Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich just opened his Manchester, N.H., campaign office moments ago. Gingrich told the volunteers and visitors he would take questions.
Can you give us a hint of who might be in your Cabinet, a man shouted from the back of the crowded room of about 200 people.
Well Ill give you an example Im looking for, Gingrich said. I believe we have to overhaul the State Department very dramatically. I think we need a secretary of state who is tough-minded and who would represent American interests. I think that Ambassador Bolton represents that kind of person.

Just the opposite for me. His little smile and twinkling eyes, make me smile. Newt reminds me of Churchill. (not that I actually knew Churchill)
I am all for eloquence and principles, except when a person compromises them.
I like Newt, but I don’t trust him. He is the kind of guy who thinks he can talk you into seeing it his way. Problem is that we are never too sure what that will be at any given time.
If he is the nominee, I will vote for him.
Best I can say.
Would it have helped to know about all the Communists Obama was going to pick?
My Cabinet, if I were President:
Vice-President: Newt Gingrich
State: John Bolton
Treasury: Herman Cain
Justice: Rudy Giuliani
Defense: Paul Wolfowitz
Commerce: Donald Trump
Interior: Sarah Palin
Transportation: Rick Perry
Health: Dr. Ron Paul
Labor: abolished
Agriculture: abolished
HUD: abolished
Energy: abolished
Education: abolished
Homeland Security: abolished
Bolton we can trust. Newt we can trust to resign at the firt sigh of political hot water-just as he resigned from the Speakers’s position rather than stay and fight. I will never forget tht Newt is a coward.
When Obama was elected, I noted that Jimmy Carter set the stage for Reagan; and that a similar Obama failed Presidency would lead to another conservative as President. We need someone who can articulate a conservative message to further move voters to the right as was done in 1980.
Good job.
I think we all agree. We are cautiously for him, or at least willing to give him a chance.
The connection of “The Professor” to “The Leader” is the question I would ask him.
“Newt in our minds you are like the great history professor we all remember having in school, but to lead this country and the world for that matter is a different story. We all know you’re the smartest guy in the room, and you’ll have no problem handling the press, but can you lead?”
They dont like Bolton. That isnt the point.
The point isnt to appeal to Democrats, it’s to appeal to conservatives, to pump up Newt’s numbers to get rid of Cain because they could’t pick him off with the harassment allegations.
That is why you see Newt stories all of a sudden, and out of the blue polls of less than 500 people that (VOILA) shows him “climbing”.
There are also no swipes at him in any of the stories from the MSM even though they spent half of the 90s doing just that.
It is about getting rid of Cain, putting Newt in his place. Once that happens, then they will rip into him to ensure Romney wins. Romney has yet to receive any negative press from the MSM.
It isnt rocket science. But if your guy is Newt, then you will have no problem thinking it’s all just coincidence.
Until the MSM turns on him. Then you are going to be screaming.
During the last two weeks, I have gotten the sick feeling that none of this matters.
The GOP establishment is literally going to force Romney on us. If you listen to them on TV or in print. Romney has already gotten the nod.
They will destroy anyone who surges. Even work with the dems to achieve it.
Once the primaries come, they most likely have the outcome rigged. I don’t know quite how, but I expect it.
So far, Romney has gotten a big pass. Have you noticed?
The way this has happened is because there is this “we cannot attack the other guy” mentality going around.
If a candidate attacks the other guy, he is pummeled.
Great points. The poll of 347 voters is getting tons of media play but the polls released in the last 3 days showing Cain leading or increasing his lead in Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, and Iowa are getting ignored or attackby some freepers as “old polls” (Polls released Thursday and Friday/yesterday are old?-lol)
This serial cheater, who is now on his 3rd wife after cheating on the first 2, will have women coming out of the woodwork once the MSM is done with Cain. The media are soooooooo obviously holding their fire on Newt.
I’d vote for a crooked leg, yellow, flea bitten, mange ridden, slack jawed, drooling dog with bad wind...
before i vote for obama and/or stayed home.
maybe huntsman is worse than either of the above.
Gengrinch would make a great Communications Director. Set him in front of the reporters and let him mince them.
Agreed.
I have truly enjoyed Newt’s comments.
Bolton exposed himself as a complete fraud when he drank the Kool-Aid in the late 1990s and became one of the leading advocates for U.S. military action against Serbia . . . Clinton’s “Wag the Dog” war.
I’d say that it was a strategic retreat. Fact is, Newt didn’t have the votes to be re-elected as Speaker, so he resigned, knowing that for the next several years his influence would be greater outside of Congress.
Your view, in my opinion, lacks perspective. There would have been no Republican majority in the House, including no welfare reform & other reforms, without Newt. He was the political and intellectual leader, but revolutions typically eat their own, so he had to temporarily step aside.
With the power of the Presidency, a bigger majority in the House, and a new majority in the Senate, Newt is poised to pick up where he left off. Perry & Bachmann could not sustain their surges. Cain would not impress in a debate with Obama. Gingrich is the last man standing. And given that Gingrich could makes so many more millions & have a much easier life outside of government, it’s pretty wrongheaded for you to impugn his character.
