Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

At the Tea Party debate in Tampa, I was on the front line of receiving the candidates as they passed by the mobs of people. As Romney approached I pulled my hand back from shaking his. Somewhat disrespectful, I guess, but all I saw was a white Bowbama!

Recall that I was also at that same debate and in the same front line? When he stopped to shake hands with me and speak to me, I did shake hands with him! Being so stunned that he stopped to talk to me, I stammered “Good luck.” to which he replied, “I think I’m going to need it,” and I said, “Yep, you betcha, we’re the Tea Party, ya know.” He laughed and was pretty nice about it.
Well, what else could he do? He showed up first to see us!

And! Romney routinely enlists or pays astroturfing spambots to infest the web and smear his opponents or potential opponents. It's so obvious and so annoying.

Well, judging by their posts, too many on this [your] forum have fulfilled that. They disguise it by saying, "let them bring their ideas","Let us debate them", "Not allowing them weakens the site" and other ways. Some are better than others at hiding their feelings. However, you can always smoke them out. Some take longer than others.But you always expose them for what they are.
As a long time FReeper, I agree that disruptive posters be banned. However, the issue I responded to was the banning of pro Romney posters.
As a long time conservative activist, Romney would be the last candidate I would vote for, but banning any pro Romney posters seems to me extreme. Where is the line drawn? Are we right wingers going to enforce a rigid orthodoxy like the commies we despise?
