Scott Olsen is the Marine Corps veteran critically injured at Occupy Oakland Tuesday night, during a confrontation between the protesters and the police. The latest news is good: his condition has been upgraded from critical to fair and he is apparently conscious and able to respond to doctors and family members. I sincerely wish him a full recovery, and I also hope that a proper investigation is conducted to determine whether police misconduct is responsible for his injuries.
But I ran across something this evening that may add a new dimension to this story. It has been widely reported that Olsen is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. But apparently his opposition to the U.S. military and the Marine Corps in which he served runs a little deeper.
The site is no longer live, but Olsen was the founder of IHateTheMarineCorps.com, a private user forum apparently dedicated to bashing the Marine Corps. (click to enlarge)

I don’t believe it for even a second. There is not a Marine I have met in my life who would back that scum sucking piece of liberal crap.
It is possible they don’t have the whole story, that they don’t know he is in bed with the Veterans Against War movement, but I cannot believe any Marine I have ever met would have even the barest of civil words towards that guy, if they read his words and saw what a complete $hitbird he was.
The anti-American bum probably was hit by something thrown by his commie buddies. He probably hates the Marines because they discover3ed quickly he was a putz and threw him out less-than-honorable.

reddit seems like DU with a slightly different twist. I stopped going to Drudge years ago, anyway. Checking out that story you mentioned is the first time I have been back there in 10 years or so.
Anyone who has spent any time in uniform can tell at a glance the guy was a $hitbird No-Load. All you have to do is read that crap off of his web site.
If you have served, there is no doubt that there were times as a young man you hated it with all your heart. And I am guessing that goes doubly so in a war zone.
But you know what? You man up, pull your weight, do your job, pass your time and keep your head down. When your time is up, you get out, and that is that. Use it as a learning experience.

Whois reports that “Scott Olsen” (people by that name) registered 132 domain names. The domain in question lists a Milan, IL addy and a landline in Orange County, Calif. It does not appear that the Scott Olsen in Oakland is associated with either of those two locations, or even if he’s ever registered any of the other 131 domain names under “Scott Olsen.”

A military uniform is as good as a civilian’s resume. All those ribbons, badges and patches tell you almost everything about someone’s service record.
I’ve got a suspicion that Olsen has something very big he’s hiding.

Cant always tell by the Uniform. My ex Boss is a Marine and he told me stories of how guys would go to the PX and buy ribbons when they were going home on leave to boost their reps.One guy even was stupid enough to not only have a photo taken of him in fake ribbons and badges but left it is his room where they were found durning a inspection. He was harshly punished.
There will always be “PX commandos”.
No matter what this guy’s issues and faults were, I saw the video. The cops fired a flash-bang right into the group of people who were trying to help him up after he got hit by the CS canister. It looked very deliberate to me.
