IT'S COME TO THIS: Could Sarah Palin Could Get Back In The Race?
Business Insider ^ | November 8, 2011 | Glynnis MacNicol

Things are so bad for the GOP and/or Republicans are so turned off by the idea that Mitt Romney is their only viable option rumors have once again surfaced that Sarah Palin could get back in the race.

Yes.

NYT numbers expert Nate Silver thinks there's a slim chance she could pull it off.

One major constraint is that the filing deadline has already passed in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. So a candidate who entered now could not get her name on the ballot in those states, although some states, like New Hampshire, allow for write-in votes.

However, the candidate could participate in caucuses, including the Jan. 3 caucus in Iowa and the February caucuses in Maine, Nevada, Colorado and Minnesota, which do not have rigid filing deadlines.

She would also potentially be able to participate in the primaries in Arizona and Michigan on Feb. 28, which are the next primaries following a four-week gap after Florida....

Well Palin was willing to be McCain’s VP.

And she supported the bastard in the 2010 Arizona primaries against a real conservative, J.D. Hayworth!

Talk about epic fail.

And she said, you betcha to being Romney’s VP in 2012 and has yet to disavow or say my bad mistake on this. So how precisely is she any different than any of the politico game players? Why did SarahPac ask for quick hurry up money to show Sarah Palin support and then announce the end of the tease not long afterwards.I don’t give a damn what anybody says in adoration of Palin’s superb politics she has a lot of splainin to do to EVER be anything more than the spokesperson of the tea party. She would have to do some serious explainin for me to support her being energy secretary.

Hey, you have a Palin wish party going here and I didnt get pinged till #65 ?

We need these threads every so often so we can get together and share fond memories of Palin WH fantasy train.

Remember the Bus tour, and the Iowa passion video, and ‘the Undefeated ‘ (renamed ‘the Unwilling’ LOL), and those expiring ethics charges and hiring the advisers (wink, wink), and the ‘I can win’ Newsweek cover in the running suit??
Man it was a fun ride.

One major constraint is that the filing deadline has already passed in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. So a candidate who entered now could not get her name on the ballot in those states, although some states, like New Hampshire, allow for write-in votes. /i>

Consider this:

1. Romney is stuck at 25%...and unlikely to go higher.

2. Cain was touching 30% and, while his supporters seem determined to stick by him, the sexual harrassment BS probably caps him at that level.

3. Gingrich is creeping up toward 15%.

4. Ron Paul is going to get 10% of the vote -- whether he deserves it or not.

5. Don't know/don't care/Bachman, Santorum, Johnson, Huntsman, etc. amount to the remainder.

Unlike 2008, when the early primary states employed a "winner take all" system, this time around most are employing a proportional distribution of delegates. Remember that McCain locked up his candidacy before he ever won a majority of primary voters. That won't happen again.

So, what happens if we go thru January (i.e., Florida)...and still don't have a nominee? The probability is that we'll arrive at the convention...and still not have a nominee.

Then what?

We haven't confronted this situation in decades. 1960 was probably the last time that a convention actually named the nominee (JFK).

But, given a deadlocked Republican convention, with three legitimate contenders, what happens? Be aware that most primaries bind the delegates through the first ballot only, some thru the second. None thru the third.

In 1924, the Democrats nominated John W. Davis...on the 104th ballot.

Given a stage ruled by the establishment...and a floor controlled by the Tea Party...anything could happen.

Maybe Karl Rove gets mugged on the floor between the 5th and 6th ballot. And could somebody nominate Sarah Palin on the 7th ballot...???

Damn straight.

So someone, at some point, somewhere in the known universe, peed in your cornflakes...

I am constantly amazed that people claim that certain threads are tiresome, boring, etc. But they just somehow find a way to click the link anyway. OCD, I suppose.

RE :”Oh, you’re good.

Thanks,

That link has come in handy in the past many times. I used it as a counter-attack on Bachman threads when a certain Palinista used to post a picture of Bachmann looking at Romney to smear her.

No one peed in my wheaties or cornflakes but some of the Palinista’s posts over all of these months need nothing but a rubber room picture and I grew tired of kindly warning she is not running & too get head’s out of .....the clouds and being called deranged and unchristian. She teased it is over.

RE :"The Undefeated is a bargain, now. ;)"

Did you see my comment on that the night she went on Levin?

That is why she waited three days after it went out as a DVD.

It was released on DVD on October 4th.
She called Levin’s show with her announcement on the 5th.

Another Freeper had an interesting thought, but I can’t remember who said it at the time.

What if Palin had direct information of the sales for the Undefeated on the 4th? What if that was her barometer that she made her decision by? If the sales were fantastic on the release date, she’d jump in. If the sales were mediocre, she’d pass.

“I have thought she held out to see if Christie got in. If Christie did he would have diluted the RINO vote.”

Good analysis. This is the problem with the Repub party. The conservatives split the vote and the one RINO w/money gets the nomination. I think if Christie or Rudy got in, then a conservative has a chance. Right now, Romney has a clear path to the nomination. Sad situation we conservatives are left with.
