Well Cain is 8 years older than I so he’s had plenty of opportunity to learn that lesson. If he hasn’t, then he’s not been paying attention or believes that he is above it.

I'm beginning to wonder whether this is a racial/cultural thing not only in the sense of Politico having an agenda. Some of my black friends/associates have a different way of, now do I say it, being (appropriately) friendly. Their idea of a compliment could be taken as forward to someone who didn't know them. I know some white/non-black dudes who do similarly (and can pull it off), but I've seen it most in black men. It would be interesting to know whether any of the accusers are black.

Cain, being an executive, should know when to turn this off, but it could be simply misreading some women. He wouldn't be the first man to have this trouble. (</CaptainObvious>)

If women find being told that they look or are pretty, God help all of us

I have had men tell me that they have been berated for holding a door for a woman.

Yeah, they had better never visit our congregation. Not only do the men tell the women they look nice, we even hug almost every one of them. There are several civilian females I work closely with and I often compliment their appearance.

M g m, I have been berated for holding a door open for a female. There are some doors in the hallway at another building that have glass panels. I saw her coming toward the door and opened it for her. She said "I can open doors for myself".

He has had more time to learn what?

This happened when all this self-esteem/homophobic/feminazi/hypersensitive crap was just beginning, and none of us had had time to learn that what was being 'courteous and polite' ten years earlier (such as a politely delivered compliment to a woman on her looks, formerly known as a "compliment" or "flattery") was now cause for a lawsuit.

Now, however, it is this sort of social morphing bullsh*t that is the reason I refuse to hire ANYone, because I don't live and work in Nambypambyland.

People used to work for a living, not just look for the winning combination of noises in the lawsuit lottery.

If someone takes offense at me being nice, their skin would probably dissolve when I am not.
