Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown is calling on President Obama to fire the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, saying she’s worsened the fishing industry’s problems.

Brown said Saturday in a press conference at the Gloucester waterfront that Obama should replace Jane Lubchenco.

In a statement, Brown said Lubchenco was indifferent to the industry’s struggles and wrongly committed to a new management system he says is destroying fishing jobs.

Wake up, Scott. She is doing her job according to the specs she was hired with - destroy another chink of the private sector and capitalism. Her immediate supervisors are proud.

” Brown said Lubchenco was indifferent to the industry’s struggles and wrongly committed to a new management system he says is destroying fishing jobs.”

Long overdue !

Ask the Northeast cod fishing fleet ~ ruined and sold to foreign investors and “non-profits” organizations for possible re-sale.
Ask the Atlantic South east fishing fleet where fishing for snapper was terminated by Lubichenko without even a study.
Ask the Florida Gulf fishermen about closed/ limited seasons on Grouper and other fisheries.
Ask California fishermen about massive areas completely closed and restricted to fishing , despite the fact that most fiery are migratory.
Ask Alaskan crab fishermen why they no longer harvest crab for themselves because they have been restricted to death, and now their catch is “OWNED” ( 72 %) by foreign investors.

Congress defunded Lubichenko’s program of “ Catch Shares” , but she and her cronies continue to implement the program .
NOAA Fisheries has been unresponsive to both commercial and recreational fishermen and has lead to the demise of fisheries in general , under her leadership .

Fisheries , under Lucichenko is now treated as a commodity , with ‘fishing rights’ being sold to the higest bidder.

This is good. We need Senators and Representatives representing their constituents against the abuses of government. Just like the Gulf members standing up for offshore drilling it is nice to see someone in the northeast talking about something other than banking and alternative lifestyles.

I'm pretty sure that this is intentional. Another aspect of "saving the planet".

About time somebody went after these communists! They can’t even get the weather right and are applying that incompetence to killing the fishing industry.

From the article:

“A NOAA spokesman said Lubchenco has always sought success for fishermen and wants to partner with them to build a profitable industry. He pointed to NOAA’s commitment this week of millions to fund required on-board catch observers, a cost fishermen had worried they’d have to absorb.”

So — Obama is putting a govt ‘observer’ on each fishing boat?

You’ve got to be kidding??

No snow, but we have been getting some interesting weather down here near Lake Mead. Yesterday it hit the high 80s. Today, it's "freezing" with the high at about 61.

Guess I shouldn't complain, but I'm not used to the cold yet. Lol.

Hope all is well up north where you are!

A winter storm is rolling thru, leaving snow most everywhere. Even de-icing planes leaving Denver.

MLB delayed the World Series in St. Louis tonight.
