I have a little problem with the logic. The article said "to allow illegal immigrants to move freely" but once they got the visas, they wouldn't be illegal immigrants; they'd be legal.

ding ding ding ding We have a winner!

Some will argue with you that it's not amnesty, but making it legal for somebody who is here illegally is dang close to an amnesty. They were breaking the law, but under Perry's plan, they would no longer be breaking the law.

He said that Cain had raised a million dollars in the last few days. I thought maybe as often as Cain has accused people of racism, that Sharpton might have given it to him.

Lets say processing on illegal out of country costs 5K.
To deport 12 million would cost us 6 Trillion.

There has to be a better way.

Right, they would not be breaking the law, but they would not become citizens. What would you do and do you see any chance they will all be deported anytime soon? We can all hope. But we must secure the border.

BS, this is not about race or culture or any other hog wash. More Mexican citizens are allowed to come here LEGALLY to work than from any other country- by far. The issue is ILLEGALS and I don’t personally care what country illegals come from or if they are purple I want them GONE. Citizens from Mexico are here illegally in numbers far larger than from any other country so they get more attention- but all illegals need to be dealt with the same.

Great point...it took me a couple of times to figure it out though. It’s like Obama running against (federal) government corruption.

The Feds wont deport the undocumented workers, so Perry proposes documenting them for a start.

And here I thought Perry was running for an office that could change that.

Perry on the border: he knows that true border security comes from restoring order in Mexico. But there is an ever bigger problem on the horizon. You should read this report (See page 7)  it is at least one example of the DoD's desire to move the "War on Drugs" under the umbrella of the "War on Terror". It might even be the right thing to do, but when it happens that will move the next battle ground to our front porch. That should scare the hell out of anyone living in Texas, Arizona and California.

Perry gets a bad wrap over the in-state tuition, I get it, its a bad law. My biggest problem with it is that it is actually useless. Unless they can get citizenship their degree will be worthless anyway. Perry is against amnesty so it was pointless to begin with and calling people heartless was beyond stupid. But it actually wasn't his doing. He had only been governor for a few months and the reason why the legislative branch passed it was because they had inside knowledge that the newly elected President in 2001 was going to pass amnesty, they just wanted to get a jump on it and try to turn them into tax payers instead of legal welfare recipients. Had it not been for 9/11 Bush would have passed it. Perry's big problem now is that most of his donors are in Texas where Bush is still very much loved and admired. If he goes out and tells the truth about the in-state tuition bill his support will dry up and every Conservative in the country will accuse him of parroting Obama by blaming Bush.

Perry is fighting the border war regardless of what anyone else says, he has the record. He and Jan Brewer are the only two people in this country that are, hell no one from the Federal Government has given a damn about our border since Patton was here trying to kill Pancho Villa. Perry has ordered Greg Abbott to do everything in his power including joining in the lawsuits the Obama filed against Arizona because we had the money to fight the Government while Arizona did not.

But if you just don't like Perry, I can understand that. But check out Rick Santorum. I met him a couple of weeks ago at a non-political event at the Mansfield-Arlington Pregnancy Center. I truthfully intended to chew him out over his attack on my state but he held his own and showed me he got it too.

There has to be a better way.

There is, problem is, Perry is against most if not all of it:

1. Build the fence complete across the border. It may not stop all of the traffic, but like the fence along the border in Southern Cal, it will stop most of it.(Perry is against this.)
2. Implement E-Verify as a requirement for being hired for any job in the US. (Perry is against this as well)
3. Implement Interior Enforcement like AZ1070 and the GA bill that is similiar. (Perry is against this as well)
4. Make it illegal except for emergency health care to get any social services, including free education for their kids(Perry hasn't been presented with this option, but I doubt he would be for it).

Making it next to impossible to get a job and get any of the freebies they are currently getting at the expense of taxpayers will make residing in the US untenable and they will self-deport, plain and simple.

Right the Feds won’t do their job of deporting them. They just come back anyway if they want to. A fence must be put up and it stopped, then deport them and that game is over.

You needn’t worry.
I appears that no one will give Perry a fair shake or reflect on the actual good deeds he has done.

He will never be elected at this rate, and then we can have a president with NO understanding of the problem.

Then Suzanna Martinez can struggle along with no Federal support on the matter.

I have given Perry every benefit of the doubt and supported him, with trepidation and fingers and toes crossed until this. But this? Deal breaker. Done. Over. Out.

Here is the direct answer to work visas. They already exist for those who live in their home countries. Illegals should go back to their home countries and choose a legal path that already exists. No special laws for invaders.

http://oldlineelephant.com/2011/02/23/interview-herman-cain/

MRN: If elected, how would a Cain administration deal with border security and illegal immigration?

HC: First things first: the term “comprehensive immigration reform” tossed around by liberals is simply code for “do nothing” which becomes amnesty. There are 3 steps to solving our illegal immigration problem: securing the border (we put a man on the moon, so this isn’t that hard!); enforce the laws; promote the existing path to citizenship.

1. Secure the border

2. Enforce the laws [that already exist. No special work visas for illegals.]

3. Promote the existing path to citizenship. [No special laws for illegals]

Seventeen million dollars and Perry can’t buy a clue. At the very least Perry should stop talking about this subject. It is a vote killer.

“Some will argue with you that it’s not amnesty, but making it legal for somebody who is here illegally is dang close to an amnesty.”

...and it becomes Amnesty once a judge or Congress deem it so. These Illegals have roots here (i.e., houses, families, extended families), they CANNOT become guest workers in the traditional sense...where they have a home to go to after the work is done. We MUST get rid of this bunch first, and then talk about guest workers. If they stay, they will DEMAND to become citizens, just so they can vote Republicans out of power...which may be Perry’s REAL long-term goal for the country (why else take this path?).

It would not cost a dime to deport them if they have no damn jobs and no way to make a living. So just admit you support perry because you want amnesty. Stop all the BS., no jobs, no free anything they go back home.
