A Georgia factory worker claims in a federal lawsuit that he was fired after he refused to wear a 666 sticker he feared would doom him to eternal damnation.
Billy E. Hyatt claims he was fired from Pliant Corp., a plastics factory in northern Georgia near Dalton, after he refused to wear a sticker proclaiming that his factory had been accident-free for 666 days. That number is considered the "mark of the beast" in the Bible's Book of Revelation describing the apocalypse.
Hyatt, who said he's a devout Christian, had worked for the north Georgia plastics company since June 2007 and like other employees wore stickers each day that proclaimed how long the factory had gone without an accident.
But he grew nervous in early 2009 as the number of accident-free days crept into the 600s. As the company's safety calendar approached day 666, Hyatt said he approached a manager and explained that wearing it would force him "to accept the mark of the beast and to be condemned to hell." He said the manager assured him he wouldn't have to wear the number.

There is a 'famous' commercial building on Chicago's Lakeshore Drive which had a legal address of '666', but the owners, bigshots in Chi real estate, asked for, and had changed, the address to '668'.
As I recall they couldn't get tenants with the '666' and were losing millions with an almost empty building. But after the change to '668', things immediately changed and tenants filled the building.
It's like having no 13th Floor in Hotels and some Condos and Commercial hi-rises. You go from 12 to 14 with the elevator buttons. The 14th Floor is really the 13th but people don't think of it that way. '666' is the same thing.
I'm having a brain freeze on the name of that building. Maybe the 'Furniture Mart'? Something like that.
WOuldn’t the sticker be 667 the next day? Couldn’t he just skip one day?

Revelation is a book addressed to the seven churches of Asia, not to people in the 20th Century. It's in the canon for our benefit, but the events included in the book were those soon to occur to those 1st Century Asia Minor saints.

Hey, I work in HR for a manufacturer in the US! We do exist, not all of us are union shops and we actually make stuff and employ real Americans! : ) ,
And as someone in HR; I’m smelling some major BS here.
Unless the company had a written policy stating that all workers must wear the stick every day noting the number of days the factory was accident free and stated that not doing so was cause for termination; I’d find it very hard to believe that someone would be fired over just that especially given the hyper PC stuff we in HR have to deal with on a daily basis. And even presuming Billy E. Hyatt gave a basis for his objection to wearing it on religious grounds.
And even if Billy was in violation of company policy for not wearing some sticker, which would be a very stupid policy IMO, I doubt he’d be fired over a first offence of company policy. Typically there is a procedure for giving at least one written warning prior to termination – unless this company’s HR department is totally inept and not aware of labor laws.
More likely Billy has been written up numerous times for things not at all related to the Number of the Beast and this was an excuse to finally get rid of him. Or that Billy’s termination had nothing at all to do with his not wearing the sticker, but for other more serious reasons and Billy is just using this as an excuse for an unemployment or wrongful termination claim.
Having attended many unemployment hearings, you can’t believe some of the things I’ve heard over the years.

Whether on the hand, the forehead or on the shirt front, it is a BAD number and why should anyone be forced to wear it?

I have refused to pay a bill to insurance for $666 and couldn’t believe they had the gall to bill me that amount. I paid $667.
well he is too confident. Bet he never says anything is evil either. When we had our drug abusing minister, the total for church members was 666 and very few thought that was meaningless.
I wouldn’t wear 666 all day. My body is not an employer’s billboard unless I agree with the message. We are not slaves.
