?
Never mind - found info that he was in his 80’s.
“I wonder what this will mean for the stability of Saudi Arabia? How will this impact the region?”
There’s no immediate impact. Though King Abdullah has been dealing with his own health issues, so who knows how long he’ll be around.
According to an article I read:
“The most likely candidate to replace Sultan as Abdullah’s successor is Prince Nayef, the powerful interior minister in charge of internal security forces. After Sultan fell ill, the king gave Nayef — also his half-brother — an implicit nod in 2009 by naming him second deputy prime minister, traditionally the post of the second in line to the throne.”
I don’t know anything about him except what’s available on Google
That's the trouble. King Abdullah had 37 brothers (don't know how many still alive). His brothers are in senior position to inherit the throne over his sons.
A complex and contested line of succession means the Islamists will try to take a hand in the power struggle.
When the king dies, expect conflict.
With everything going on right now in the middle east, this is the last thing the world needs - another instability thrown in the stew.
Saudi Prince Nayef wins libel damages against British paper
The damages awarded were reportedly donated to charity. I wonder which one.

Cole represented Naif.
Small world, ain't it....
Chavez?
Hopefully Hillary Clinton won’t be caught on tape laughing about this death too.
Prince Nayef was Interior Minister in the early 80s. He issued a proclamation forbidding the Belgians from hosting evening Masses in the courtyard of their embassy.
The 83-year-old, who was heir to the Saudi throne, had suffered various health issues in recent years and had been treated for cancer at a New York hospital in 2009.
According to the BBC he is believed to have been in New York City when he passed away yesterday.
A separate report said his plane was preparing to leave JFK airport to take the body home.
I don’t think so. With his approval ratings so low he will probably be bowing publically to Soros with 2012 on the way.
