Decent Russian expats have been wretching ever since Obama started campaigning. "We came here to get away from communism!"

Yeah. People who have the sense to avoid college.

Th ones I know have been complaining before Obama. They saw communism barging in over the three prior administrations.

At a dance recital I heard one of the mothers talking to another.

The first mother was born in America. The second was born in the Soviet Union.

The first mother mentioned something like, “You must like it better... how we live, here.” She said it in a condescending manner. It sounded like she was implying that the mother from the Soviet Union should be prostrated in gratitude for all things American.

The second mother looked at the American mother with an impatient glance and said, “Not so much. You’re doing the same things here that I fled from in Russia.”

Maybe you can get her to tell you about things like how she had to obtain paint for her apartment, or some other "luxury", by bribing someone at a construction site who just might wind up disappearing if caught.

I've had the privilege of hearing a number of accounts from my Russian emigree friends. It's no wonder they're tough and completely suspicious of any and all political rhetoric. They've heard it all before.

I also know a seminarian who spent some time in Russia, where he met a woman who was taken from her home as a teenager and sent to jail for some unbelievably long time - 20 or more years - because she would not deny Catholicism.

Communists, socialists, CAIR, Ron Paultards...no, I don't think there are any three-digit IQ folks there...

There is a lady that writes for Investors.com that is a Russian immigrant.

“Perspectives of a Russian Immigrant” by Svetlana Kunin.

Lots of material there.

Yep, even the words “socialism” or “communism” were a joke in the USSR. For example, I visited a friend who fixed some massive potholes on his street after he lost a wheel. We joked “look how smooth your street is now. It looks like you're finally living under FULL communism”.

I feel like doing something similar and getting in their wannabe communist useful-idiot faces. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to stop by because I have a job.

Any folks here have some good ideas for OWS signs for Soviet expats?
