A Republican source who was at the dinner in which pollster Chris Wilson says Herman Cain sexually harassed a young staffer is contradicting the account, telling CBS News he never saw Cain sexually harass anyone that night, although he does remember Cain drinking.
"I did not see a lech," the source said.

Dare I ask why the source is anonymous?
I’m sorry but only anonymous sources and vague non-sexual hand gestures will make me not vote or support Cain
What a fascinating photo. Thanks for posting. The difference between the two men is telling. Obama just looks like he’s seen something vaguely unusual; Sarko is like: hubba hubba!!
This turns out to be a hatchet job and I’m waiting for the proof, There should be a major law suit. So tomorrow is day 5. No pictures, no names where is the smoke?
All I see is a lawyer running the mouth. Non stop.
Why is the Cain source anoymous? sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
I’ll bet the source has seen a lawyer or heard from one...15 minutes of fame came down to 3 minutes and then backed out...don’t like liars...
Lies rumor and trial by accusation are not VETTING. This scumbag political attack is going to bite Rove the GOP machine right on the butt.
Filing lawsuits over press reports, gossip and innuendo is about the stupidest thing a politician can do - especially one running for office. It just keeps the story in the news indefinitely. The way to deal with these situations is just get everything out there right away so the drip, drip, drip stuff doesn't continue. The fact of the matter is, the underlying Politico story was accurate and it would have come out at some point one way or the other - if not during the primaries then most certainly during a general election campaign had Cain been nominated.
Tell you what. YOU provide something other then rumor, hearsay and accusation to back up your assault on Cain.
Sorry but your emotional attachment to Perry renders you complete incoherent on this topic.
You smeared Perry...you were wrong. Yes, I want the name of the source.
Wilson’s name came out as a witness...why can’t the republican friend of Cain’s name also come out?
Why don’t you email CBS and ask them. I’m sure they’ll be happy to tell you.
1. to loucon: I think its time for this to be resolved.
2. to freerepublic: I’m considering it.
3. to katiedidit1: Political Hijinks!
4. to lahargis: and your point is?
5. to Steely Tom: Very attractive, but I always want at least three views from different perspectives. (just kidding)
6. to frogjerk: I’ll give you a double toss for that.
7. to reefdiver: Personally, I’m tired of seeing lawyers make money off the backs of honest, hard working people.
8. to katiedidit1: I won’t repeat myself. :b
9.to goat granny: If I had inside knowledge of this, depending on the accuracy of the claims, I might run the other way myself.
Hmmmm!!!!
This is a Clinton scandal. That Wilson guy ought to explain to all of us what he's doing working for the Clintons?
You are wasting everyone's time endlessly falling back on the "perrybot" stuff. I criticize Perry all the time for lousy communication skills and crappy immigration positions.
Cain is a rank amateur. Period. Neither he or his campaign team can handle a serious presidential campaign without falling all over themselves saying and doing dumb stuff. Were he to be nominated he would get utterly crushed by Hussein.
The Cain campaign had 2 weeks to prepare. That doesn't mean they had to violate any confidentiality agreements, it just means they had time for their entire campaign team to at least get themselves on the same page. They failed. To this very day Cain and his campaign manager are contradicting themselves over who supposedly leaked this information to the media. Block backed off after Anderson flatly denied it and Cain is still on yesterday's page.
Further, why the anger about this be released anyway? It was going to come out if Cain won the nomination anyway. There is no chance this would remain secret. Hussein's oppo teams would have known about it and would have timed its release for maximum damage - perhaps right before the election. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff we need to know about now.
And filing lawsuits against Politico. When exactly has that ever worked for a candidate who didn't like information leaked to the media? That would only keep the story in the news - and besides, the Politico story largely turned out to be true.
National Restaurant Association chairman (Joseph Fassler) during Cains tenure: Its a hatchet job
“A Republican source”? Are the sources who are denigrating Cain Democrats? Why haven’t the women been investigated? See B.S. “News” has plenty of pull...why can’t they discover some facts about the accusers?
And by the way, why aren’t they interested in Hussein’s failures to get the economy moving? The jackass told us we’d be at something like 7.5% unemployment now. or lower. Where are we?
Oh, I know TOMORROW some number will come out and the media will sing Hussein’s praises. He is Allah among us! Meanwhile, American wealth continues to go down the crapper.
Yes, you are correct. My neighbors and most of my coworkers would also do a better job than Hussein. Being right isn't enough in politics - if it were we wouldn't have a 15 trillion dollar debt and a country going down the toilet. Lots of people are right on the issues, but the vast majority can't get elected. Not just anyone has the skill set required to get people to vote for them. We need a candidate that is both right on the issues AND can get elected. Cain seems to have good common sense, though I don't think he articulates policy particularly well - but he is a political novice who doesn't stand the slightest chance in the world of defeating Obama and his billion dollar political machine. Cain is still contradicting his own campaign manager on whether Anderson leaked the story to Politico. After all these days they STILL can't stay on the same page.
The question is, do you want a career politician who reacts to situation in the predictable (politically motivated) way, or do you want someone who will give it a little thought and consult his advisers as to the best course of action to follow?
I want a conservative who can actually win. I am not going to down the road of nominating people who can't win in order to feel really good about myself. This has all the hallmarks of the Christine O'Donnell and Sharon Angle fiasco's. Nominating folks who may be great on the issues but have little to no chance of winning is an exercise in utter pointlessness.
The issue here is, among the GOP candidates, who can do the best job.
If your asking who is actually right on almost every issue, I'd go with Bachmann. The problem is she would make a bad general election candidate. My next pick if I were just going by who is most right on the issues would be Santorum - again, he couldn't beat Hussein. Cain doesn't even articulate conservative positions very well, but he does have a sunny disposition and comes off as a happy warrior - problem is, I also think he'd lose badly to Hussein. So now I am down to perhaps having to support Newt - though he carries so much personal baggage and has such a difficult time staying focused that I don't give him great chances either.
..and then We the People, need to stand behind that man.
I will vote for whoever the GOP nominee is - even if I think they are a terrible choice.
Any bets on when Wilson gets fired??? BTW he worked for Rove in Texas...such friggin beltway hack incest..
We must keep in mind that if the besmirchers had hard evidence they would instantly employ it and destroy Cain once and for all. They are using the oblique lines of attack because they (a) don't have anything else (so far) and (b) they fear this man greatly.
If this is all that there is to the "scandal" than IMHO I'll quote Joe Walsh and say "So What?".
Can’t stand Rove..such an arrogant man that thinks it is his job to dictate who should or who should not be supported.
Than=then....Doh!
You mean by “vaguely unusual” that Obama is surprised to see a skinny butt on a woman? Bob
I had a different interpretation of the body language. Having gone to a majority black high school, I immediately recognized Obama’s expression as what I would call, pardon my French, the “Dayum” face. As in “Dayum! That’s a fine booty”. Sarkozy likes it too, but he is playing coy, with a wry smile and his finger to his lips as if to supress himself from saying something that he is thinking. Black guys just tend to a bit more expressive than the white guys when they see something they like.
What do you disagree with exactly? I didn't say I liked the way it is, just that this is life. Human beings are not going to change and when given a chance to vote for the politicians of there choice, being right on the issues is just not enough.
If being right were all there was too it, we wouldn't have all the problems we do now. You think by bemoaning the fact that people vote on how much they like someone, or whether they'd like to play hoops with a candidate, or whether they identify with them for any number of reasons is going to make things change? The fact remains, being right is not enough in politics. A successful politician is one that knows how to get elected - they lie, manipulate, demagogue, deflect, use clever oratory, distract, paper over anything they know people don't want to hear, etc, etc.
All sorts of terrible leaders get elected precisely because they are charismatic even if they are dead wrong about everything. That is never going to change because human nature is never going to change.
Our job is to find the best conservative in the race who has the political skills to actually win a general election. Cain has a sunny disposition and is a happy warrior, but his campaign is amateur hour and just isn't going to cut it against a professional, polished, 1 billion dollar Obama machine.
Rove trying to make the Mass. Myth real says a lot about Rove..
I can’t prove it but I suspect Rove is a malefactor..
He Could be “W’s” problem.. turning him into a democrat “b!tch”..
Cain should be careful of being infiltrated.. by “ringers”..
Oh my - big fancy dinner, drinks. Really?
Obama bears no relationship to ANY black man I ever known.
Good point!
Plus, I just don’t think Obama is that into women.
listening to Rush today was great huh, I’ll bet you about crapped all over your self when he talked about law suites and how people just like YOU should be ashamed of your selves, I thought he was talking right to u
Well Sh!t, we all know your going to fall all over your self explaining, you ain’t the problem.
ha
u keep believing ur a leader.

That screed could be one of the worst, most badly written, posts I've ever read on FR. Please try English next time and I might take you seriously.
That would be nice! If only Cain had done that instead of blurting out whatever came into his head at the moment, contradicting his own campaign manager, and putting his candidacy at risk by stating something that could easily be proven wrong in the future.
This is an issue that has not been explored. I wonder how many conservatives have let the Rat accusations of racism become internalized, in spite of their knowledge to the contrary, and are fighting to prove their innocence?
who cares what u take
It would be very hard to have a discussion like that here or on most other politics forums. I think you are on to something, but I doubt it can be debated without venom and hatred flying almost immediately.
Fail.
My guess is that now that the harassment smear hasn't buried Mr. Cain, they're going to start floating the rumor that he has a drinking problem. It will be all anonymous sources again, of course.
loser & back stabber to conservatives. Rush was as plain spoken as could be.
please disappear.
i am ashamed of u
I checked out the money Obama has raised...unbelievable! mostly from California, Silicon Valley, hi-tech and liberal states. MASSIVE war chest. The dems have to be laughing as we devour our own and it is almost impossible to question anything about a “certain” candidate on this forum without being attacked. Politics are corrupt and that can’t be denied. We have to pray that Obama loses as he is the worst president in my lifetime.
IF moral or social issues counted Santorum would be way up there...he is NOT my choice but he is ignored.
I never would have thought race had anything to do with it all, at first, but now that it is so clear to me that Cain is not qualified to be president I can think of no other reason for the irrational clinging to this candidate, other than what I stated. I have heard what seems like a hundred times over the last few days that the libs just can’t stand to see a successful conservative black candidate. It’s become a contest of wills now, as it wasn’t a few weeks ago.
Unless people are following Rush blindly off the cliff, which has happened before.
