Drug addicts, trust fund babies, highschool drop outs. Thes idiots are screaming “revolution”.
Some protesters expressing support for the police, and the police thanking them, asking them to go home so that they could go home.
Anarchists, too...in a rather large supply.
This is great! The deadline passes, the crowd parties for a while then the cops show up and clean out around hangover time...
I’m hoping for some firehose action.
The cops are there, now, “talking” to people.
I’m waiting for the police to start clearing out, and fencing off the parks, as promised.
Occutard Salt Lake was cleared out tonite, as well.
Police brought in a large front-end loader to clean up the filth, due to the large number of needles found in the tents.
Fox12 Portland is streaming live.
I hope they have firehoses...they aren’t in riot gear.
The police are wearing their soft hats.
Good for them!
Do you have a link for Fox12 Portland?
I’m watching the Occupier’s webcam.
Fox12 Live Feed:
Thank you both so much!
This is Portland afterall....there’s no way the mayor Sam Adams is going to stand strong against these low lifes. If he wasn’t mayor he’d be down there himself.
Anybody else here an Oregonian?
You’ve gotta love it...
“Eviction deadline has passed,
Police have not acted.”
Thanks, again, for the link.
The comments are hilarious—”Educate!” OK, about what? “You measure in dollars, we measure in people!” But this whole thing is about money. “Fight!” Just these generic phrases that attempt to cover the utter cluelessness of these people.
I’m from Mississippi, but live in the Portland Metro area........
Ha! Great observations!
I think they’ve incorporated. They’ve put their money in a bank! lol
Could you imagine what the media would be saying if this was a tea party rally?
One guy just said”Horseys, they have horseys” Once in my misspent youth a fight I was in was broken up by Boston Police on horseback. NEVER MESS WITH AN ARMORED GUY ON HORSEBACK WITH A BATON> You will lose. lol
I live in the Metro area also.....it’s ironic that these liberal cities have to deal with the protesters. I’m happy in my suburb where I don’t have to see any of this garbage...
How well I know about that.
I was at Mardi Gras in 1970. ;o)
I understand there is an Occupy Beaverton in the park next to the library.
Washington... But I love Oregon, and plan to move there when I retire. I ride my motorcycle down there anytime I get the chance.
Half the messages are “New Zealand supports you!” and “Hello to New Zealand!”
I guess this is their idea of ‘democracy’—saying hello to people on the other side of the world who don’t want to get a job, either.
Oregon is nice.....like everything except the politics.
I guess that the winds aren’t carrying the smell to New Zealand...yet.
“I guess this is their idea of democracysaying hello to people on the other side of the world who dont want to get a job, either.”
Birds of a feather...
On the IMs, the moderators for this expression of free speech are banning some messagers.
Oh, the irony!
The crowd is now estimated to be 5K or more, and the helo pics seem to bear that out.
Our TEA Party had that many, but we smelled nicer, and picked up after ourselves.
So...NO...this is NOT just like the TEA Party.
Oh...the huge manatee! lol
Thank you for your posts!
A lesson I learned in 1987, in the pouring rain, in New Orleans, after Indiana won the National Championship on Kieth Smart’s miracle shot.
If you rewind far enough you can see where herpes began.
Mounted NOPD has “cooperation” down to an art.
Same with Western Washington. But I try my best to not let the politics get to me.
Starting to rain, and it’s cold.
Maybe something happening soon since folks are leaving.
I totally stole that from Beavis and Butthead talking about “Jersey Shore”, lol
I just heard on KPAM that Lt. King says the parks are closed?
What’s up with that?
You’re a young ‘un, and I appreciate learning about current culture.
I had no idea that Beavis and Butthead were still around.
LOL at old me!
They were gone for a long time, but it was brought back this season. I’m not really a fan or anything, just saw some ads.
Lt. King is spinning like a top on why nothing has been done to clear them out.
Says they haven’t taken a provocative position, and hoping people will go home.
The PTB in Portland don’t know the definition of “deadline.”
So...on this note, I’m going to bed because this is a low level misdemeanor, they don’t want to escalate to force, and they don’t want to take hostile action. It’s about being peaceful.
this is our public education at work.....
I signed up for the live feed....it’s kind of fun anatagonizing them with common sense.
I’ll have to watch for them. They crack me up!
Yeah that cop was spinning. But really there’s nothing they can do at this point...why do they announce the deadlines? It should be a surprise thing.
If you are going to watch for a while, would you mind updating the thread?
Frankly, I am totally sick of it all. I am very disappointed in the Portland PD...not the rank and file members, though. Just the leadership.
They have allowed downtown Portland to become a place where people don’t want to go.
Same here, but the new show doesn't seem very good (IMHO). I watched a bit of it, and then lost interest. Maybe it's me, not the show...
Why did they announce a deadline? For the same reason that Obama would announce a pullout date.
They are stupid, and have absolutely no idea what they are doing WRT these matters.
I haven’t seen it yet, so I can’t comment. But, will watch for it.
Yeah I should be on for another half hour or so......thanks for posting!
The current Chief of Police has been working hard to rehabilitate the Portland Police. In the past, they've been a pack of thugs who would put a fist through your face for no reason whatsoever. I've had a few experiences with them that ended up in complaints to them.
This "deadline" was no such thing. It was the Mayor saying that at 12.01am on Sunday the "special dispensation" allowing the protesters to camp in the parks would expire and after that (and no details given) they would begin enforcing the law.
Chief Reese literally told protesters they would have to request an arrest if they wanted one the other day. They spent most of the day passing out flyers in the camp detailing how they could "take a number" and be arrested.
The protesters are pretty much being played here. The rest of the city is taking it as an excuse to throw a party. The anarchists they invited in from Seattle are going to be pretty bored.
The police currently are slowly making a perimeter and I am betting they are just going to lay siege to it and starve them out. Probably have cops showing up with coffee and donuts to entice people out, but let nothing go in at a time of their choosing.
There is no reason to go in and bust heads. I'm liking this -- makes the protesters look like idiots and the police will sweep up the trash when THEY choose to, not when the protesters choose.
