PJM Sources Report Details of Alleged Cain Incident
PJMedia ^ | November 3, 2011 | Richard Pollock

Posted on 11/03/2011 10:04:50 AM PDT by bbernard

Adding to the ongoing Herman Cain sexual harassment controversy, two sources have now confirmed to PJ Media that a female employee of the National Restaurant Association told associates she had been brought by Mr. Cain to his Crystal City, Virginia residence where she alleged “he had taken advantage of me.”

One source, a male, told PJ Media:

Herman took advantage of seniority and power with a young woman. It was an abuse of power.

Implying that coming forward with the accusations was an ordeal for the young woman, the source also said:

Who do you believe, a CEO or a mid-level staffer? It was unsettling for her to make charges.

The name of the woman — who was in her early twenties at the time of the alleged incident — has been confirmed by PJ Media. We have chosen not to reveal her identity for reasons of discretion.

Both sources, one male and one female, worked at the time — mid-1990s — for the governmental affairs department of the National Restaurant Association, as did the woman.

“He has denied sexual harassment, but sexual harassment does not cover a consensual encounter.”

You better consult a Corp attorney on that before you enter into the business world in upper management.

Sweet..... Well it looks like Mr. Pollock or his editors are trying to save face.

What gives?????

Did Mr. Pollock try to make his story more juicy? No credibility.

"I had the original PJM article still open when I saw your comment, and it clearly said "woke up in his bed"... and when I refreshed it, "in his bed" was gone. That certainly change things."

At the bottom of the new version:

(CORRECTIONS: A previous version of this story mentioned that a source witnessed Cain and the woman entering a taxi together. This was incorrect.

The previous version also mentioned that the woman awoke in Cain’s bed — the source only claimed that the woman awoke in Cain’s apartment.

The previous version incorrectly attributed comments from one source to the other source.)

So who was lying, the reporter who wrote the previous version or the source of the previous version?

The previous version incorrectly attributed comments from one source to the other source?

Which ones?

Doesn't matter...there IS a trail of 'pay outs' and in the eyes of many that's sufficient to say there is guilt somewhere....just the way it is.

I'll caveat by saying that Cain isn't done if BOTH women are proven with metaphysical certainty to be lying.

Of course, that will never happen. Both women would probably have to publicly admit they were lying.

I understand that, for those who are less well educated.

It just shouldn't be the case here on FR where we're supposed to know better.

There is no implied guilt in this kind of settlement.

No named source, nobody for Cain to go after in court for slander.

The whole point is to take Cain down by a scandal that if her were a democrat the press would be circling the wagon, sitting on the info to help the democrat, and painting the women as sluts (reference: Clinton, Edwards, Kennedys).

They don’t care if it’s true or not. Not important. Just keeping the thing alive and out there continues to tarnish and smear. Keep doubt alive. That’s the agenda here.

I think the real story is the media hypocrisy and their blatant difference in how they treat democrat and republican candidates. If you’re their ideological buddy, they shield you. If not, they run with it even after it’s proven false. If any info doesn’t help them take you down or exonerates you, they will not print it.

The naysayers need to get real. If this happened to one of their daughters they wouldn't call it sexual harassment. They'd call it rape.

BULLpucky. Women get drunk and sleep with men, then regret it, all the time. A man taking a willing drunk woman home is NOT rape. NOT, all day long.

Geez that makes me angry. If you get drunk, you have poor judgment, and that is your own damned fault. If you do something you regret, too damned bad.

Don’t be concerned, the PJ media report has already had to be edited because “conservative” sources didn’t actually see them leave together. After they decided they had left together in a taxi(which they never saw)it is a foregone conclusion that she stayed the night at his apartment. This is called INNUENDO from word go! Shut up until you bring me the proof! is what I would say to the media.

“It’s almost hilarious that the MSM is so prudish when it comes to GOP candidates. Sexual indiscretion is a badge of honor within the Dem party, but they go all Church Lady when a conservative might have done something off color”

That’s true. It’s one thing when they go after the hypocrite angle. You know, Republicans deserve what they get for being the Moral Majority party. Who cares about John Edwards, who belongs to the godless, goodtime, superfun, hippie part? Nevermind that they presented themselves as every bit as married as Mark Sanford.

But no, the MSM goes way beyond that and acts like the Moral Majority themselves, which confuses me. A story’s a story, and they will push whatever sells ads. But that was as true of Clinton as it was of Cain.

My understanding is that she filed a complaint and got a settlement years ago. With colleagues at the time and her parents involved, it’s not surprising that there is corroboration of the situation.

That’s what the media’s been reporting and, with a presidential candidate concerned, that is IMO newsworthy.

If a 22 or 23 yo staffer got drunk at a company event and the 55yo married CEO took her to his apartment and “had his way with her”, a number of GOP voters would care about that.

That he apparently lied through his teeth about it all this week isn’t much comfort. That he apparently turned around and accused others of “smearing” him without evidence is despicable.

If this proves out, I’m done with the man and I don’t want him representing the GOP.

Statement is presently being prepared by the woman and her attorney. IF Cain would have kept his mouth shut and not devised so many different stories on the incident, it’d be dead today. This is what has caused this woman to now step out of the shadow...Cain’s lies. What always happens is the coverup...that’s what will deep six you. Everyone is calling Cain and Company Amateur Hour.

Bachman, Santorum, and Perry haven’t any public skeletons of this type yet.

Romney is not a conservative, so he’s not mentioned.

Gingrich has at least two past affairs.

Of course..and Cain knew this was going to come. So the issue is having known this crisis would be faced he certainly has not handled it well. Who do you believe, a CEO or a mid-level staffer?

That depends on who the CEO was and who the staffer was.

There are honest and dishonest CEOs. There are honest and dishonest staffers.

It's telling that the people at the NRA that new both of them tended to believe Cain and not the staffer. Not that that guarantees anything, but there's a reason a person's reputation is so important when they give testimony in court.

Sorry. I completely disagree.

There is no implied guilt with the settlement. And there is no implied guilt at the unfolding recollection of incidents that occurred decades ago and were handled by others. It's SOP to 'settle' in these kinds of cases.

As for how he's 'handling' it.....you should have heard Rush dress that argument down today. Now Bill Clinton and John Edwards....THEY handled their situations well (Rush's sarcasm).

Cain is not a seasoned politician. Cain is not slick. And Cain is being fired upon by an unethical media.

I'm not troubled by his 'handling' of this awful situation.

And I'm certainly not finding him guilty with absolutely not one SHRED of evidence.

And, last I looked, a few minutes ago, the original is up and the corrections at the bottom. Rather than correcting the original, which can be done just as quickly. Sleazy.

The corrections take out both “taxi” and “bed” from the story. That’s pretty key to the story; not all of the story but key to the “highlight” version.

I agree that it can be, but that is not my point.

My point is that it’s possible for a person to say in his/her own mind that any encounter was consensual. Therefore, that person could actually believe there was no harassment if they thought any encounter was consensual.

And there’s always the possibility that any “settlement” between the two agreed to call it consensual.

Are we all losing sight of the fact that this story is completely different from the one her lawyer was telling just a day ago??

That's because this is a third woman. She didn't file a complaint and didn't ask for or get a settlement. People need to hold off until all the facts are out on all of these. The National Restaurant Association has been asked to give their consent for the 2 women to come out and defend themselves and has promised to have an answer by tomorrow.
