Gary Shultz had the Campus Police Chief as his direct report per what has been reported. It was also reported yesterday on Fox News that Paterno also contacted him.

What is happenning is a pile on Paterno before the facts have completely come to light. To my knowledge, Paterno has always conducted himself in the highest manner. I would find it difficult to believe that Paterno would allow a pedofile access to his football program if he believed the report was credible.

Before we bury him, he should be allowed the dignity of explaining his actions.

Isn’t this what we are requesting of the treatment for Herman Cain?

I would have screamed..grabbed that child away, called the police and the child’s parents. I don’t know which i would have done first, attack Sandusky or grab the kid.

I was making the point that Paterno didn’t report it to the police, not that no one did. According to the grand jury report, Paterno only told the AD. The AD brought in Schultz the next day in a meeting where Paterno was not present.

I think all of these state colleges around the country have long been in need of a harrowing. Back in 1991 when I was preparing for NC State, I was hopeful that the Valvano/Poulton scandal would mean NCSU would worry less about sports and more about academics. I’m a little wiser now. But then consider what happened to NCSU’s last chancellor because of his connections to NC’s previous godawful governor. Then there was that yearly “emerging issues forum” NCSU held yearly that always seemed to mirror current Democrat talking points. Public universities are rotten.

The end of Mary Anne Fox's tenure at NCSU is also instructive. Gee, you wouldn't think that party politics and big athletic programs would have anything to do with declining academics, would ya?

If Paterno didn't think McQuery's incredibly serious charge that he saw a ten year old being raped was credible, then that's a terrible indictment of his trust in mcQuery. But yet McQuery has been with the program and is now wide receivers coach, so he must trust the guy. There isn't much grey area here, unless you Paterno though McQuery was a psycho pathological liar, he has to take the responsibility to report it to the police.

None of the papers are reporting, nor is it in the grand jury report that Paterno reported it to Gary Shultz. If you can provide a link to a source?

Paterno has been free to defend himself for the last few days, and hasn't.

I would love to know why MQueary is still being allowed to coach at Penn State! This guy should have picked up a shovel or a bat or SOMETHING to beat the hell out of that pervert when he saw him raping that poor child.

I’m a grandfather- not in the shape that young man was. But I would by G*d gather what strength I have and I would have given that sicko a beating he wouldn’t forget BEFORE I drug his sorry ass to the police station.

Where was the moral fiber of THIS kid? I don’t care if he was a grad student. He was old enough to know right from wrong and he should be the next one axed in this torrid mess.

I’ve haven’t been this disgusted by the decisions of a bunch of spineless men in my life. These “trustees” need to grow a pair and clean house of the lot of them. Sickening, whining, little weasels.
