Why? This is the equivalent of the Bracero Program. Surely you have heard about that! It worked great then Carter decided to do away with it when he was President... that was a huge mistake. In a program like this they come here — without their families — work the fields and then return home until the next season...

Operation Wetback( not trying to offend that is what is was called) worked too but that doesn’t mean that it would work today. Even the name would not work. The Bracero Program spawned Operation W. Our Northern and Southern boarders are in a sad state worse then during the Bracero Program since we were in World War 2 and needed the labor that is why FDR commissioned the program. I submit to you labor is not a problem the availability of jobs is. They had control with a max of 444,000 in 1957. Now the states and for that matter the country cannot handle the extra influx of people. The government has not been able to control anything and do you actually trust the feds to conduct this mass immigration with out corruption? So what happens when the participants fade into illegal activity or worse commit terrorist acts?

The Bracero program ended between 1964-1967. Pretty sure that was several years before Carter was President.
