Skip to comments. The Cain Smear, Romney, and Bachmann's new found campaign cash & South Carolina staff.

Over the last couple of months, the Bachmann campaign has been all but left for dead, failing to muster more than 2 to 4 percent in most credible polls since her "flash in the pan" Iowa straw poll victory.
Going largely unnoticed, and after Bachmann's SC campaign staff had already attended a "farewell and thank you" dinner that many recognized as a "we did our best" appreciation gesture for her SC staff, Bachmann suddenly receives an enormous cash infusion into her campaign, allowing her to hire an extremely expensive, high brow political consultant, Wesley Donehue.
Even more interesting - Wesley Donehue worked tirelessly for Mitt Romney during his failed 2008 campaign. Casual observers know Michelle Bachmann has a "special" cozy relationship with Team Romney. Many realize, myself included, that Bachmann's sole purpose in this 2012 race is to divide and splinter the 65% to 75% of the conservative base that do not and will never will accept Romney as a true "conservative" standard bearer.
Question 1: Where did Michelle's new funds come from?
Question 2: Has the Romney campaign, in any manner, directly or indirectly, aided or requested others to support Bachman's 2012 campaign?
Question 3: Doesn't this "Cain Attack" primarily benefit Romney?
Follow the money. Who does this so called "scandal" benefit the most, in political terms?
In my mind, Romney and Obama stand to gain the absolute most from Cain's demise. The Media and Obama have the absolute most to loose in the event that Cain is the Republican nominee.
And if the media can't ensure "The One" will be re-elected next year, then the media-GOP-Beltway establishment want their next most favored candidate to win - Mitt Romney.

Bachman had her turn at bat. I don’t think the voters were impressed.
I thought Bachmann had some real political talent
and she was doing her Presidential run to highlight Obamacare repeal.
But she went off track somewhere and now she has damaged
It’s very unfortunate.
Oh God, not this sh*t again.
Just like all the Cain garbabge is speculation, your hit piece on MB is filled with a lot of accusations and speculation and no facts.
MB is a conservative, and a Tea Party conservative at that. She appears to not be the best candidate to put up in 2012, but that doesn’t give you the right to smear her or call her a “psuedo” TP candidate. This is no different from the idiot hack in IA that was backing Perry and barking at her to GTFO of the race because she was only in it for herself.
I agree - she had her turn. Her only role NOW is to be Mitt’s “attack kitten” by aggressively debating Mitten’s competitors so Mitt can keep his fingers clean.
I think that the latest “pile-on” my MB and Santorumn related to the Cain harassment claims this week was disappointing and unnecessary.
While Cain is leading the polls, I just can’t understand why a fellow GOP candidate would aid and abet the MSM in this type of attack. The thought crosses my mind that these two are in it for themselves (to win) no matter what the damage might be to the party. Both MB and Santorum are so far down in the polls right now that they do not have a chanc in Hades of getting the nomination. So, what in heaven’s name are they doing trying to bring down a candidate that may win the nomination and be running head to head against Obama next year???
I like Mrs. Bachmann and wouldn’t question her bona fides without more than opinion to back up a challenge. But I think enough people have seen what she offers and that her moment has passed. I could be wrong, but bear in mind she’s never won even a state-wide election and her district is smaller than 1 million residents. Republicans simply do not nominate members of the House.
And by the way - Mitt can’t even spell “Tea Party” - Why is it that Michelle Bachmann, the founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, is working so closely and intimately with the one candidate and his close advisors that LEAST represent the voice of the Tea Party?
Yes. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm .....
probably because she thinks that given his liberal background, he’s going to have to pick a Tea Party conservative for VP to balance out the ticket, and that it might as well be her.
Define *closely* and *intimately*. What, are you going off of the debate smooch greeting or the softball question Romney threw her in the “ask the candidates” segment of the Bloomberg debate?
As for the smooch, he was the person called to stage just before Michele and greeted her as such. Just like Santorum greeted Ron Paul when Paul came out right after him.
As for the softball question, I’ve been thinking about this more and realize that the Romney people probably told him not to get into a scuffle with the other candidates and to stay above the fray and look Presidential. That means asking Perry, Paul, Santorum, or Huntsman a question was right out. Asking Newt a question might have backfired with Newt embarassing Romney with his superior intellect. And Romney didn’t want to give Herman Cain more time to explain his 9-9-9. So I think Bachmann was the default candidate to throw a softball to.
Bachmann is a Congresswoman and that is it.
Perry is not a serious candidate except he can raise money.
If Cain falls from this, I thin Newt will win.
Hmmm, let's see. Gardasil causes mental retardation? A woman backstage told me so? Could that be it?
