Or the attempted breakouts from Atlanta, Gary, Dearborne, Baltimore, Oakland, Houston, Washington DC.....
At our local flea markets you can buy disposable lighters at 5 or 6 for $1.00.
They are Plain Jane, no child proof interlocks, etc.
They don’t look as well made as BICs and might not have the same gas capacity but they are only a fraction of the cost and do the job.
I have been buying them for a while and storing them in old candy tins and other all metal containers.
The oldest I have are over 7 years old and they have not lost their gas and still work fine.
I have used them to light the BBQ and other fires and they work fine until the gas is used up.
Then, the flint is still good and the wheel still strikes sparks.
If I could only have one lighter I would pick the best I could find and not consider the cost.
But a handful of these cheap imports is a good alternative for personal use and for possible barter.
I’m going to disagree with you, Iron Munro.
During the Sarajavo war back in the1990s, working lighters were treasured. Lighters were among the top five items that people needed.
You don’t want to sell or barter crappy ChiComm lighters to your fellow patriots. I stopped buying these crappy lighters two years ago because they don’t strike well to provide an adequate flame to light your campstove or start a campfire.
in packages, WalMart is selling Scripto lighters at 7 fot 2 bucks. They work well and will be gold when TSHF.
Semper fi, buddy.
