Did Reverend Al Not Realize Bachmann Was Quoting Scripture?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

It's one thing for your average, secular liberal not to know the New Testament. But for the Reverend Al Sharpton not to know better?

On his MSNBC show this evening, Sharpton showed Michelle Bachmann, after making the case for self-reliance, saying "if anyone will not work, neither shall they eat." Even this NewsBuster, who is anything but expert in the area, realized that Bachman was quoting Scripture to the effect that people who are unwilling--not unable--to work don't deserve support. But Sharpton incredibly claimed Bachmann meant that "if you don't have work, you should starve."

Could Sharpton possibly not have known Bachmann was quoting Scripture? Reverend Al ping to Today show list.

Of course “Rev.” Al didn’t know she was quoting Scripture. As Michael Savage calls him the “reverend” who nobody knows where he went to Divinity School.

Rev Al is not really a Rev, and in my opinion he’s not even a Christian. He’s a street hustler who worships the almighty buck.

He probably didn’t. The “Reverend” belongs to the Church of Al Sharpton.

For Rev. Al, it doesn't matter where it came from, but how he can spin it to make Bachmann look bad.

Heck, if any of the GOP candidates walked on water, Rev Al would complain that they couldn't swim.

I am happy this irrelevant network gave Al a show. I have never watched it and could not even tell you what channel that network is on. However, Al has provided some great laughs and I am confident he will continue to do so.

All we can do is laugh..... I can’t believe Fox had this guy on all the time as a serious commentator.

The fact that he’s a phony reverend who never attended seminary school might have something do with his ignorance. But we do know that he is a rabble-rousing instigator and a demagogue with blood on his hands.

Sharpton was addressing what he thought Bachmann meant. (If one wanted to be super picky, one could point out that the original biblical passage appears in a discussion of church government.)

wait a second. he’s supposed to be an actual reverend? seriously?? I thought that was an ‘honorary’ title given to outspoken blacks the left wants to cloak in a shroud of religion to be more acceptable to the right leaning Christians

I’m trying to think of any actual religious leaders that would incite a mob to violence... well, that wasn’t muslim

That's true, and it probably wouldn't be hard to maneuver Sharpton into a statement that whitey should be starved because he hasn't done enough for the darkey.

From Wikipedia:

Sharpton was licensed and ordained a Pentecostal minister by Bishop F.D. Washington at the age of nine[73] or ten.[74] After Bishop Washington’s death in the late 1980s, Sharpton became a Baptist. He was re-baptized as a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in 1994 by the Reverend William Jones[28] and became a Baptist minister.[73][75]

During 2007, Sharpton participated in a public debate with Christopher Hitchens, who is an atheist, and Sharpton defended his religious faith and his belief in the existence of God.[76][77]

Al is an idiot. Always has been.

Ever since the first pilgrims came to the US they learned that socialism does not work in less than one year.

The Reverend must have one of the mail-order ministries degrees.
