My prediction is FNS will help Perry cause they just can't take a chance that a conservative who is not under their control,like Herman Cain, wins.

I think you hit it on the head. They said Romney had been invited and was the only one who had declined. I don't know how much was because they're pissed that he declined after they've campaigned so hard for him or how much is because they finally realized he's not gaining any new traction and they fear Cain as you said. Either way okay by me.

I expect that the “neighbor” is doing the same as I: Running a (very secure) wireless router, partly for the convenience of connection around the house for Grandma’s little laptop and also for visitors (like kids & grandkids) who don’t seem to be able to go without 24/7 Facebook or email feeds.

So MYOB already, or stand by for an invitation to come help me install a hardwired network both at Fish’s and our ancient establishment.

I fault Romey somewhat for believing the global warming crap early on, but it seems more important that he's seen through it now. Haven't lots of people had their eyes opened once the emails were exposed, and all that followed ? Of course.

We need a pro-immigrant, low immigration policy with the following elements:

 A merit based immigration system that brings in the skills and talents to keep us competitive in the global economy;

 Reduced immigration levels based on need and more closely approximating 300,000 immigrants a year vice the current 1.2 million annually;

 Elimination of extended chain migration, i.e., family reunification, limiting it to the nuclear family;

 Enforcement of existing immigration laws to reduce the current illegal alien population and limit future illegal immigration, i.e., attrition thru enforcement. Enforcement would include: (1) ending the job magnet; (2) increasing coordination at the federal level by eliminating barriers to information sharing among agencies; (3) leveraging state and local enforcement resources; (4) fully implementing the US-VISIT Program to track and deport visa overstays; and (5) secure the border and make mandatory such programs as E-Verify and 287 [g] authority to assist employers and law enforcement in identifying illegal aliens;

 Elimination of birthright citizenship and the visa lottery program;

 Ensure that anyone who enters this nation illegally is not rewarded by being permitted to stay and work here; i.e., no amnesty;

 Streamline the processing and adjudication of immigration cases; and

 Promote pro-immigrant measures that help newcomers assimilate and embrace the values and principles of our Founders and the Constitution.

Cutting off all benefits to illegals unless they have children who are citizens?

Illegals are not entitled to federal benefits except thru their American born children. Supreme Court decisions have mandated that illegals must be admitted to K-12 education (Plyler vs Doe) and that hospital emergency rooms must treat all who enter. Many states have provided benefits knowingly to illegals, in-state tuition being one of them. The costs are enormous and growing. When you reward something, you get more of it.

I think we should seriously study all benefit programs. There is surely much waste and fraud.

That is a given. When you include the entitlement programs along with means tested welfare programs, more than two-thirds of the federal budget is spent on the redistribution of wealth. And when you consider that 42 cents of every federal dollar spent is borrowed, a lot of it from the Chinese, is it any wonder that we are the world's largest debtor nation? The entitlement programs alone represent an unfunded liability of over $60 trillion.

If the East Indians can read questions from a tech support script and tell my wife how to reboot her PC, they should be able to read press releases from politicians into a TV camera. Jeffrey Imelt could out-source NBC news reading just like jobs at GE.

Seems the Gobmint already has...

I had to call the unemployment office...eventually (after several days trying) got through to an "East Indian gent" who was obviously reading from the teleprompter (video screen for those in Rio Vista).

Could be a local hire however.

Actually if born to Mexican parents, they are Mexicans, which makes them subject to the laws of Mexico.

That is your interpretation of the Constitution (and I agree with it) but that is not the current law as written and carried out in the real world. Birthright citizenship is the law of the land until changed. Millions in this country have received their citizenship this way.

H.R.140.IH proposes to amend Section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1401) to change the way we grant citizenship

If this bill is ever passed, there will no doubt be a a Constitutional challenge that will go to SCOTUS for resolution. If it is not upheld, then a Constitutional amendment will be necessary. Only the US and Canada have birthright citizenship in the developed world. Ireland was the last country in Europe to get rid of it and they did it by constitutional amendment.

Actually, as long as the iRS can collect student loan late payments by seizing income tax refunds, the government probably thinks it can get 85% collection of student loans.

Why wouldn't the Won just ignore this law similar to his back door amnesty and allowing illegal aliens to roam our streets, being turned lose after being arrested by law enforcement?

A lot of thinking people weren't buying it long before any of that happened. Those who did either flunked junior high science, or were getting paid off to lie.

The hundredths of a percent of CO2 concentration (compared to 78% of Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen) isn't enough to form a heat retaining layer at any altitude in the atmosphere.

Isn't that basic high school information?

Current law must be based on the English re-interpretation of the Mexican/Spanish interpretation of the Constitution.

LOL. I live in the real world. US Code says otherwise, which is why the USG issues passports to people born on our soil regardless of who the parents are (diplomats excluded.) We even have a birth tourism industry. Why do you think folks like Rep King are introducing a bill to change the law if it all it takes is a reading of the Constitution?

Newt on the sofa with Pelosi didn’t make me as mad as his undermining of Bush over Katrina.

He stampeded the Congress into passing all of that Katrina money (including the gift cards)by talking about a Gulf Coast Marshal Plan, and then when it turned out to be corrupt, wasteful, and a total boondoggle, he then got on Bush and Congress for getting the government involved.

The Pelosi thing mostly just hurt Newt. The Katrina thing caused headaches for a lot of people and contributed to the idea that Bush was incompetent over Katrina.

I accused no one. It was hinted with tacit approval that somebody was browsing the Internet using a neighbor's wireless connection without the neighbor's permaission. I merely pointed out that IF that person was using the neighbor's connection without permission, then that is theft. What I stated is the absolute truth. But I guess I should have expected the hysterical responses I am reading.

By the way, theft is still theft even if the thief is a long time Freeper.

There are many problems with both Perry and Newt’s tax plan.

The various flat tax plans are an attempt to hijack the reform movement without actually reforming the tax code in a substantive fashion.

Both plans are “what do I need to say to get votes” plan rather then “what do we need to do to fix the tax code” plan.

Neither broaden the tax base thus leaving the current system of payers and payees in play for future political exploitation.

They keep in place the corrupt practice of playing favorites in the tax code by still granting special exemptions. This is the greatest flaw in the Flat Tax plans. They leave in the politically popular exemptions to pander to certain voter blocks. It the best example of where the Flat Tax plans are not serious attempts to address the fundamental problems in the tax code but a political gimmick designed to rejuvenate flagging campaigns.

The Flat Tax maintains the current focus on taxing income instead of consumption thus punishing the producers at the expense of the users.

It leaves in place the current ability for trust funds and the massively wealthy to avoid paying any tax by structuring their payouts in forms other then income.

It does nothing to tap the underground off the books economy.

So while the Flat Tax is an improvement over the current system, it is merely tinkering with the existing tax code while leaving in place the same corrupt, flawed foundation.

Of the various tax plans, Cain’s 9-9-9 is the much better plan

I don’t want to join the dems jumping on any Republican candidate. The remarks at youtube look like that to me.

I like Cain, Bachmann and Perry. Newt, not so much, but I’m willing to forgive certain things if he mea culpa’s. Romney is my last choice.

My first choice announced she wasn’t running....
