Suffolk Prof On US Military: They’re “Killers,” Sympathy For Them “Not Rational In Today’s World”
Michael Graham ^ | 11/10/2011 | Michael Graham

Posted on 11/11/2011 11:33:59 AM PST by Hemingway's Ghost

On Wednesday a member of the Suffolk Law School staff sent out an email soliciting “much needed supplies to put in care packages to be sent to deployed troops.” You know, stuff like beef jerky, instant coffee, trail mix, etc? Scout troops do stuff like this all the time. In fact, the email specifically mentioned that one Suffolk Law student deployed to Afghanistan would be a recipient.

Pretty basic, patriotic stuff, right? Well, read this response from one of the Suffolk Law professors who received it, a (ahem) “gentleman” named Michael Avery:

I think it is shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings. I understand that there is a residual sympathy for service members, perhaps engendered by support for troops in World War II, or perhaps from when there was a draft and people with few resources to resist were involuntarily sent to battle. That sympathy is not particularly rational in today's world, however.

Sympathetic article about poor Avery receiving death threats and saying controversial speech “gets the conversation going” and “tells uncomforable truths” coming shortly.

Michael Avery, another one of those so called, "world citizens" who couldn't survive in a world without those who stand at the gate.

If this "person" was found in my foxhole when the balloon went up, I'd shoot him.

You’d think a law professor would know that our military swears allegiance only to the Constitution, and so goes only where we are told to go. His issue isn’t with the military, it’s with the people the nation elects.

As far as I’m concerned, he can FOAD.

My word, what a place.

Sam Adams is spinning in his grave.

From his Suffolk University page:

Degrees:
BA, LLB, Yale University; attended University of Moscow, U.S.S.R. 1968-1969.

I shit you not.

What is it with Yale? Why do they churn out the biggest pieces of sh*t in America?

1968 - 1972. Hippies, weathermen, Marxist intellectuals/ academics
2008 - present. OWS, anarchists, Marxist media / intellectuals / academics.

This time the “great silent majority” is too busy with Facebook to notice.

Not necessarily. There's serious competition from Haavaad and Princetin.

YEP! And not all that far from the Old State House, where all the fun was kicked off on March 5, 1770.

Greetings from another Vietnam vet who is proud of his service, too. Leftwing academics who show indifference or moral equivalence or outright hostility to our brave military are nothing new to us.

How about those reporters during Desert Shield/Desert Storm who would not warn a U.S. soldier about to be ambushed, to preserve their “moral neutral objectivity”?

As for this turkey, here’s a college cheer I heard once,

“We are loyal and true, Suffolk you!”

;^)

He says “killers” like that is a BAD thing!

The purpose of war is to kill people and break things.

If you would have peace, prepare for war.

It is only that we have armed and dangerous “killers” ready to kill in our defense that we are kept safe from a world full of armed and organized people with homicidal intent.

This sentence is just so friggen egregious I can't even breathe:

GUARANTEED this fat POS was at Travis AFB spitting on returning vets, or cheered on those who did.

From the article: "I think it is shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings."

And I think that it is shameful that a PROFESSOR at a LAW school doesn't know the meaning or usage of the word "legitimate". No, he really doesn't: "The politics of that solicitation are that war is legitimate, perhaps inevitable, and that patriotic Americans should get behind our troops."

My Uncle was once confronted by a young mush for brains who yelled at him, "You're only fighting because they pay you!"

He smiled sadly and asked her, "Young lady, would you really prefer a military full of people who did it for fun?"

I don't believe I ever saw anyone do a better fish imitation then she did.

The crime is that he is teaching the next generation. This is from the Suffolk University Law web site biography;

SUBJECTS: Constitutional Law, Individual Rights, Evidence, Scientific Evidence

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: "President, National Lawyers Guild (NLG) (2003 - 2006); Former President, Board of Directors, National Police Accountability Project; Frequently invited to lecture on the topic of constitutional law and/or police misconduct at law. ..."

Note the association with the "National Lawyers Guild", a very leftist legal organization. Shocking!
