A word about Romney
vanity | Nov 12, 2011 | Jim Robinson

RINO.

Three words: liberal progressive RINO.

Add a fourth, fifth, sixth, etc: unprincipled, untrustworthy, flip-flopper, aisle-crossing, fraud, liar, political whore.

And a few more: abortionist, gay rights panderer, gun-grabber, global warming advocate, big government mandate lover, socialist healthcare pusher, constitution trampling, liberal judge appointing, TARP loving, bailout loving, stimulus pushing Keynesian statist.

That my friends, is no definition of conservative or of conservatism. Not even close. In fact it's the exact opposite.

Free Republic is and will remain an exclusive pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-capitalism, pro-defense, pro-borders, grassroots patriotic conservative site, regardless of party politics.

I support the Republican party as long as it promotes positions and candidates that I can agree with. The current party platform is a pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-capitalism, pro-defense, pro-borders, patriotic, traditional conservative platform. When they formally (or informally) start knocking out or ignoring traditional conservative foundational planks so they can run liberal progressive RINOS then they have lost me. It won't be that I've left the Republican party, the Republican party will have left me.

Some people say FR is a cult. Well, I don't know about that, but I'll be damned if we're going to change our core principles and values so that we can support a man who has spent a political lifetime trying to run to the left of Ted Kennedy.

Every one of his leftist positions listed above are documented on the video linked below, which is a compilation of about a dozen debates and other Romney appearances where he vehemently advocates and defends his leftist positions and ideals:

Romney in his on words

Watch it all the way through. If he becomes the Republican nominee, I can guarantee you you will see these clips and more like them, over and over again on national TV. Romney is totally untrustworthy. And it's all documented in living color.

Yeah, I know. He's changed. He's now a life-long hunter who's always been pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government. And "most of his positions, all of them actually, have always been conservative." Just ask him. And that's the point. He's changed his mind, or at least, he's changed his political platform. And he'll change his mind again tomorrow. He'll continue changing his mind to match the current political winds. That's what unprincipled, untrustworthy, lying political whores do. It's in the nature of the beast.

" I guess we can nominate a moderate and be disappointed..."

"WE", IMHO, implies a monolithic Republican electorate. That is simply not the case and is the reason I expressed my concern.

Not a Romney supporter in any way, shape or form. And I know you're not. But why in 08 was the jaw bone media announcing that Romney was not only conservative but the person to save the day?

In February 2008, the most influential and persuasive jaw bone media personality threw his all-important support to Romney’s then struggling candidacy. “I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and that’s Romney,” Rush Limbaugh told his huge audience. “The three legs of the stool are national security/foreign policy, the social conservatives, and the fiscal conservatives.”

After Rush highlighted the de facto endorsement in his newsletter under the headline “One Candidate Now Represents All Three Legs of Conservatism,” the rest of syndicated talk radio—Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck—largely followed suit. Laura Ingraham introduced Romney at CPAC as a “true conservative” and “a conservative’s conservative.” (Alone among the top-rated national hosts, I openly dissented and proudly endorsed McCain.) Even Jim DeMint, the most conservative member of the U.S. Senate, fell in line behind the Mittster. Is it any wonder conservatives have electoral whiplash. And why is it not true now?

Mitt Romney is not now and has ever been a conservative. He’s a flat out liar.

Although I am a harsh critic of Mormonism, I would not vote for Mitt Romney if he were an evangelical Christian. It’s his political views which disqualify him.

That is one of the ugliest photographs in American political history.

But it's also one of the most instructive.

Same here. I wouldn’t vote for him even if claimed to be a lifelong Christian.

A man who who would say and do these evil things obviously does not believe in the same Judeo-Christian God and bible that I know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7OQoBxZZPqU

Jim, you certainly have all your ducks in a row. Your clarity is very much appreciated and, in this case especially, agreed with.

While I do not specially like Romney, saying four more years of Obama would be tolerable is definitely cutting off your nose to spite your face. NOTHING could be worse than the IRREPERABLE damage four more years of Islamic Obama would inflict on our nation, spiritually, emotionally, culturally, globally, financially and from an ideological viewpoint.

In weighing “anyone but Obama” against “anyone but Romney”, I submit that I would not support keeping Obama. Not even if I held my nose. Any Republican, is better than Obozo, though as defined here you would need a gas mask for a Romney presidency.

My #1 reason for not supporting Mitt Romney is a very lefty friend who ‘could live with him’ as President. I presume that’s the same reason the press is ignoring him, too. If Obama doesn’t win re-election, they figure they will hardly notice the difference.

"...saying four more years of Obama would be tolerable is definitely cutting off your nose to spite your face."

Definitely not, because it was not just four years I was talking about, but rather looking long term there-after.

Briefly:
Four years of Obama and then another chance of getting a Conservative President.
VERSUS
Four or possibly 8 years of Romney and then getting another Liberal Democrat ( the only ones the Democrats promote ie: Clinton, Gore, Pelosi, Reid, Obama) for another 4 or 8 years.

The point of my post was to give a heads-up to Jim Robinson that if Romney gains the nomination and FR is not supporting Romney, then it will be said by some FR is in a way supporting four more years of Obama.

It is bad enough that the Democrats only give as Liberals for leadership. That problem is made exponentially worse by Republican RINO's pretending to be Conservatives so they can get elected.

To take the long view requires a certain degree of steady nerves and power of reasoning.

Oops, given recent events I’d better clarify that post. I mean that all the words describing Romney are profane, vulgar, etc., and if I use them I’ll get banned for bad language! ;-)

Romney was out front pretending to support McCain/Palin in 2008, while his staffers were sabotaging the campaign from within and without.

How the hell do you go about "sabotaging" a ticket that already has Juan "Lettuce" McCain at the top???
