Defense Minister Ehud Barak reiterated on Wednesday that a nuclear Iran would have dangerous consequences on the Middle East and the entire world.
In an interview on the Charlie Rose Show on PBS, Barak said that the recent IAEA report on Irans nuclear program left no room for mistakes regarding Irans intentions.
Its clear that they are determined to reach nuclear capability, Barak said. None of the series of experiments that they were running can be explained other than their pursuing a nuclear military capability. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck its a duck.
Barak admitted that if he were the Iranians, hed probably want a nuclear weapon as well. He said that Iran is liekly not aiming to achieve a nuclear weapon just because of Israel.
Theyre looking around and seeing that India is nuclear, that the Chinese are nuclear....
He added, It doesnt matter, because the Middle East with a nuclear Iran is a totally different place They are different. The world can afford the United States being nuclear. Under certain conditions it can afford Russia or China, even India [to have nuclear weapons] but think of it: if Iran goes nuclear, theres no way the Saudis wont go nuclear. There will be no way to block the Turks from going nuclear. Probably even a future government in Egypt [will want nuclear weapons]. This will open a new round of a nuclear arms race under much less responsible hands. Its too risky.
When asked whether there is a way to get Iran to drop its nuclear program using negotiations, Barak said that this would be possible if the world, including Russia, China and India, joins hands and sanctions Iran.

Yea, that's it, Barry, join hands and sanction them. Perhaps we can all sing kumbayah while we do it too. That'll get those mean Iranians to "feel" how serious we all are.
Barry reveals his true colors—he’s Sunni!
A dangerous man to have has Commander in Chief.
And buy the world a Coke.
The reporter could not spell? “He said that Iran is liekly not aiming to achieve a nuclear weapon just because of Israel.?” “liekly”
It’s not our Barack, it’s Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
I can understand the confusion. It’s hard to tell them apart, and I don’t mean because of the name.
Hello everyone, this is not Obama being interviewed, it’s Ehud Barak, Defense Minister of Israel. It’s always advisable to read the article before you comment.
Oops...you’re right. LOL! My bad too.
Unbelievable that an Israeli of any stripe would say this.
I would expect it from Obama...but not this.
I always knew Ehud had it in him. Now we can compete with the US and EU in homegrown idiots. Way to go, Ehud.
And while we’re holding hands why don’t we sing “we are the world” to build solidarity or sumthin.
How about you join hands with your friends and jump off a cliff

I like Barak. If only America's leftists were warriors and patriots in his mold, disagreements would be easier to solve.
That said, I'm not sure I want to hold hands with the world, unless my fellow handholders are designated in advance. And I suspect much of the world wouldn't want to hold hands with me.
I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow-white turtle doves
Chorus:
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
(That’s the song I hear)
I’d like to see the world for once
(Let the world sing today)
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That’s the song I hear
(That’s the song I hear)
Let the world sing today
(Let the whole wide world keep singing)
A song of peace that echoes on
And never goes away
(Repeat 1st stanza and Chorus)
Put your hand in my hand
Let’s begin today
Put your hand in my hand
Help me find a way
I’m not sure I’d get my hands back.
That song is a crock. Turtle-doves haven’t got a jot of white anywhere on their bodies. You’d think that songwriters might actually know what the birds they write about look like.
