New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is holding a terrorism-related press conference tonight at 7:30 pm. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and District Attorney Cy Vance will also be in attendance. This is a late breaking addition to Bloomberg's schedule — and the presence of Vance indicates there may have been some sort of arrest. Neither the Mayor's Office nor the NYPD are releasing any information prior to the press conference. UPDATE 6:24: NBC's Jesse Rodriguez tweets: WNBC: Terror suspect taken into custody yesterday; lone-wolf suspect was preparing a pipe bomb. UPDATE 6:28: The New York Times is reporting that the NYPD had the suspect under surveillance for about a year —

It was a lone wolf.

The 14th they've caught.

They did call him a muslim, though.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg paved the way to put up a mosque in NYC.

And initially endorsed OWS.

Not to be suspicious, but I am, this has been sitting on the burner since 2009, when they first started watching this guy. Suddenly, when the talks in Congress are breaking down as to budget cuts with the Super Committee, they bust this guy yesterday, so that the headline is today, the day the Super Committee appears to have failed in their efforts. Bloomberg said the Feds were involved with the decision as to the timing of this arrest. Funny that. Now, I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but, could this be called changing the subject?

Absolutely! That answers one of my questions. If this guy is from Puerto Rico and they were that suspicious of him, why watch and wait for him (for years) to start making a bomb instead of deporting him?

I started watching the press conference with Bloomberg but shut it off as soon as the jerk started speaking in Spanish. It sounded like VERY bad Spanish too. Why do we do this. This is the U.S. of freeking A. not some third world hell hole. We speak English here and if you can’t understand it then get someone to translate for you! I am so tired of this crap.

Obama appears to be extra sensitive regarding Puerto Rico's governor, who has eliminated the territory's budget deficit and turned its economy around. The dems can't afford to lose the Puerto Rican/Latino vote esp. in NY. As it happens, the PR governor is getting some publicity in the press in the past couple of days, and the Obama admin may have decided to put this Puerto Rican wanna-be terrorist in the news to suppress the articles on the governor's handling of the economy in the search engines.

The last time the Puerto Rican governor hit the news Obama made a surprise first-time-in-50 years Presidential visit to the Island- for just a few hours, just long enough to swamp the positive coverage of the Governor.

It appears the libs are "skeert" of him.

Until the election, there will be a multitude of distractions put forward by the Progressives/Democrats (Bloomberg included).

Another thread says he is a Hispanic muslim from the Dominican Republic [not Puerto Rico], and got his inspiration from the websites that post crap from Anwar al—Awlaki.
