PJM Sources Report Details of Alleged Cain Incident
PJMedia ^ | November 3, 2011 | Richard Pollock

Posted on 11/03/2011 10:04:50 AM PDT by bbernard

Adding to the ongoing Herman Cain sexual harassment controversy, two sources have now confirmed to PJ Media that a female employee of the National Restaurant Association told associates she had been brought by Mr. Cain to his Crystal City, Virginia residence where she alleged “he had taken advantage of me.”

One source, a male, told PJ Media:

Herman took advantage of seniority and power with a young woman. It was an abuse of power.

Implying that coming forward with the accusations was an ordeal for the young woman, the source also said:

Who do you believe, a CEO or a mid-level staffer? It was unsettling for her to make charges.

The name of the woman — who was in her early twenties at the time of the alleged incident — has been confirmed by PJ Media. We have chosen not to reveal her identity for reasons of discretion.

Both sources, one male and one female, worked at the time — mid-1990s — for the governmental affairs department of the National Restaurant Association, as did the woman.

Well la-dee-da, why don't you run for President and attempt to save the country then? Apparently we need someone who has never done anything wrong.

I would make a TERRIBLE President, and I am far, far from perfect. Even if what is alleged about Cain is true, I can tell you I've probably done worse. But then, I am not running for President, am I?

Cain does not have to be perfect, but I am NOT going to let things go, just because BJ Clinton got away with something. Thats what I was responding to. Please, that's beneath us really.

I gotcha, I’ve always said the perfect man died long ago. But I expect better than BJ Clinton for a Republican.

it was stupid to take this young girl to his apartment.

Not certain that even happened...it's apparently heresay at this point...pending who has the story from one minute to the next.

The dust remains in the air on the whole thing....unfortunately Cain does keep stirring it up himself.

He is trying but this is not how to do the job...it hurts to see such a good man bungle it this way.

Or he's the God fearing man that so many have said he is and he's terribly embarrassed by all this. Most people would be stumbling over all the twists and turns. I see you can't wait to condemn. How about waiting to see the facts and then evaluate where his answers came from.

Bull! We're watching a Presidential candidate operate thru a crisis....and he has indeed been stumbling thur this...and now is feeding the story. He just plain needs to stop doing just that.

As for the outcome I really could care less...it was a settled matter years ago and simply being used as a political smear now. How he handles it though does matter...and I for one am not impressed in the slightest in how he is handling this as a Presidential candidate.

“Well....obviously that isn’t always the case”

No, but, like I said, I assume it is the case until told otherwise because that is the conventional meaning of marriage. Just as, for instance, if someone told me he lost a leg in ‘Nam, I don’t immediately assume he named a dog “Leg” and it ran away while he was on a business trip overseas. Because that’s not what that phrase usually means, and people who don’t make their alternative meaning clear are trying to hide something.

“There are plenty of wives who know the score but stick with their husbands, and vice versa. It has always been thus. A pledge is pretty meaningless if the other party consents.
Seem to forget? Study American history. American presidents who had affairs are all over the place.”

None of this really addresses my post. I’m not sure you got the jist of it.

Anyway, the people with open marriages populating our history who didn’t tell anyone kept it secret, certainly, not because it was up in the air to the general public as to whether their marriages were open or not. It wasn’t because they didn’t feel a need to talk about personal matters. No, it was in the interest of hiding from public admonishment for corrupting the usual meaning. Which leaves people with open open marriages, a portion small enough, I assume, to leave completely unaffected the larger issue.

Let me know when the “poor girls” are willing to come forward, with names and facts. Otherwise it’s BS. I’m sorry that you are raising your daughter to be such a wimp.

What a rude and asinine remark.

Good lord are you really that gullible?

Well, I just read that Cain was drunk on one of the other threads, maybe the young lady had to drive him home?

I was not implying anything by my question, just asked. I stopped reading as soon as I realized the article was based on anonymous sources.

Regarding the Iowa incident:

To: SeekAndFind
Yesterday an Iowa radio guy named Deace complained about Cain’s behavior to some woman at his station.
Here are the details, as reported in the Des Moines Register:
During his Oct. 3 broadcast in Iowa, Deace mentioned that Cain made a comment to a woman who was there to report on the radio interview for another news agency.
“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.
Deace told the Register last month that he believes Cain was talking about adding honey and lemon, but that it was an awkward moment.

Pretty damning stuff...not

I am very sorry for all your daughter has endured. We begin when they are infants, kissing the boo-boos to make it better. As toddlers kisses are not quite enough—they want kisses and band-aids.

There is nothing more heartbreaking for a parent than not being able to make it all better, not being able to “make it go away.” I've been there as a parent.

I also remember Duke LAX. How much misinformation (ie LIES) was put out by the media. Local media, national media, city officials, Duke faculty and many freepers assumed guilt. To this day, many people think “something happened.”

The truth will come out, it always does. I refuse to be a part of a character assassination based on "sources.".

What does one have to do with the other? Why would conservatives underreacting give you license to bring up rape and abuse and pretend like we know there were real victims, when we don’t?

React according to the level of misconduct, but when one is the recipient of such misconduct, there is a hurt life, regardless.

And I spoke of my own daughter's rape because my heart was touched reading the linked article that described how this one woman (then a very young woman just starting out with life) was accompanied by HER parents.

The time our country does not permit me to associate my own hurts and pains with others similar hurts and pains will be a sad time in history, and personally, I believe if our conservative television hosts and pundits overlook the real people here, focusing instead on history or momentum, they have done a real disservice to the morals and values our party USED to at least strive for.

If you don't like to hear others have feelings about this or if you can't stand it when another person actually relates to the individual's and family's changed lives (if not on the outside at least on the inside), then you should perhaps do some research on how these kinds of things impact entire lives and families for a lifetime, in some way or the other.

“Fine, call it sexual abuse. But it is a case where the woman, or man, cannot freely give consent.”

Nope, not that either. Lessening the charge does not alter the applicability. Consent has the same standard whether you’re raped or abused, and it is still not invalidated by a boss’ authority over his subordinate. You need:

A) a law dictionary, or
B) to stop throwing around words like “rape” and “abuse” willy-nilly.

It is for just this reason—i.e. rape and abuse immediately coming to mind, no matter what the particular circumstances—that sexual harassment law is so messed up.

“The time our country does not permit me to associate my own hurts and pains with others similar hurts and pains will be a sad time in history”

That’s just the thing, though, it’s not similar! Uncomfortability, non-overtly sexual harassment, inappropriate possible sex, etc. are not similar to rape. At least so long as we agree this case has nothing to do with rape. If it turns out to be rape, that’s another thing. But meantime, you are way overreacting and muddying the waters of discussion.

That’s possible but if she was more sober than him that opens up another issue. She would have been able to leave it would seem.

“If you don’t like to hear others have feelings about this or if you can’t stand it when another person actually relates to the individual’s and family’s changed lives (if not on the outside at least on the inside)”

Who’s changed life? How do you even know someone’s life was changed? And if it was changed, how was it changed in any manner close to how rape changed yours? Like I said, you might as well bring up that your daughter had been murdered. Only in that case, it very obviously would have no connection, and everyone on this thread, instead of most, would see it as a nonsequitor.

I still think you’re unaware that it’s a nonsequitor, and bring up rape not because both situations involve hurt families but because you think what Cain did is rape-esque. That’s possible, just like it’s possible anyone’s guilty of rape, so long as they’ve hid it well enough. But we have no reason to believe it, and it’s frankly out of line for you to bring it up.

The REAL “source” here is a conservative radio talk show host, but a lamestream newspaper (url posted here) at least cared enough to report what that conservative radio show host said.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/post/iowa-conservative-talk-radio-host-says-cain-made-awkward-comments-to-staff/2011/11/02/gIQApMDThM_blog.html

Iowa conservative talk radio host says Cain made ‘awkward’ comments to staff

DES MOINES — A conservative talk show host said Wednesday evening that businessman Herman Cain had made “awkward and inappropriate comments” to members of his staff, adding to the controversy around the Republican candidate who faces allegations of sexual harassment from his tenure as head of the National Restaurant Association.

snip

Deace, who hosts a syndicated radio program here, would not detail exactly what he was referring to or which of his staff members were affected. In a message on his Facebook page on Monday, Deace said that Cain said “things to both of my female staffers that at best are professionally awkward if not inappropriate over the last several months.” (The message, first reported by the Des Moines Register, has now been taken down from Facebook)

It is a self-permitted self deceit which allows people like you to overlook the truth, blaming the info coming out on everything but the kitchen sink.

And even though we are still waiting on more information so we can put this all into perspective, Mr. Cain’s behavior in all of this, in and of itself, should be enough to know he is a liar, if not one day when he says something, then another day when he says something completely different.

If you can’t at least show respect for those who have gone through some sort of sexually-related situation and the horrific experience Mr. Cain’s aspirations now are causing them to re-live yet again, at least have some respect for honesty and integrity in this world. I don’t think THAT’S asking to much of anyone.

My candidate may be down, but he's not out. 60 days is an eternity in politics.

OTOH. Its your candidate who is embroiled in the middle of a sex scandal. Deal with it. LOL
