Fourth Grade Sex Assault Shocks Parents (Gov Schools strike again!)
Fox Philly ^ | 11/15/2011

Posted on 11/16/2011 4:24:01 AM PST by surroundedbyblue

After allegations of a sexual assault by three Philadelphia fourth graders, parents want to know why district officials were late in telling them about the incident.

Parents also want to know why the information was so vague about what happened at Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia, and the incident has the school district under fire.

The details are shocking and involve graphic language.

A letter was sent home with students, revealing allegations of "inappropriate conduct" among several fourth graders and an announcement that, from now on, students must travel to the lavatories in pairs.

Geneva Walker says the letter was just vague enough to be frightening.

"I was shocked. My mouth dropped and I was like, I can't believe this. You know, and then I'm walking out the schoolyard reading the letter and I'm hearing other parents talking and I'm like- are you serious? This is really happening in the school?"

It’s not keeping your kids in a bubble, it’s exposing them to the real world while protecting them until they are big enough to stand a chance against predators.

I just don’t know what I would do with your ALL-KNOWING WISDOM THAT IS OH SO MUCH GREATER THAN MINE!!

THAT YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT NOT ONLY MY FAMILY, BUT OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT AS WELL, IS, WELL IT’S JUST ABSOLUTELY WONDEROUS!!!

I KNEEL AT YOUR FEET OH GREAT, INSIGHTFUL SAGE!!

FORGIVE ME FOR EVEN DARING TO THINK I COULD ACT AS A FREE INDIVIDUAL. MAKING MY OWN DECISIONS WITHOUT BEING VILIFIED AS EVIL FOR DOING SO.

MY MISTAKE, I WILL MAKE PENNANCE SOME HOW, I PROMISE!

IOW, thanks for proving my point. You don’t know jackshit about our situation and yet feel that you are the self appointed nanny telling me how to raise my children.

Conservative my ass.

You’re a jackbooted thug trying to imply that others have no right (are evil or not conservative) to decide to send their kids to public school.

Sad to say, I’m not surprised.

They should have their teaching certs revoked and never be allowed to teach or work in school again.

Let them get a job in the real world and work for a living like the rest of the world does.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

The school we are sending our sons to still has a skeet shooting team!

Can you imagine a student bringing a 12 gauge to school? LOL!

Let’s see, which is the bigger bubble....a child exposed to normal circumstances and events, with his family and/or peers, or a child stuck in a kiddie prison (even a small country one) with 28 other 10 year olds all day, every day....
hmmm, i can’t figure it out.....

I’m being sarcastic, what’s your excuse?

Unfortunately it seems to be increasingly common. Our schools are starting to resemble the nazi schools where “weakness” was crushed one way or the other. The bullying seems to be selective in the sense that a “gay kid” will get the full defense of the school administration but an openly conservative kid is a legitimate target.

Here in Michigan a while back we had the case of the kid who became a target of a teacher because the student wore something with a confederate flag on it.

Completely irresponsible. The least the school district could have done was to send the letter with some condoms attached. After all, if they are going to do it anyway....////ssss

I guess you’re not familiar with wintertime and her point of view.

The entire US is socialist. And the nose under the tent is that started this all is the “public school”.

I didn’t know that conservatives LOVE socialism. But there it is. You and many others take the fact that the public school system is socialist and any one who tries to point this out and what it means, well, watch out.

And this is the very reason that we as a country will go down. The middle class has been bought off with their own tax dollars for something of lesser value and ruins the foundations of this country’s sense of freedom.

Freedom is not free. It costs. And the more the “middle class” stays asleep, the BETTER the left loves it and gets away with the KILLING of America.

That’s terrible!

I’m sure the teacher’s union had a hand in ensuring the teacher wasn’t immediately terminated.

lol... i think you'd be surprised to know my highschool daughter has two teachers who are freepers, or at least lurk. last week one of them went on a nut about obamas christmas tree tax. she said she swears he was on FR because she recognized the page layout as he scrolled down the page as he lectured on the issue. not, my kids know the basic principle of you earn what you have. nothing is free. what YOU are saying is every single person who goes to public school is brainwashed. you're wrong. the problem we face today is due to a complacent society of yesterday. this shit didnt happen over night, and todays K thru 12 had nothing to do with it.

youre wrong on all counts. i wont bother with them all, but the biggest 2... first, it is NOT the schools duty to teach god or religion unless youre at a religious school. my kids are catholic, and go to church for their religion. they go to school to learn as much as they can from math english science history etc.

throughout history, opinions from teachers from THEIR outlook has made its way to the students. some parents are mind numbed to it and the kid grows learning what you say is the norm. I take the stand where it is the PARENTS duty to insure the kid has the right outlook and a balance to all equations. blaming the teachers and the system is a cop out. if they are learning how wonderful obama is during math class, then the parents should balance the equation correctly. this is not happening in a great many households. its the schools fault?? i say bullshit... all it takes is one kid in that class to have his or hers facts right, lay out a good analogy so the whole class understands it, and that would shut that teacher up but good.

“...first, it is NOT the schools duty to teach god or religion ...”

Are you not aware of what secular humanism is?
That it IS the equivalent of an atheistic religion, with worship of the state being uppermost? And that HAS been and CONTINUES to be taught for more than 50 years is so called “public schools?”

“they go to school to learn as much as they can from math english science history...”

And do you not realize that WHAT is taught shapes a worldview, and that there is NO way that the teaching of history can be taught and NOT also teach the religion of that school?

Are you really as uninformed as that?

Or are you just disingenuous in your prosetyizing of the socialist state?

if what you say is true, when did it stop? take that date and blame that era. they have not taught what you are soap boxing in the past 40 years that I am aware of. all i can do now is give my kids the balance they need. there is no one on the board more “anti state” than me i can assure you. and with this, if youre also saying there are no good teachers in the public school, right leaning and believe as i do, like any normal mind would, id say your the one with blinders on.

Then you are truly uninformed, and it sounds like you are happy to remain that way.

When did it stop? It has never stopped.

Have you not read “Slouching towards Gomorrah” by Robert Bork?
Or Tomas Sowells book “Inside American Education,” which in part covers “An indictment of the American educational system ...”

Sowells book was written in 2003, “The American educational system, from grade school to grad school, is bankrupt, teachers are incompetent and schools cause social maladjustment, moral confusion and alienation, according to this blistering indictment by Sowell,...”

But you are married to your belief, and I don’t think you are willing to change your mind. See, it is people like you, that will make getting rid of DeathCare impossible to go away. Too many people who have a stake in the system won’t allow it to go.............

Oh I’m quite familiar. Too familiar maybe.

As I mentioned in my earlier posts, the public denigration of FReepers in the name of said “cause” is what I take umbrage with.

You want to debate the “merits” of a public school, fine, do so. But don’t think for one second that any of us are required to sit here and accept the types of abuse tossed about the anti-public school crowd.

You want us to modify our behavior based on your worldview, deny us our freedoms by shaming us into believing that we’re dooming our children to a life of hell. That we will be responsible for the potential demise of America because we didn’t take our kids out of public school.

Calling someone evil and a socialist who hates their children because their kids go to a public school is not only arrogant, it’s downright stupid. Fails at every level of so called discourse or debate. Because, although there are problems at every level in the public school system, it doesn’t make the entire system evil. People are what make the system, and they can be dealt with.

To accuse FReepers of the above without knowing a damn thing about them or, as in my case on previous threads, absolutely dismissing our experiences or constantly moving the bar all in the name of “winning” the debate by dragging the person down to their level is a tactic perfected by one of the students of socialism himself.

It’s nanny statism, only difference is that it’s being practiced from the opposite end of the pendulum.

So, how did trying to reform the Anglian Church from the inside workout, eh? Know your history on that?”

You can take umbridge all you want, take it all personal all you want, but that does not change the fact that the system is socialist, and supporting it is socialist, and there is no middle ground.

It is amazing how people will howl at Ozero, yet will allow the very same policies invade your own children’s minds. The public school system IS nanny state writ large, and trying to pretend it is not leads to moral confusion that does not help this country stay free.

Just amazing.

See, I appreciate how you proved one of the points in my post.

So instead of admitting that folks do stoop to making it personal, you ridicule them for rejecting the personal attacks. Your comments are the actions that provide the concrete proof of which I spoke.

You don’t know a damned thing about me, our son, our school, our teachers, administrators, etc.

Yet, you sit in your ivory tower casting even further aspersions upon those you sit in judgement of.

How “conservative” of you.

Against my better judgement;

As for the Anglican Church reformation question, if memory serves, we wouldn’t be having this conversation if it had “worked out”. If not for the Puritans, who knows where we’d be.

The anti-public school crowd are nothing but a bunch of foul mouthed bullies intent on berating decent FReepers instead of getting out into the trenches and making a real difference where it really counts.

That you now resort to the age old kindergarten game of rubber and glue [oops! Sorry, you probably wouldn’t know about that now would you?] indicates quite clearly that you are in a complete state of denial about the tactics and behaviors exhibited by your crowd.

Buh-bye! [i spelt reel gud cus uv mi ejukayshan]

My question wasn't whether it was the duty of government schools to teach religion. The question was, “Are your government schools godlessly secular in their worldview?”

Answer: Our socialist K-12 schools **DO** teach religion. The religion taught is godless secular humanism. The worldview of our nation's government schools is godless secular humanism. Secular humanism is NOT religiously neutral.

So...If you know of an exception this, if there is a god-centered government school out there in Freeper-land please send me a link.

NO school can be religiously neutral and this is one of many reasons why government must get out of the education business.

As for balance:

It take more time to “balance” than it does to simply do it right the first time.

“You don’t know a damned thing about me, our son, our school, our teachers, administrators, etc.”

...oh, but we do, assuming that your kid is going to a public school in the United States. If it were Russia or China, then you might have point, as the teachers there love their country (regardless of what we may think of those places)...unlike the vast majority of people working in US public schools.

The only REAL difference is whether these teachers and administrators can fool parents enough to think that their school is in that 1% that is “different” from the others. And some of those people are better at that than others....

Believe me they’d be doing it if it were possible. But it’s not, because parents DO NOT pay for public schools - Government does. And schools will answer to whoever supplies them with a check. Why do you think there wasn’t even a term for “customer service” in the Soviet Union? Well, it was because the workers answered to the state, not to the person who walked in the door.
