Hello,
After twelve years, I am resurrecting a stereo component systen that has been dormant and in a cabinet. I need to purchase speakers, hopefully white. Do you have any recommendations?
I got the tuner to work, and the six disc cd player. The tape deck is working but wont speak to the tuner. My focus is speakers. they are the wire kind that connect up in the back with little red and black twisties.
LOL! I hear you. I had to be alone in the house as a teen to be able to use them to their potential.
Bose
I am thinking you need to look for speaker repair shops, people bring em in to be fixed and don`t come back. And they buy them from people..also, you have a better chance of not buying something with a problem...

AK is a great website.
My company imports/distributes very high-end equipment from Europe and Far East so I normally surf sites like AK from time to time.
Dynaco A-25 speakers. Available on e-Bay.
Polks.
Nuff said.
I am getting!!
If you want a nice pair of bookshelf speakers, look for a pair of Bose 301’s - Craigslist is a good source. Expect to pay anywhere from $75-$150 for those. Be sure to take the covers off and check the speaker surrounds - some models of these rot out over time. Sold mine when I found a pair of vintage Kindel floor speakers. If you “need” white cabinets, that might be problem....don’t see too many of those although IIRC Polk Audio makes some small ones in white. Crutchfield used to carry them.
And welcome back to the stereo world.

LOL!
All three of the brands I recommended carry speakers in a wide variety of price ranges.
If you have a Frys or equivalent, stop by and go listen in their showrooms and see what suits you the best.
Sorry for the double post.....Bush’s fault.

What brand? Model number? You should buy speakers that match up with your system.. No sense buying speakers that are , sorta,,, too good for your system, or not good enough, if you know what I mean. I’m strictly a tube stereo guy. Fisher 500-C in the living room.
I third or fourth going to Audiokarma and poking around. Good luck, Rock on.

FReegards
They ended up merging with Infinity, didn't they?
does one need to be worried about the megahertzkilowattamps?
I am eager to be back to the stereo world. I was never an ipod fan and have been subsisting on the quickie box store systems. Not so good. The component system I have is not so wonderful. The good system was uninsured when we were robbed and never really replaced.
However I am beginning to realize through this thread, that I am not alone in wanting to listen to quality music through components.
This should be a wondrful adventure!
well, yes, you generally need to know what your stereo is pushing out at max watts, then get speakers that can handle a little more...other way around and you better not go into “COCERT MODE!” lol...remember “Back to the future” and the guitar amp?

I, sir, am impressed.
These are just some pioneer and JVC from the early 90’s
