Posted on 11/17/2011 3:07:10 AM PST by M. Thatcher
Today is November 17, the two month anniversary since Occupy Wall Street began. Protestors have declared today to be an International Day of Action, calling for people to "occupy their block," to "shut down Wall Street" starting at 7:00 AM, and to "occupy the subway" starting at 3:00 PM. We have been hearing that protestors, and the NYPD, will be amassing all over the city today, and will be live blogging dispatches from our own Village Voice staff writers Rosie Gray (@_rosiegray) and Nick Pinto (@macfathom), as well as photographer C.S. Muncy (@CSMuncyPhoto), who are on the scene through out lower Manhattan.
5:15 AM: From the anchor desk here in downtown Brooklyn, we hear a helicopter that sounds like it is heading towards Manhattan. Nick sends two pictures: this one appears to be on an NYPD roll call, just north of the Wall Street bull:

Smaller crowd kettled near NYSE and getting ugly...
Gathering @Pine & William.
Of course they are revolting, They're liberals!
And they’d never allow a victory mosque to be built at the site of the 9/11 attacks.
Nothing NYC does surprises me anymore.
Skipping around to all the live feeds and this appears to be an epic fail. Crowds are small and disorganized. Fox said the cops out numbered the protesters for the most part.
Line at Starbucks full of protestors! lol
Nassau & Pine Street.
Speaking of 9/11, is the city still refusing to give St. Nicholas a permit to rebuild, anyone know?
Protesters now sitting in the street.
Chilean communist slogans now. ‘El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido.’ Sandinista turba tactics. TIE THIS RIGHT TO OBAMA’S ASS, Herman Cain make the TV ADS NOW targeting the silent majority in the GOP base on this street anarchy... NYPD God Bless You. Ready the pepper spray, guys. They think they can some how storm police barricades and attack NYSE.
They’re going in circles, trying to get through to Wall Street, only coming across barricades.
Protesters w/ “shields” trying to prevent people from walking by.
For those that can’t get video feed- http://live.nydailynews.com/Event/Showdown_at_Zuccotti_Park_The_NYPDs_raid_on_Occupy_Wall_Street_NYC
From the bird’s eye stream I watched, if you discount the police and the media there looks to only be about maybe 50 actual protesters there....what a joke. What happened to the tens of thousands of people that were supposed to show up???
Watching them encounter the barricades, circle in disarray and scream makes me think of toddlers trying to escape a playpen. LOL They should have stopped when they were ahead, this is pathetic.
They're probably not awake yet. This thing was doomed as soon as they decided to start it at 0700.
"Well, of course they are revolting!"
Beaver & Broad group gone ugly. They’re losing their cool as opening bell approaches and they can’t stop it. Police engagement.
One regular person knocked down. Arresting going on...
Beaver & Broad......you see that as well?
Woman w/ child in stroller was being pushed around by protesters.
Good news, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas WILL be rebuilt, all the issues have been resolved.
from global rev. live feed, they are getting anxious. No one seems to know for sure what time the bell rings. Tweets are encouraging them to get violent. Pushing over the Bull seems to be the new goal. Cops appear to be protecting it. Seeing some pushing and shoving, some arrests are reported.
Crowd now formed @ Beaver Street.
That is some great news! Thx! :-)
The need to call SWAT to Beaver Street.
Fooling around with barricades on Broad, blocking in a cop car. Media is everywhere, like 1 photog for every 2 protestors.
Crowd now formed, not allowing the Producers through.
so what did the banking industry do that was illegal, newbie? and why wasn’t anyone prosecuted?
Woohoo we now have a human chain (arms locked) and human megaphone going down. They are really getting serious now! This is sooo intimidating. LMAO
One just got dragged from the crowd and arrested!
Back to Beaver & Broad group, police just cleared them out of Broad; ‘mic check’ groupthink called for move to Broadway & Wall but of course, everyone is doing their own thing.
Here is the WSJ article from October 15, 2011:
Thx for the links! :-)
Arrests underway at various intersections/entrances around NYSE ...
Beaver & Broad group discussing joining larger group getting arrested at Henry St. / Pine & William ...
Parasites now assaulting taxpayer, normal people on their way to jobs. The enemy within, folks. If they try to prevent trading, it is economic terrorism. No matter how small and pathetic a group. This is RICO territory.
Classic: A protester telling a cop they have a constitutional right to march down Wall Street and the cop responds, “You don’t have a constitutional right to infringe on other people’s rights”
And that article is really....hmmmmm....Size is smaller, PA kicking in money for infrastructure, role of the politicians....That is some interesting info to chew on.
Looks like the begining of the end of the OWS movement.
Opening Bell delayed...protesters go nuts
I see the MSM is going with real tight shots in their video coverage. Gee, wonder why....
To make it look like there is more of these folks.
There is a crawl at the bottom of the global rev. feed that says they have surrounded the NYSE. Can anyone confirm or deny that? There doesn’t appear to be a camera on Wall Street, or I can’t tell which one it is. (never been there)
This kid is all excited about delaying the opening bell, not smart enough to realize opening bell is 22 minutes away...your public skrewl tax dollars at work...
And they wonder why they can’t get ahead economically?
Middle America backlash coming...democrats and libs going.
