Dallas Police continue to investigate whether a teenage runaway was sexually assaulted by an adult male at the Occupy Dallas encampment behind City Hall.
A source within the Dallas Police Department who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation said the girl ran away from home in Garland last month and that she is now refusing to cooperate with investigators. She initially told officers that she had sex with a man in his early twenties and had engaged in sexual activity with several other people.
Some members of the group told CBS 11 the girl identified herself as a 19-year-old and never knew she was 14.

And they're arresting the guy? The stupid future porn star is responsible for her actions regardless of what the law says. The idea that under a certain age you bear NO responsibility for your actions, and then BANG at a specific birthday you bear it all is not logical - legal maybe but not logical. At least by refusing to rat out the guys she had sex with she is picking up a little of the responsibility for her actions.
This reminds me of a case here in GA several years ago where the parents of a 12 yo found a 20 something yo guy in her bedroom. He of course was arrested (and should have been for massive stupidity if for no other reason), but it turned out that the girl set up the whole thing on the internet. SHE was the internet predator, and the guy was caught with his pants down. The prosecutor quoted to the media that it was a shame that there wasn't anything he could do to her, since she was the mastermind behind the whole thing. She apparently wanted to get laid and decided that was how to go about it.
That's the group's story, and 99% of them are sticking to it.

The stretch from 14 to 19 is real obvious no matter how old you are. It’s just those little things you learn while in High School. But then again, who says they are learning anything of value these days.
There's an old saying though, getting back to the legal issues, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law”.
I'm sure that plenty of unsavory things and better living through chemistry go on at these "rallys" It's not like they have jobs or anything. Or personal hygene concerns.

How sad... That’s one aspect I didn’t even think of though. How many at-risk teens will be “lured” by the promise of fun, food, and partying? How many runaways are at all of these protests? I could definitely imagine being a teen again, growing up in the home I did, being told this will “make everything better” and deciding - “hey... It might be great camping with these hipsters! Free food, free medical, a place to crash, and best of all? NO PARENTS! We can party ALL NIGHT LONG!”
I hope the police are able to convince her to cooperate. I can imagine that perhaps she really does have a bad home life, and doesn’t want to reveal who she is for fear of being sent back.
